Friendly service, fresh and delicious food, nice design with cosy booths. Menu recommended ordering three or four dishes per person but we ordered two each and we stuffed, so pretty good value for money. Would recommend.
Our first time here. I have to say the food was excellent but the service really let it down. The restaurant was very quiet and we felt the staff were using this as an excuse to be lazy.
I had to chase up our drinks order and when I asked for a glass of water towards the end of our meal it never came.
As I said though, the food was very good, the Fatet Jaj Chicken is outstanding. For the food I would probably give Tabun another go.
We were disappointed that they didn’t have any Taybah beer which we wanted to try. The waiter said they never have it. The service was poor with one of our dishes missing, which I had to ask the manager for. The waiter spilt oil when he was clearing and knocked my glasses on the floor. He was polite but poorly trained. One of the specialty of the house wasn’t on and we were informed when we ordered it. Overall not a great experience. My family have Palestinian connections so I wanted to take them to a Palestinian restaurant. The owners weren’t there and the manager was Brazilian and the waiter Sicilian. We probably won’t return
The food and atmosphere were excellent. However, the slow service let the restaurant down.
Delicious halal food. Would recommend everything. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu which we appreciated. Only downside was that the lady at the counter didn’t want to let us use our tastecard however I had to tell her that I mentioned it on booking and then the discount from tastecard was applied. This just marred the experience. She mentioned that they need 24 hour notice to use the tastecard so take note if you intend to use one. However it’s not written or stated anywhere on their tastecard conditions.
I would still highly recommend this venue. Wonderful food. Loved to try something new as it’s Palestinian food.
In the evening we booked the restaurant was having some problems in our the kitchen so we could have what was on Thursday he menu. We were only given 2 pieces of bread which cost over £3.00!!! Had to ask for more. Overall I food the experience very disappointing.
We went for a birthday dinner and had a fantastic night. Delicious food, wine, service. Informal and easy going. We loved it and have been recommending it ever since.
Lovely Palestinian food using ingredients from the region where feasible. The three types of Manaeesh (Palestinian pizza) are all great. Very fresh tasting Tabbouleh. Delicious Fatet Jaj chicken.
very nice and reasonable priced restaurant in soho. Tasty, healthy meals with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Very cosy ambience downstairs and helpful waiters. I have been here both for lunch and dinner and had a got experiencie both times.
Great tasty food and now they seem to have got their act together on service, which was excellent - I went last autumn and they were shambolic, nice to see huge improvement! Very friendly too, a lovely evening.
My second time at the Tabun Kitchen. Yummy food and very nice service. Portions are small but filling. Wine list is concise with a very good selection.
Delicious food, reasonably priced and friendly staff. I've been twice and it gets better each time!
Enjoyed the food tremendously. Highly recommended
It was really good. But there was no main option in the Jerusalem feast for vegans. And they told me something was vegan when it had cheese on it.
The food was amazing and the small plates were perfect for sharing. The waiters were all so friendly and helpful and really added to the overall experience. The ful mudammas were delicious!
Very attentive staff and great deal with the tastecard!!!
Food and drinks are definite draws - mezzes with twists and soulful mains. Service was attentive. Highly recommend getting the fest for two set menu. We came with two young kids and they enjoyed everything.
Such a lovely place! I was in Palestine last summer, and from the food felt like I was back in Bethlehem. All the waiters were lovely and attentive, and the food was amazing (get the Knafeh!). Will definitely be back very soon to introduce some other friends to Palestinian cuisine.
Great food and attentive service. although at times waiters would come over too often and break up conversation. Food was incredible though and I would highly recommend it!
Nice simple cafe doing pretty authentic food. V friendly.
The food was halal, delicious and is highly recommended. Slightly on the expensive side with a coca cola costing approx. £3.50!
Also be aware that £5 is automatically added to your bill for a meal for 2 (£2 service charge each & £1 donation to a worthwhile charity).
The electronic ordering system went down while we were dining and instead of reverting to a manual paper system the staff kept us waiting without an explanation despite us requesting the bill 3 times.
However, these things happen and it certainly did not detract from our experience of fine Palestinian food!
Good food and cosy restaurant. The Brazilian manager was extremelly friendly and made a big difference accommodating our need not to be sitting next to other people for a quiter meal. Only suggestion is to have bigger portions overall as they are quite small, particularly the starters.
Great bite size middle eastern food. Portions could be bigger IMO as we were dining with 3 but the food is so tasty and will be back soon. Great cause too and great PALESTINIAN restaurant.
Went here for a pre-theatre meal. The menu is pretty east to use and a really good range of traditional dishes. Some parts are really reasonable, but then others just seem expensive (£5 for a tiny portion of humus or £3 for 2 small pieces of bread). The cooked dishes are lovely and we tried a good mix based on their recommendations.
Be warned, Arabic liquor is Sambuca! Such a disappointment as this wasn't made clear in the cocktail menu and I was still charged for something I sent straight back.
In one word? Delicious! Thank you for sharing your culture through these meals. Such an amazing place! Thank you!
Excellent food and outstanding service! We loved it!
A friend and I had the set menu, along with a lovely bottle of wine. Food was absolutely delicious, and I want to return very soon !
This place offer some great choices in what I call 'female-friendly' eating as I personally find things like burgers, pizza, burritos just too stodgy, messy, beige, drippy to enjoy. Tabun's cuisine is vibrant, healthy and delicious. Kept me feeling full for the entire afternoon in the office. The only thing I'd say is that our dishes didn't arrive at the same time and at times, we had multiple members of the staff ask us if we needed anything in a short succession, so seemed a bit chaotic, but only at moments.
Went as part of the £29 deal and so the choice of what we were eating was very limited. The menu presented was very carb heavy and the mains were served warm, not hot as you would expect. Sense that the majority of the food served came out of the microwave.
Very glad we had the Time Out voucher for 2. Wouldn't have paid £40 let alone £70. The food was tasty but I felt like we didn't get the 'unlimited' side of the voucher like it stated. Our mains were also left waiting in the kitchen until the manger saw us waiting. Bought both ours and the table next to us out and we're pretty much cold. Food was really tasty but lacked in everything else. The waiters were stressed, wasn't the relaxed environment it could have been.
Really lovely place - a discovery via Time Out! Good value for money and the staff were all helpful and friendly. Our mains took a little longer than anticipated to arrive, but they were so good when we got them that we didn't mind at all! Great wine selection too which is always important!
We were seated and offered tap water which was a positive. We had a voucher which meant we could have prosecco, so we had that which was good.
The starters was ok, but I was under the impression the hummus was bottomless but we weren’t offered a top up which was disappointing as it was very nice.
The lamb flatbread was nice, but we were served the wrong mains (ordered one chicken and one lamb dish, but got one lamb and one veg). The rice we had was rather oily. I’m not sure if that is normal for Palestinian food, but it didn’t sit too well so not sure we’d be heading back soon unfortunately.
The staff were nice and the restaurant was modern and had a nice decor.
Really nice food. Traditional plates are definitely full meal size.
Food was fantastic however service was poor and slow. We were offered a 4 person table for 6 of us despite booking in advance. They forgot to bring items we had ordered until we asked about 3 times.
Booked Tabun for a group of friends. The manager was very hospitable and allowed us to wait while the others arrived. Some friends were an hour late but the staff were very pleasant and offered drinks and humous. We were allowed to bring our own cake as we were celebrating a friend's engagement.
Food was authentic and delicious. Only problems I noted was that only the manager was allowed to take food orders and that starters took a while to arrive but other than that it was an amazing experience. We received another table's food and was allowed to keep it free of charge. In total we stayed over 3.5 hours and were not hurried to leave. Would recommend.
Service was terrible, waited forever to order and then waitress mixed up order so we had to wait even longer to get our food. It seems they have new staff and only one person knows what they're doing.
Bread was hard and terrible rather than hot and fresh out of the oven. Food was a western take on palestinian food. Fattoush had no crispy fried bread in it (is that not the best part of that salad?!) Makloubeh is served without yogurt or salad. Small portions, high prices.
If like myself you are Arab or have lived in a Palestine, lower your expectations.
I was really looking forward to coming here, and left very disappointed. The only good thing was the wine.
Can't fault the food. Everything we ordered was delicious and served promptly. However the restaurant is severely understaffed. There seemed to be only one very harried waitress. Our drinks did not arrive until we were midway through our mains. Even tap water could not be brought to our table until we were partway through our food.
Tabun is nice, but a bit patchy. The room is overlit, the service is well meaning and always friendly, but often a bit amateur. Some dishes use Middle Eastern spices well and are imaginative, but portions are often on the small side. Bread can be very hit-and-miss, often a bit stale. Overall, I would say Tabun is fine for a casual lunch, but is too inconsistent for dinner.
The food was excellent & you never had to wait long for your food. The venue itself is very small . The service was a bit slow due to them being fully booked & training new staff . Other than that a very pleasant experience. The lamb is superb.
Amazing food, service was a bit slow but quality of food, ambience and friendliness of the servers more than made up for it,highly recommended!
