Cute restaurants with good staff. The food was good, although portions were small for appetizers and it was a bit confusing how the menu was laid out. We ended up ordering various dishes not fully knowing what we would get. The curries on the back page are incredible and what most people would think of to order. Would have been helpful if staff had explained that. As the night wore on, the place got busy and staff less attentive, but overall that’s to be expected. For the price I expected a little more attention to detail, but none the less the experience was great and I would go back again. What mattered the most - the excellent curries- this place did well on! Highly recommend the old Delhi butter chicken!
Great food in a beautiful ambience
Again another fabulous evening.
We were again served by Felix who was brilliant throughout.
The wine selection was fantastic and surprised to find some of our favourites on offer.
We will certainly be returning again with family and friends.
Excellent food, beautifully presented. Good service. We are planning to go again very soon.
Nos encantó este restaurante Indio por su excelente servicio y ambiente. Cada plato es una verdadera delicia y un descubrimiento de auténticos sabores exóticos. El Chef de primera. Enhorabuena!
Always one of our choices in London. The best lamb chops ever...
Bland food, definitely not worth a Michelin star. Indian food needs to have some spice. Service was poor and we were forgotten about. The only thing that was worth it was the mock-tail. Curry is better in Southall.
Fantastic delicious food! Excellent menu. Great service. Good coctaiks
Best garlic bread
Food was very fresh
Wonderful creative food and friendly attentive staff!
From the time we were welcomed at the reception by Elizabeth to the staff like Rakesh and Gavin, the experience at Tamarind is absolutely one of the best of its kind in the world! Mr.Khanna’s culinary creations are simply exquisite and we loved the process of paced consumption! We were able to relish EVERY dish which is unique and ‘truly’ out of this world! The wine list complements the food and the cocktails and dessert are absolutely phenomenal! Thanks Team Tamarind! For creating unforgettable experiences for us!
Great meal. Our waiter Felix was superb and explained every dish
First time at this lovely restaurant where we were treated so well from explanations of the types of menu, food, to being shown the kitchen and food preparation areas and an introduction to the head chef. Food was delicious and we found the whole experience delightful.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Would recommend and will certainly return.
Don’t miss this spot! Amazing all the way around. Thanks
We had a very pleasant evening...
Wonderful experience. Fabulous food. Great service. The ambiance is even better now after the renovations.
Service very slow.
Atmosphere simple and very loud. difficult to have any discussion.
food is good but not worth the extra price.
We will not come back.
Entres were great. Mains were a disappointment. Never a fan of a place where staff bump into you while you are sitting at the table or where they don’t give way to you when you are walking around - forcing you to give way.
Wonderful assortment of flavors and ingredients. Excellent take on traditional favorites. We consider it a top London pick for gourmet Indian fare.
Very attentive staff with exceptionally tasty dishes provided a great evening. The upstairs restaurant did get a little noisy as it filled up.
Outstanding and worth every penny
High end Indian cuisine in a modern setting in a posh section of Mayfair. We came here wanting something out of the ordinary in terms of Indian cuisine and were not disappointed. The restaurant is elegant and contemporary and I would refer to the cuisine as modern British Indian. Food, drink and service were all excellent. Recommended.
We were disappointed by our visit to Tamarind. It was rather overpriced and we were left hungry at the end of the meal. Although the waiter offered plenty of advice about the menu, he didn’t make clear that orders from the ‘grill’ menu arrived separately, even though we specified the grill choice was the main dish for one of us. So we ended up with one of watching the other eat cold food...
The choice for pescatarians is minimal - only prawns were on offer.
The coffees didn’t arrive when we asked for them, although these were deducted from the bill. We found the music volume unnecessarily loud, as were some of the other diners. The lighting was rather too dim to read the menus, even for someone without reading glasses.
Anyone looking for a curry ‘blow out’ should certainly avoid Tamarind although in fairness it doesn’t seek to represent itself as the bog standard curry house. That said, I would question that its food, although better presented, isn’t really much superior to a quality high street Indian restaurant.
We have been before for dinner but this was our first time for lunch. We had the set menu. The food was excellent and good value for money.
I was disappointed with the very small amount of wine given in a glass. This compared badly with food that was plentiful.
Tamarind was amazing the service was fantastic, food was absolutely delicious. The only slight downside was the atmosphere it was at the same time both quite stiff/pretentious and loud/uncivilized at the same time. When we were there was a party of 6/7 women who at first were noisey but it helped the atmosphere to not feel too stuffy, then it went too far the other way they were making which can only be described as animalistic sex noises which on 2 occasions made the wait staff physically jump while serving. They slightly ruined the atmosphere for not only us, but a few other people who sat near them.
But overall the experience was amazing and my boyfriend really enjoyed his birthday dinner, he said 'the Butter Chicken is the best hes ever tasted, even ones he tried in India'.
Bets Indian food in Mayfair and London. Been too many in London and Dubai, but the ambience, service and food is outstanding.
It is always a real pleasure to eat here. Interesting food and always more exciting than your normal Indian, with new and modern ideas and flavours.
Half dishes allow 2 people to try many different dishes--excellent idea.
Recommend the fish dishes over the meat dishes
I paid 220 US dollars for a waiter to be a complete jerk the whole time. I work in NYC so Ive been to tamrind tribecca a bunch. No reason to be arrogant and way over priced for dark meat chicken dishes and rice.
My favorite restaurant in London and maybe the world. Tamarind is the quintessence of gourmet Indian cuisine and the deft touch of the chefs makes you want more. The tandoori selections are limitless but the Dal will change your life. I go every time I'm in London and brought a client on Wednesday: She is now a convert!
The restaurant is very expensive to value of food you are paying for. Also the restaurant lack diversity in terms of the spicy levels
My sister took me out for a meal and the two of us had a wonderful Sunday evening at the Tamarind. The food was exceptionally delicious, I particularly liked the lobster and the sea bass. The service was friendly, efficient and excellent. Would definitely go again, also enjoyed the new decor, much lighter and more modern than the downstairs restaurant we had visited previously. The ambience created by the background music (very jazzy) was good and not too loud so that you could hear yourself speak.
We were there in April (sitting downstairs) and it was fabulous. However, this time we were upstairs and the experience wasn’t anywhere as memorable. The room is more pedestrian than the downstairs room, and much louder. Compared with our meal last April, this time we were somewhat disappointed with the food. It was ok, but honestly not all that special (with the exception of the quail). Service was fine, but we felt there was a trace of condescension — nowhere near the wonderful service we received last spring. To be honest, we have been coming to Tamarind whenever we are in London almost since they opened, but it may be a while before we are back. We did not feel the experience merited the price.
Excellent meal. Fantastic staff and food was amazing. We will be back!
The lobster was possibly the best thing I have ever eaten
Always amazing- every mouthful, sip. Great cocktails and friendly staff. Wonderful!
Once again Tamarind put a smile on our faces. Great food, superbly cooked, served excellently ,in a nice environment.
I didn’t like the quality of the beef and lamb at all !
Great food but at a cost! Wine hideously overpriced
