Excellent Spanish food !! 5⭐️
Authentic Spanish food superly cooked. I was impressed by their paella.
You would expect the best paella in a Spanish restaurant. Not in this restaurant . Seafood paella with a raw lobster and raw shrimps. Don't even let me talk about the rice....so sad.. And then the octopus....cold and full of paprika..wasn't tender, wasn't tasty. The anchovies very briny ....not tasty either.
I am sure that not spanish cook touched this food. He would be so disappointed.
The service ,though, wonderful!
La Taberna never disappoints. It is worth every penny. Food, service, ambiance...everything is of superb quality. For me, the best restaurant in the DC area. A special mention for Victor whose service and attentiveness was outstanding.
Service was attentive without being overbearing. Food is very good, authentic Spanish.
Authentic Spanish cuisine in an atmospheric setting. Try the roast suckling pig on weekends; it's a treat! Excellent and attentive service.
Food was amazing...so authentic and just delicious. The service was outstanding...top notch. We sat outside and it was beautiful...heat lamps kept us comfortable.
The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The wine by the glass was excellent, especially for the price. The tempranillo recommended by the server was especially fine. The garlic and almond soup was different and extremely good: plenty of flavor but subtle, not overly spicy. The milhojas dessert was also excellent, very creamy and not overly sweet. Only the pulpo alla Gallega was disappointing, in terms of both consistency and flavor. I wish I had tried the other octopus dish. But I will certainly visit again if the opportunity presents itself.
The best restaurant in DC, is like being in Spain for a couple of hours
Amazing food. 1st/2nd best Spanish restaurant I’ve had outside of Spain.
Food was tasty and delicious. Service was excellent. Can't wait to dine here again.
Food and drink were excellent. Service was great. We especially loved the Pan Tumaca with Iberian ham and the garlic shrimp. Desert was great as well.
food is really good, service is excellent and the place is really nice
Salmon tartare was fabulous. Went there for anniversary celebration and the staff definitely made it special.
Unfortunately, my fried Manchego with raspberries was pretty cold, the cheese tasteless and felt almost like rubber :) .
But therefore, my Paella de verduras was fantastic, as well as my Flan caramel!
Excellent service and foods are delicious! Very nice ambiance
Superb Service. Food was fresh, authentic and delicious. The wait staff recommended a few appetizers and all were delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience
It was an ok restaurant. Service was ok but not great, food was the same, atmosphere is really nice.
Best restaurant in DC, without exception. Delicious Spanish cuisine with outstanding attention to detail.
The interior is a little bit dated but the food is amazing and just as good as Madrid.
The best experience ever. I found this place around the corner of my hotel and it was worthy in everything. I highly recommend this place for a great food and awesome service.
Great evening on the patio! Paella was salty - will be back but to try other dishes
You cannot go wrong by dining at Taberna del Alabardero. If it is a sunny day, enjoy the patio and watch the world go by as your tastebuds squeal with delight.
We really enjoyed our meal. The Paella was especially good. The staff were attentive and welcoming. It is hard to give a full review because Covid-19 seating, etc.prevents a full experience. Not their fault!! We definitely plan to return.
Probably one of the better Spanish restaurant in DC. But a few items were not nearly as authentic as I had expected.
Pan tumaca - Bread with tomatoes and olive was decent. Instead of think layer of tomato purée, perhaps have half the amount of tomatoes so one can taste olive and garlic.
Ox tail was nothing like what you get in Spain. It is usually bone-in and slow cooked with gravy. But this one was shredded meat and not a typical curry based gravy.
Gambas al Ajillo - Garlic Shrimp: A must have. Better than other Spanish places in town.
Churros were probably the best one can get in DC. However it was little pricey for the size.
Definitely recommend this place.
Taberna del Alabardero never disappoints. As always excellent cuisine, service, and ambiance. It is like having a piece of Spain in the heart of Washington.
Thoughtful, classy, and very professional staff. Our group ordered a variety of tapas, appetizers, and main dishes - every item was delicious.
Wonderful chef driven restaurant with probably the most elegant ambiance and decor in WashingtonDC. Victor and Eden are determined that every guest will have a perfect evening and take away lovely memories for a lifetime.
I could not imagine a more superb dining experience anywhere.
Delicious food with sublime service and a very comfortable and warm ambience out on their terrace.
The service was excellent even when my husband knocked over his glass of wine. There was no judgment, and many raced to quickly clean up the table. Particularly delicious were the baby squid with ink sauce and rice and the mushroom and truffle croquettes.
Everything was amazing: service, food, ambiance.
I recommend garlic shrimp and manchego with raspberry tapas, which were two most delicious things on the menu. Not to mention the sangria.
Great food, beautiful cozy place. We loved the concept, the decorations and the service was just great.
Antonio who was our server was very professional, friendly, helpful and super attentive.
The whole staff treated us amazing.
Overall a great experience. We will be back.
Highly recommend it!!
Taberna del Alabardero lived up to its reputation of excellent food and service in the face of this pandemic. They were able to accomplish this following pandemic guidelines and the use of outdoor seating.
My wife and I took our daughters and two oldest daughters to celebrate our birthdays which we had to delay to the epidemic. Tabernacle has always met all expectations for a great enjoyable dinner. As with most celebrations we ate and drank more than expected because all the dishes were superb. Great evening.
good food, excellent service (wait stff didn't "hover" but were there when needed.)
Best restaurant in DC! Highly recommend!
Enjoyed our meal at Taberna del Alabardero. The food and ambiance was wonderful. My only criticism was that we purchased the TravelZoo voucher for $149, and expected to pay little out-of-pocket expenses at the dinner itself. However, when local taxes and tip were added in, along with 1 drink for each of the four of us, the bill actually added another $100 to the cost of the meal! The shock value diminished the very nice evening that we had.
Food was amazing and authentic. Thank you Taverna Del Albaradero for extending your Restaurant Week menu. We hope to bring the family at the winter holidays.
we sat outdoors, for covid reasons. tables set up sparsely. this changes the atmosphere. overall, it was very good! octopus for appetizer and bronzini for main course for lunch. Excellent! it is one of my favorite restaurants and i wish i could eat inside. but the service was prompt and courteous, as usual. the menu and wine list great. I wish them good luck for the winter.
