My husband and I went to the restaurant for his birthday meal. We was sat down away from people which was nice. We ordered food and we loved the mixed grill platter, however, the rest of the food was a let down. I didn’t finish my main meal as it wasn’t up to my taste. The food was not bad, although it was pricey for the portions. We really wanted to try the chocolate bomb dessert but was told they no longer serve it which was disappointing as we was looking forward to that. Wouldn’t recommend for special occasions to be honest.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere, recommend the butter chicken!
Me and my friend have been wanting to try out Tarmarind kitchen for quite sometime but wasn’t able to in the past for one reason or other.
We finally managed to and it didn’t disappoint, food was lovely and service was great, can’t fault anything.
The food was great and the staff were all lovely!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Excellent food. +++
Second time I've eaten here in the last couple of weeks had complete withdrawal symptoms for the tempered spinach and the tandoori prawns.
Food was atrocious and there was no clarity on they proposed the east out to help out scheme. Charging us extra and telling us we must request the scheme online whilst booking. But no where had that been started. The crab for starters was basically a heap of breadcrumbs. Calamari was quiet nice.
Baby potatoes had a inedible seasoning, lobster smelled as if it heals too been cleaned. Sea bass was ok.
We had lunch at Tamarind last month and were so very happy with the food.
I just had to let me friends enjoy the same wonderful food so we booked at the Tamarind Kitchen for lunch today.
I must say that the service is not the same. After our order was taken it took nearly 45 minutes for the food to arrive. And we ordered 2 Thalis and 1 biryani.
When we finished our meal we had to ask for the waitress to get our deserts and she said we will get both the gulab jamun and the kulfi. That was surprisingly odd for her to say that and then we got 2 servings of the gulab jamun.
I don’t like gulab jamun so when asked what’s happened to the kulfi we were informed at that time that they had run out of kulfi. That waitress did not what she was talking about.
At no point from the time we placed the orders we were ever told that the kulfi was Not going to be available. When I questioned why didn’t someone tell us this at any point during the meal, the waiter went and got me a rasmalai so that I would keep quiet.
And even after all this the service charges was also applied to the bill.
No apology and just a quick bill so we would be gone! This is bad service. If the waitress had not given us wrong information and if the team had been honest upfront it would not have been so bad as we can understand that sometimes things do run out.
I attach the invoice for the meal. One thing that is certain is that we would NOT be choosing any of your restaurants for our Xmas meal or the upcoming big birthday celebrations.
Spoilt the experience at the end. So Disappointed.
Very flavoursome food, great service and some unusual dishes - we will be back!
Food was excellent, as it has been every time I have been here. Service was also really great, very attentive staff.
Quite pricey but food is truly exceptionally delicious! The only reservation is that we ordered too much food on the recommendation of the waiter which felt unnecessary. Overall, highly recommended.
The Tamarind Kitchen is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited.
The menu is not huge but more than adequate and the quality of the dishes and generous portions And relaxing environment justifies The higher prices paid.
In these times of social distancing I was particularly impressed that all the employees wore masks and provided hand cleansing upon entry.
Highly recommended establishment to visit.
As always amazing food and Service ! Thank you for having us
Lovely staff and great tasting dishes, as always!
Very enjoyable lunch - sample of dishes, extremely nice and tasty, great service, lovely venue
Coming from out of town and as an Indian, I would say this place has a great vibe. The decor and ambiance is great, location is nice. Close enough to the underground just a little walk. We came here as our last meal while in London and wanted to try an nice Indian place and we’ve heard Indian food in London is good. The Lamb Appetizer was great, flavourful and a great start to the meal. We have Butter Chicken, Kaali Daal and, Raita as our mains. Raita was very sweet, and if you are familiar with savoury Raita, avoid it. We both thought the BC and Daal lacked seasoning and flavour. It was cooked well, but lacked the pizazz we would assume and very high end place would have. For 60-70£ we had high expectations.
Unhappy with the service, did not follow instructions and menu was but misleading, the food was cold when arrived and asked twice to be warmed had to change my main when ordered a curry I received chicken wings on the side and even for take away they did not follow to keep them separate. Bad service waste of money food was rubbish
We had a lovely meal here last week. Food was delicious although a bit pricey for the portion sizes.
Everything was delicious and wonderful
love food but the service was quite slow but they were apologetic and the whole meal was lovely will definitely come back
Had the tasting lunch menu for 18 pounds each. Food was was outstanding. Highly recommend it.
Service was great.
Need to ask for the lunch menu though, others wise you'd be offered the regular tasting menu which costs 40 pounds.
Good food and service improved at the end when they brought our daughter a surprise cake and candle if a bit sleepy earlier. Butter chicken and lobster the highlights. Very good.
Best Indian cuisine I've ever had. I love that the menu is so (relatively) short and includes a good range of grilled food and plenty of choice for pesca- and vegatarians. Butter chicken is to die for (possibly literally, as I could probably eat it every day) and the daal is also unbelievably good. Appears pricey but only when you compare with standard Indian fare. This is in a different class.
Amazing , delicious food, served in a way that is a pleasure for the eyes too!
I've tried the tasting menu and it was excellent value for money choice. Try the Mango lassi if you wanna drink something typical. Place is crowded but quiet and super fancy, great for couples but also group of friends. I will definitely come back!
Both Tasting Menus, one of them Vegetarian, were a good intro to various dishes off the main menu. All of the starters were delicately flavoured and delicious, even to this customer of Indian heritage. The idiotic thing though is that you have to share the the same main dish in mains, even though Vegetarian Tasting Menu has Seasonal Veg Biriyani and the other menu has Chicken Chettinad Biriyani. We did not understand this novel concept and both my wife and I ended up eating the same Veg biriyani she had ordered. I did not get to taste the chicken biryani. The Italian waiter was very apologetic. This anomaly should be rectified, and the restaurant should offer whatever the menu states. Nevertheless, the Dum-Biriyani with fluffy pastry was delicious.
Overall, we enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience. A good Indian restaurant for a pukka Indian taste.
Delicious, freshly made dishes. We do not eat meat but there was plenty there for us to choose from.
Very nice Indian restaurant, we was surpriced by the high standard!
Great service and food
Really nice starters, had the Papdi Chaat and Raj Kachori. Both were amazing! The Tandoori paneer was very soft and melted in your mouth, though it lacked much flavour. The staff were great although our waiter didnt have the best English and struggled when we queried the menu (both food and wine). All in all, I would return there for a meal again. Upstairs seemed to be pretty crowded and noisy, we got a table downstairs and it was very peaceful and a lovely atmosphere.
Tropical temperature (Read 30 degrees when we were dressed for LONDON winter) in the restaurant and very cosy dining experience (could hear everything from the next table and banged my head on the overhead light as I left the restaurant :/ )
Cold and very bland tasting food (ordered Biryani seekh kebbabs with Kaali daal) furthermore apart from being cold the Biryani also had hardly any rice.
The starters and small plates were all cold (mango and avocado salad, Raj Kachori and paprichaat - & they were very creamy and cloying rather than tangy and refreshing) otherwise have a feeling that I would have been writing about those too.
The only redeemable experience was that when we complained the manager decided to take the Biriani and kebabs off the bill. The staff was very polite and attentive at all times.
Overall was a wasted venture and came out feeling particularly disappointed as was our valentines meal. So much so that we didn’t order dessert either.
Well went to another place for dessert and tea.
Overall very diapointed.
We went to the Tamarind Kitchen based on reviews we read online. We had a fantastic experience. Our server was very helpful and guided us through the menu. Her suggestions were spot on. The food was great. We would absolutely eat here again.
Very good food and drinks. Cozy and nice restaurant ! We got our food before drinks, and has to remind the waiter about the Wine we ordered - Only minus.
Really enjoyed our meal at tamarind kitchen. Lovely table, attentive staff, nice vibe in the restaurant. Portions are quite small, and it is quite expensive but would definitely return, very tasty food and lovely atmosphere.
Excellent food an non typical but a little on the expensive side. Had a very enjoyable meal.
A party of 6 of us went for a meal for a birthday. This restaurant was amazing. Food was delicious, not a huge menu which meant the dishes were freshly made. Would definitely go again.
best Indian of the several nice Indian restaurants in Central London that we've had - always good, friendly, and nice service
Tamarind Restaurant was a good restaurant in the middle of Soho. The FOH took care of us despite some initial delay on our table. The waiters explained the food we ordered and seemed to take pride in our enjoyment of it. It was a very pleasant evening out and I would happily go again.
We loved the Seabass and the Vegetable Seek Kebab. Definitely coming back!
Amazing food a bit pricey but delish
Cibo molto molto buono e ristorante bellissimo, da tornarci
