beautiful restaurant, great service but the food is a bit expensive for what it is. The desserts are not great. Next time I will go pre-theatre instead of post - it was empty!
Not much choice for vegetarians. Only thing on offer was a vegetarian wellington. It was nice enough, but served dry with no gravy and tiny portions of cabbage, carrot and roast potato. We asked for some gravy and after a long wait we were brought a tiny thimble full(for 2 people). We asked for more and then had another long wait before it came. One of our party had the roast beef which was a huge portion with a lovely Yorkshire pudding. Hardly seems fair to charge the same price, the veggie option must have cost a fraction of the price to produce. The pudding was sour and fruit under ripe, it was mango and passion fruit Eton mess, the chef can’t have tasted it before sending it out.
However the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and views to die for. If you’re not vegetarian, then maybe worth going.
This is my second visit to the Swan, location and food were once again incredible.
There is a great theatre menu avaliable, but I went for a la carte. The food is reasonably priced for a nice night out and recommend you make it an occasion. The upstairs were restuarant is has a lovely view and has a nice ambience.
The food was good but the pre theatre menu was very limited, my friend had to have 2 starters as she didn’t like any of the main courses, if fact I struggled to find a main course I liked.
No a a la carte available at the time we were there.
Perfect timing from the staff ensured we finished in time for the show. The food, service and view were just fabulous, many thanks for helping to make our day very special!
Small quantity of poor cuts of chicken (wings etc)
We had a window seat, so could enjoy the vista.
We were a little early, but seated quickly, the menu was good, and food hot.
An enjoyable pre theatre supper.
Fabulous location for a performance at The Globe. Kitchen and front of house well-versed in managing the restaurant so everyone can enjoy their food and still make the performance. Theatre menu has enough choice for everyone.
The food was expensive for what it was, total bill for 3 courses for 2 of us including wine was £150
My wife had the crab starter which was tasty, I had the salmon which was only ok, a bit unbalanced
For mains we had Lamb and pork and again, both were only ok
We did share a desert which was the special a chocolate tart which was pretty good. I do understand that with the theatre there is a limitation and offering cold starters means that time can be saved, but while the views are excellent and I couldn't in all honesty fault the staff, I just felt the food was pretty average.
Their cocktails were excellent though
Everything was amazing nothing less. We enjoyed our afternoon tea served with a view over Themes. Everything was perfect.
Amazing food, beautiful views, caring and friendly staff - just perfect. We had a couple of food intolerances which were catered for with no issues. Thank you so much.
I visited the swan on Saturday for afternoon tea and would definitely recommend it. The waitress who looked after us was really lovely, polite, explained what we were having and was very attentive. All the staff were nice and the food was delicious. I would also recommend the cocktails.
Should have arrived earlier. The service was poor, and very slow.
Excellent location with a good atmosphere. Good service and food.
Perfect for a typical English afternoon tea.
The Swan offer a super view on the Thames and St-Paul's.
The service was perfect and our meal delicious.
We had a exquisite afternoon tea.
Fabulous location, fabulous staff and delicious food! I had a wonderful birthday celebration. Thank you!
Great staff and food in a lovely setting
I called the swan before my visit and received a fantastic, helpful service. Friendly, attentive staff on arrival. The afternoon tea was delicious and truly unique and I believe a great price given the location of the restaurant. The service upstairs was slow at times but they were attentive and not pushy so the waiting didn't detract from a lovely meal overall. It was a beautiful day so the atmosphere was wonderful in and around the restaurant. I would definitely go again. The roasts being served around us looked very appealing.
We had a lovely afternoon tea, although the portions could have been a little bigger for four of us with a very hungry 6’3 male. It wasn’t made clear if you could ask for more sandwiches.
Overall it was delicious, staff friendly and we would happily go again.
Great food, excellent service, brilliant view over the river. We were pre-theatre (when they only serve the pre-theatre menu), but they were very helpful and provided extra flexibility to deal with some dietary needs. The food all came without undue delay, which is important pre-theatre!
Went there for wife's birthday, really can't fault it . We had a lovely evening
Fantastic prelude to a performance at Shakespeare's Globe. Starters (potato and leek soup), mains (sand carrot salad, coley with spring potatoes) and dessert (strawberry mousse) were each delightful. Impeccable service. We were seated upstairs in a corner table with an unobstructed view of St. Paul's across the Thames. Fantastic evening.
Great place to relax over dinner with a fantastic view over the Thames.
Prompt service from friendly staff. Excellent terrine.
Wonderful Birthday lunch before the Merry Wives of Windsor. Two of us had the cod which was excellent. Great service
We had such a great afternoon tea experience, and I would suggest this restaurant to all of my friends. The service was lovely, and the food was AMAZING!!!!!
The afternoon tea at The Swan is amazing. It is a yearly treat for myself and my mum and we thoroughly enjoy it. The food is delicious and the service and attention to detail is exceptional. Would thoroughly recommend having an ice cold glass of Prosecco with your food. The staff accommodated us both having the vegetarian option with included a great selection of finger sandwiches.
I’d definitely recommend The Swan for an exceptional experience 😁
Has a great vibe and food was delicious. The service was very warm and engaging. Food served very promptly, and perfect for pre-theatre.
The second time I have enjoyed afternoon tea at the Swan. Lovely setting & excellent value for money
Wonderful view with a beautiful dining room. Food presentation is lovely.
Faultless!!!! Lovely setting, attentive staff and a fabulous champagne afternoon tea. Would definitely recommend *
Absolutely loved our Afternoon Tea at Swan. We enjoyed everything - from all the smiling, helpful and lovely staff, the beautiful decor and view to the absolutely delicious scones and cakes. Well worth the visit!
Food was lovely as usual
The asparagus starters were the smallest pieces of asparagus I have seen. The cod with bisque was served without a bisque and the crab cannelloni was 1 small parcel - this was taking the ....
The word that jumps into your head as you leave is adequate... perfectly positioned for a pre theatre meal before going to the globe it slightly lets itself down with an average menu and lacklustre service ... the latter can be summed up but not being offered a sweet menu and the waitress serving our table proving elusive when we were looking to pay the bill... nothing worth complaining about but when you are surrounded by so many excellent restaurants it is lucky for the Swan that it can count on its association with the Globe to get the punters in.
I enjoyed my visit to the Swan. The ambience was nice, staff were friendly and the food was tasty. The views were stunning.
2 out of 3 of us ordered the scallops to start which were not what we were expecting - it was a cold starter and, although I didn't find it unpleasant, we were expecting nicely golden seared scallops rather than the very thin slithers of scallops that arrived.
The lamb was delicious and the wine was nice. Dessert was also very pleasant.
The food was really good, the surroundings were smart and modern, the wine list was lovely. We had a special evening with our older teen children and thoroughly enjoyed the show directly after dinner. All in all, a great night.
Wonderful service, food and setting!
Lovely setting by the river Thames. We had a pleasant table with views of St Paul’s Cathedral. Two courses for £30 is very good value & the food was lovely. Very convenient for before or after a theatre visit to the Globe.
