Swatch Restaurant @ Crowne Plaza Nottingham
The food was good but we had a long wait for it to come, not much atmosphere in restaurant drinks overpriced, can understand why there were not many people there. It was a lot better when it used to have couple of different restaurants there.
The afternoon tea had obviously been made and held in refrigeration for some time the sandwiches had dried a little at the edges. The scones had gone dry because they were so cold.
It would have been nice if the staff had taken the time to tell us the flavours of the sandwiches but the tiers were just put on table and we were left to it. A little more finesse would have made it a much nicer experience.
I asked for a mint infusion for my hot drink as I don't take caffeine and this was misunderstood and I received a cold mint infusion which was very nice but not what I had asked for.
So all in all it was a bit disappointing especially as it was my birthday treat.
We have had many great experiences here but unfortunately our recent visit was terrible. It took over 2 hours to be served a 2 course meal. The waiting staff seemed very inexperienced with little leadership. When my wife ordered a second glass of Pinot Grigio (her favourite wine) it turned out they had run out. But instead of telling us that the waitress brought a different wine and tried to pass it off as Pinot. I had ordered a glass of Malbec, but when I asked for a second I was told I couldn’t have it as they done serve Malbec by the glass. We saw waiting staff congregating by the till several times whilst we were waiting which although I appreciate the kitchen controls how fast the food comes out, didn’t go down well given how long we had to wait. I know they had a large function in as well which may have impacted service levels but surely they should be able to cope. It’s what they do every week. We will go back as this is the only time we didn’t enjoy ourselves, and the food when it did arrive was delicious. Swatch just need to do better next time.
had an excellent rump steak...…ervice was excellent too
We really enjoyed our 3 meals in the swatch restaurant while we were staying at the crowne Plaza. We had the 2 meals for £39.99 the evening we arrived and I had the rump steak and buffalo chicken wings both of which were delicious. My friend had the battered fish and chips and the pate again really enjoyable. The price included a glass of wine, I had the Rose and my friend had a red both of which we really enjoyed. The service was a little slow but the staff were excellent. Since we had such a pleasant experience we decided to eat there for the duration of our stay.
Food was pretty dry. Meats not succulent. Service and ambience ok.
Wouldn’t eat there again if staying in hotel. A shame as rest of stay good
My wife and I met on a blind date 29 years ago at the same place and I thought it was the perfect spot for us to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The meal was excellent. The service absolutely spot on. The attentiveness shown by the staff was immense and went over and above all expectations for this special occasion. Can’t thank them enough for helping to make our night truly exceptional.
The Service was excellent and the waiters were very attentive . The food was excellent although a wider choice of food on the menu would have been better.
The menu was good value for money £39.99 for 2 courses plus a large glass of wine per person.
If you parked at the hotel the parking was given free, so that was a bonus . The hotel was clean and although they were busy it was not noisy. The hotel is nicely decorated and the tables are well set out so you have privacy when eating your meal
Absolutely amazing. Perfect food, surrou dings and service. It's like a hidden gem. I will definitely be returning. It's great value for money and the standard of the food was absolutely wonderful.
The staff were friendly enough however you could clearly see they were understaffed. A beef wellington was initially ordered but only to be told they didnt have it so ordered a lamb dish instead. We then waited over an hour for our main meal, not to mention the under cooked lamb and eventually requested that our dessert to be sent to our room. We were due to go out for the evening and the wait delayed us.
I would visit again but if they were staffed well and had all available options.
Food was nice, clean plates all around but the wait in between courses was excruciatingly long..thankfully we got desserts taken off the bill.
The dining environment is really nice, so is the food. Although its not clear where you go to check-in for your reservation.
We had the meal deal for 2, the choice was good.
The service was excellent, very attentive to our needs.
Both the starter and main meals were well presented, plentiful and tasted great.
Great menu for food, only gave 4 stars because the restaurant and Bar do not stock any local ales which is a huge shame.
Lovely hotel in the heart of Nottingham. The sandwiches were tasty so to were the scones but the small cakes were just like they had been bought from the local supermarket. No special hand made cakes just jam tart cut in half, coconut macaroon cut into quarters and mass produced sponge cake and brownies cut into different small shapes. Overall disappointing for the money.
Afternoon Tea very nicely presented, and service by staff attentive
Good, plentiful selection of sandwiches, plus nice selection of cakes
Would have preferred a larger scone (instead of 1 cake if necessary, and the champayne sorbet after the tea
However very enjoyable overall
My overall rating is excellent. I only marked it down slightly as the main meal choice my wife opted for was out of stock.
Took about 3 minutes to be seated and there were only 4 tables. 5 minutes before any menu was brought. Omelette just tasted dirty. Getting bill also was slow.
Poor service, poor food, poor value
Service was excellent, there was only one other table of people so it was very quiet. Too many sandwiches of the same variety and far too many smoked salmon sandwiches. Bread was a bit dry as if they had been made and left uncovered for a while, scones were very little but nice, cakes were nice. No garnishes, unfortunately over priced for what it was
My wife and I were staying at the hotel as we were going to a concert for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised by the great service especially our waitress Fara and the excellent quality of food. Highly recommendable
Excellent choice of food and drink.Great surroundings and lay out.
Good fast service ,nice seeting, staff quick, good choice of drinks
I booked for valentine's evening on line. When booking they offered a valentine's menu deal, of which you could opt out of by selecting 'no thanks'.
On arrival it's a nice place, well fitted and a nice environment so we was pleased.
When seated we was passed the valentine's menu of which I explained we didn't book that menu (my partner didn't like anything on it). The waitress explained this was the only menu they had on for the night. I said is didn't book that and had viewed the normal restaurant menu with steaks etc on it.
She said we could have that but could eat off the 'bar menu' so we ended up having burgers etc to choose from, which we did.
With a desert and a bottle of wine it was still £80 from the bar menu.
The food was nice, the place was nice and the service was ok too good (took about 10-15 minutes to bring our drinks... We actually thought they had forgotten about us). So apart from the menu issue it was overall ok.
We had a lovely meal here (even the children ate everything on their plates). When we asked for substitutes it was no problem. There was a lovely ambience and the staff were very helpful. Would definitely return next time we are in Nottingham.
Was nice. Relatively empty so we could chat away and enjoy each others company as well as the food.
