Attentive service. Great tacos!
Ariel and Carlos are terrific!
The guacamole was good, but the tacos - the tacos were amazing. We ordered the carne asada, chicken and chorizo.
Can’t really pick a fav as they were all mouth warm Teri g good.
Can’t wait to go back
Food, drinks, and service are quite good. Noise level is tough to hear anyone talk. Reservations are an absolute must.
I felt like I was being rushed.
Super loud, but that was to be expected on a Friday night. Had a great dinner!!
They are selling a tostada and calling it a quesadilla. It's tiny. Not cool.
Excellent option near the theater district. Nice casual atmosphere, friendly efficient service and generally very good food, with the exception of the chicken paillard dish I ordered which was very dry and borderline burned. But everything else we ordered was excellent.
Very good food, lively atmosphere.
Nice place--quick, efficient. Great guac and tacos, drinks. Lots of fun-tasty.
Portions were not very big and on the more expensive end
We had the brisket and chicken tacos. They were overly spicy and salty. The service was fast, but no one came by to ask how our food was (because I would have told them it was too spicy and salty and ordered something else). Guac was just okay.
Great Mexican food and ambiance, I had the shrimp and rice entree which was excellent. The Guac and Tacos are some of the best around. Highly recommend Tacuba. Will be back soon.
The place is nice and the menu reads well but unfortunately, that's all the nice things I can say. I booked the place to meet up with a group of 6 people who didn't really know each other that well. The hostess and greeting were good and they set us without the entire party being present. The waiter was very distracted, hungover, or something. We had to repeat the first two orders 3 times. Walked off and missed some drink orders. Didn't try to offer appetizers or chips and salsa. The food was underseasoned and bland. Soup spoons were given to the wrong people. Steak knife not provided until halfway through the steak. The manager looked like he was trying to train people but the staff wasn't cooperating very well. No eye contact was being made with guests or looking around to see if everyone was happy. We had to flag them down for each item. Wasn't that busy just not organized. The place was pretty slow for a Sunday Brunch which was kind of my first red flag.
Mediocre food and service
Tacuba was a good Mexican restaurant where the food was decent and the noise deafening. We luckily sat in the quieter downstairs where our server was very pleasant. My husband asked to have his tortilla soup heated. We all finished our entrees when he finally got his soup back which wasn’t hot. We wouldn’t return. If you’re young and don’t want to hear your companions then you might like it.
Carne Asada was on point, very tender.
Didn't care for lime Mojito but food was excellent!
YES!! VERY GOOD. OUR SERVER WAS CAMILO!! AMAZING!!!
Great atmosphere, awesome service, and exceptional food. I am an avid lover of Mexican food, and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. By the way, the frozen margaritas are sensational.
Good food, easy to get to, good service. The only thing I didn’t like was being told we needed to leave because they needed our table for their next reservation.
Food was fine. We had the tacos; three in my party so we had steak and two of us had chicken tacos. All fine. Drinks were fine. A bit pricey but that's New York. I think this would be a great place to come for Happy Hour to drink and have snacks. We were visiting for the weekend and looking for a hearty lunch. We were immediately seated by the door under a speaker. It was very cold this weekend so we asked to be seated elsewhere (+ the loud speaker) and were immediately relocated. It took a very long time for our appetizer to come out and we had to ask a couple of times. It was melted cheese so I'm not sure what took so long. The rest of the meal was fine. A bit breezy but good vibe. A number of folks were there for just drinks.
Great food, they took care of our large group very well!
Great! My drink was too strong and waitresses gracefully exchanged for me. Lovely dinner
This place is noisy and the food/beverage are not inexpensive, but then it's NYC. Very good food; service helpful and responsive. Fast is you care, more relaxing service if you're into having drinks. A reasonably short walk to the theatre afterwards.
Great food and friendly service. Would definitely go again.
Great food and environment. The server was excellent!
The foods were not bad, especially the guacamole. But it was too loud inside the restaurant, we have to yell at each other. btw the size of the foods were kinda small.
Tacuba is a cute and inviting Mexican place with delicious food and drinks. The menu offers a great selection and also some vegetarian options.
The service was really quick, sometimes even too fast as we barely took the last taco off the plate and the waiter already removed it. The service was okay, the waiters were friendly enough but not overly warm. We didn’t want a dessert so the owner grabbed the menus off the table and walked away, he didn’t ask if we enjoyed our meal or the restaurant, felt a bit rude but not a big deal. I was with 4 of my girlfriends celebrating a night out before an upcoming birthday and we had some great food. Definitely would recommend!!
food is fantastic, but it is always just sooooooo loud.
We love Tacuba and often go there before a show.
Amazing people and great food in vibrant Hells Kitchen
Had my bday celebration here. Good place overall. Special thanks to the manager for accommodating an extra 2 people last minute. It made the night. Food and drinks are delicious. Will def. be back.
Nice guacamole and great margarita pitcher ! Service was very friendly and no loud music so you can actually hear yourself !
Service was excellent and they accommodated us by switching our table when we weren’t comfortable sitting on backless stools. Food and drinks were delicious!
Overall, the experience was not up to par with expectations. The drinks were good and I suppose decent for the price. However, the food could have definitely been better. Spent $20 on an appetizer that was advertised very well on the menu, but plopped in front of us in a tiny pumpkin garnished with stale popcorn. The chips offered with the guacamole were also stale. The taste of the tacos were flavorful, but barely any bigger then the appetizer. Basically, bite sized. Spent $300 on a dinner and left unsatisfied, and frankly HUNGRY!
Went with our three kids before a Broadway show - food was incredible (brisket tacos are the best I’ve ever eaten) and service was fast and friendly. Super cute, authentic Mexican ambiance.
Great all around ! will return ,when in town. Try the Mole !
It would be helpful to understand why the hostess insisted on seating 5 of us at two small tables pushed together, caught between some steps and a service station while the entire place was empty. She balked at our request for more reasonable accommodation although she eventually relented when we insisted. More puzzling when place was still 75% empty when we left, so what’s the story? The food was mediocre so there is absolutely no incentive to return.
Takuba is a gastronomic experience - and a wondeful one. The pork carnitas were delicious, moist and crispy at the same time, and the dressings were savory, going very well with the pork. Great chicharrones too. I even tried to reserve a table again on the following day but the place was fully booked. There were some problems with service but our waiter tried as much as possible ti mitigate them. Even so, one of the entrées that we ordered arrived 20 minutes after everyone had finished eating. They did not charge for it, though. All in all, it was worth it. Food to remember!
I’ve been to Tacuba several times and I’ve found recently that the food is inconsistent. At times it has been great and then at times very average.
