We booked this restaurant for lunch as part of our Son’s 16th birthday weekend, as he loves all thing Japanese. The photos of the food and the reviews are what drew us to Tanakatsu. When we arrived at the restaurant it was very unassuming and at first, we thought we may have made an error in booking here. However once inside, the staff were very friendly and attentive and they helped advise on food and on Sake! The food arrived promptly and was very well presented. The taste was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Nice place off City Road (closer to Angel tube.) Bento Box (lunch time only) is enough for two people to share if you add one extra dish. Good service, good food, good fun!

A gem of a Japanese restaurant with amazing food and really nice atmosphere and service. The value for money is also really good. Their yellowtail aburi is the best sushi roll I've ever had.

This is a no frills restaurant offering very good food. The service was excellent from start to finish. Enjoyed my time there and didn’t feel rushed. This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I would definitely revisit again if I am in the area.

The restaurant applied the 90 minutes rule very strictly and we were hugely let down by the inflexible attitude of one waiter. Although a few of us arrived late, we managed to finished the meal at the 70min mark. Up to the point we struggled to get attention of waiters in order to order food and get our teas refilled (bottomless tea deal). A waiter then happily gave us the dessert menu but another waiter told at the 76min mark that we were too late to order dessert as the table needed to be vacated in 14 min. We have eaten at many restaurants in London and it was the first time a restaurant allied the time rule so strictly whereas they took so much time to take our orders and complete our requests at the table. There were no customers waiting for tables when we got the bill and left. There were a few vacant tables around us too. There may be next bookings in pipeline but allowing extra 5-10 min would have made the restaurant extra £30-40 and most importantly, nice impression to us who are repeaters of the restaurant. The food was great as usual but the quality of floor staff was poor and showed little flexibility. I used to recommended Tanakatsu to my friends but will no longer do so.

i loved the food ever since they were in camden! When I hear they have a restaurant I had to try. The food did not disappoint, as delicious as i remember. I had the katsu curry, and the spicy beef miso soup which was so tasty. Everything was perfect. Would recommend and its going to be my regular spot from now on.

Best chicken katsu ever!! Their food is always spot on and even their sushi is very tasty! This has become one of my favourite go-to restaurants in London. The staff is also always super friendly and accommodating.
