Dinner Monday to Saturday 5pm - 10.30pm
Dinner Sunday 5pm- 9.45pm
This was a very good experience.
Great service beautiful decor and the food
Was decent. I’m afraid I have had better food, my rogan josh was good but not up to the standard of service or ambience. But I may have chosen badly. The paneer starter was alright but could be tastier. Indian food is awesome andnomenhogh standards have been set!
A totally wonderful meal for our wedding anniversary. We went for the Festive taster menu and it was outstanding. An explosion of flavours and beautiful service with a smile - thank you Felix. :)
Sorry - we didn't like to disturb the ambience by taking photos of every course (although we would have love to have done!) but here's one of my Lady Martini cocktail before we got started ...
Great food and beautiful setting. For us the pre theatre menu had a little bit too much 'one bite' dishes, we missed substance. So we ordered an extra main dish to go with the menu. But overall we loved it!
Food far too salty
It was our first visit here, usually we go to the Tamarind for a special lunch.
My only gripe was that I messaged in via the booking app that one of my party is a vegan and would that be ok.
I got no reply and as Indian food is usually ideal for vegans I assumed all was ok.
However there was only one option for my son which he didn’t like the sound of and so his main meal was basically rice, potatoes and dall. We even had to pay for the little extra portion of rice he ordered. That doesn’t happen at Tamarind.
I did feel they could have noticed that four of us had a great meal and would it have been so hard for a good restaurant to knock up a quick simple vegetable curry!
As it was a special occasion I made no fuss- I should have done really. We were also bothered by lots of tiny flies the whole time. Tbh I was embarrassed to mention this in front of my friends. So good food for meat eaters but not for vegans.
Shame they didn’t bother to reply to my query sent in two weeks earlier.
I will probably stick to the Tamarind proper next time where the staff are excellent. The chef even comes out to chat when they are not too busy.
I really loved the food. It’s fantastic. Though the ambience in the place is a little generic (it really could be any cuisine in that place), the service is very good.
Only downside is that its pricey for what you get. If you don’t want to feel like you’ve paid way too much, stick to the mains (they’re plenty) and avoid the starters and grills. £19 for two grilled prawns!!)
But their mains are stellar and it’s a very satisfying mean overall.
Better than your standard Indian restaurant but quite overpriced for what it is.
The food was undoubtedly very nice, it's clearly a cut above your average Indian restaurant but then so are the prices. I thought the portions sizes for rice and bread were rather tight and the service, whilst attentive, was spoilt by the constant effort to upsell. Overall, my food was very lovely, I would go again but I'm not desperate to.
Wonderful tasty and spicy food. Nice service! Have been the first time here and would recommend everyone to do it the same.
Great food and atmosphere. Great attention to detail.
Just alcohol is a bit expensive
With the reviews of Tamarind, my wife and I were looking forward to trying out this restaurant. The restaurant is well quite well presented with a quiet ambience. We ordered starters which were of a decent quality and were looking forward to the mains. This is where we were more than a little disappointed. The chicken dishes were of a poor quality, chicken chunks that were chewy that were essentially dunked in sauce. There was little or no flavour and was surprised that a restaurant of this calibre. The dhaal also had small bits of stone/fragments, this happens when the dhaal is not sieved correctly.
Having eaten at other Indian restaurants such as Dishoom and Cinnamon Club this was far below those experiences.
The only positive was the mentioned items were removed from our bill and the manager was apologetic.
Really loved the food. Great value! Atmosphere was quiet and service good.
Service was great, food was tasty I had the malai kofta which was nice the gravy was a bit on the thin side and not as flavoursome as I'd hoped. The kofta we're tasty but perhpas a touch too strong in flavour. Overall lovely experience! Favourite was the aloo till chaat and masala chai!!!
The staff was very attentive, the food was delicious. We really liked the mango and avocado salad and the curry prawns. There was a lively crowd, but the noise was not overwhelming.
Best Indian food ever! Very attentive staff. Slightly loud. Waiter told us they are opening new Michelin restaurant. No wonder
Wonderful dinning experience for our Thanksgiving meal while in London. The staff is ever at your beck and call and helped sort out the menu. Will come back again Welshmen in town.
Love this restaurant ! Food is amazing and great service - Felix, the waiter is so nice !
A group of us went here for the set lunch on a quite Saturday. Overall the food was exceptional and each course allowed us to share equally between us. Great choice and taste. It would be nice if dessert was included in set price just to cool off the spice.
The food is not bad but very very overpriced
Great food. Sit upstairs if you can as downstairs lacks any atmosphere. Service was ok but could have been better for price.
Indian food at a higher level. The tasting menu in particular is excellent and you will leave full. The wine list is overpriced.
4x meat and 2x veg Tasting menus presented with little explanation or charm . Rather plonked down and pushed across table by harassed waiters . Daughter was disappointed for her 25 th birthday as had heard great things , Biryanis topped with pastry were obviously a cheap filler And did not feel tasting menu was good value .if returning would order from menu .
Went to Tamarind for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend off the back of many positive reviews for Tamarind. Although the restaurant in general has a lovely ambience and is nicely decorated & lit, we were seated at a table that was clearly a last minute addition in order to fit more people in. This was was made obvious by the fact that it was the only table that was a different style (very simple table compared to all others in restaurant being beautiful and ornate) and not a having a dedicated light above it, again unlike all others in the restaurant, making it rather dark. Individual servers were good but we had 4 different waiters so were asked multiple times if we'd ordered etc. probably again because our table was not in the usual roster of tables. The starter was divine (PAPDI CHAAT) but the curries we had for mains, although very flavoursome, lacked any kind of spice, which is rather disappointing in an Indian restaurant. Overall this could have a been a lovely experience given how the rest of the restaurant looked, with food being reasonably priced and in parts very good, but being "squeezed in" completely ruined the night and strikes me as unproffesional at best and greedy at worst. We certainly won't be returning.
Interesting very tasty dishes we had the lunchtime platter - excellent value, will definitely return
Great indian food in a lively ambiance. Only issue is lack of nearby parking
Food is excellent, staff is very friendly and a very nice atmosphere. A little pricey for the portion size but flavors fantastic.
Delicious food (great veg options) and wonderful ambiance!
Mario as bartender and Danny as waiter along withy the other staff, the ambiance and the FOOD + COCKTAILS. Wow, amazing evening! We will go back next time we’re in town!!
Awesome experience! Food was great - the best yellow dal I tried in my life! Really nice quiet environment, perfect for a late dinner-date.
Food was really good and great flavours , however the portions for the starters very really small
Stumbled upon this place by accident, as was drawn in by the wonderful aromas of food. My friend's first time and they were also drawn in by the smell. This was my second and everything was just as delicious as I remembered.
The food was very tasty but rushed. We had the tasting menu and it seemed they wanted everything on the table at once. This lead to items getting cold and having to send items back. Our first drink came after out 3rd course as the bartender was preoccupied. Our waitress was very nice but was not knowledgeable of the products in English. Once our drinks came we then ordered wine thinking it would take as long to come, but this came straight away before we even finished our first drink.
It was a very rushed and uncomfortable evening. Only saving grace was the food was very tasty.
Food was relatively good. Rather small menu and a little pricey for what it is.
Service was ok, but could definitely have been better and a little more enthusiastic.
Having been to Takarind’s main restaurant in Mayfair several times, I was quite disappointed it’s sister restaurant in Soho. The food was very run-of-the-mill Indian fare, witbout nuance, complexity, or depth of flavor. The atmosphere was very much about customer churn — getting diners in and out with minimal fanfare. This outpost is no substitute for the original flagship.
The lunch platter was perfect, just the right amount of very tasty food. I would go again!
Service was fast (perhaps slightly too fast) but friendly and food was great
Great location, very excellent food, friendly service
Excellent food & service. The lamb chops were very good as was the lamb shank. My wife and son got 2 different chicken dishes and they both were extremely tasty. Great experience!
