Amritsari Crispy Lamb Chops
House Tandoor Chicken
We were so grateful to the restaurant manager for letting us stay over our allotted time. My friends and I hadn’t seen each other for two years due to covid restrictions and it was so good that the restaurant staff did not rush us and let us spend a good afternoon at the place, especially as we were celebrating a triple birthday!
The reviews looked pretty good so my wife and I decided to try this restaurant instead of just walking past it on most trips to London. It did not disappoint, we got a nice friendly welcome and the smells were excellent. The menu seemed small but there was enough to choose from. Obviously the house specials were chicken, lamb and their naan bread, all cooked in the tandoor ovens you can see behind the glass screens. We ordered them all plus a green saag and a starter and I must say they were very tasty, right level of spice and the meats were very juicy. We were there on a Saturday lunch time and it gets very busy but the service was outstanding, we never had to wait long for anything and everybody was very friendly. For the center of town this place is a little gem, not expensive, great food and outstanding service, we'll be back.
Great food, really interesting take on British-meets-Indian cuisine. Lovely staff, great decor and ambiance. Recommend!
Quick, tasty, nice!
Menu is not extensive. Service very good. Lighting in corner meant using mobile phones to find the bones in the bream! Music too loud from 1730 - people having to speak loud to be heard - especially with the concrete ceiling and floors bouncing the sound around. Spices fresh which equated to good (but not great) food.
If your looking for authentic Indian food this is not the place. It’s an interesting concept but strays away from original Punjabi cuisine too much. Flavours are largely a result of the tandoor with very little seasoning or marinade to the food. Lamb chops are left red inside to completely appreciate the quality of tandoori food. There are far better restaurants out there that blend the modern take on Punjabi cuisine better and far better value. Checkout Tandoor at the Chambers in Essex if you want to see this same concept done right.
Really good customer service , lovely staff. Food however was disappointing,
Been wanting to try Tandoor for while and finally made it there, but came away feeling that this was a forgettable experience.
I’m surprised with such a simple concept and minimalist menu they have missed the mark. All the dishes blended into one, no distinctive flavours and most dishes came with the same bland green sauce!
Not sure if all the staff were students, but for such a small restaurant, it looked like they couldn’t cope with around 45 covers.
Conveniently located in theatre land I’m sure they’ll have a steady footfall, but really not inspired to return.
Very nice food here. Would definitely return and think very good value for the price. The onion ring/bhajis are amazing and the lamb chops are fantastic, those 2 are absolute stand outs.
The venue was very good and the food was amazing.
Fantastic food and great advice as well as service
Always try to go this amazing restaurant whenever we’re in London.
Excellent food and service, great staff and quick service, a little expensive but as in Central London, maybe to expected. Lamb Chops, some of the best I have ever had.
Such an awesome restaurant. Service was friendly, informative and better than I’ve seen in some of the top restaurants. Price point was great especially considering the quality. The food is probably the best India I’ve tasted in London. Highlight was the chops.
Very satisfactory, food was delicious, service was very good. Ambience is standard, there was no smell of the grill inside the restaurant - which very hard to find in London restaurants.
Delicious Indian food and great ambience. Second time and I’ll be back again.
What a find ! Great food ! Nice Tandoori flavours! Recommend a visit here very much !
The host was so welcoming and kind and food was delicious!
Fabulous authentic Indian food ! Very friendly staff made us welcome !
A hidden gem which we would definitely return too
Nice vibe, friendly staff. The food was OK but the flavours were over the top. Everything was over egged, no balance, no subtlety, my taste buds felt bombarded. Promised much but just tried too hard.
Highly recommended. Been twice already and will be back again when next in London. The tandoor sea bream was excellent- best I’ve had of fish cooked this way. Staff were also excellent. Have recommended to friends.
Lovely evening with friends and excellent food!
What a find! Delicious tandoor chicken, delicate fluffy naans, earthy black dal. All bursting with flavour. A gem of a restaurant in an area prone to chains and sub standard offerings. Great pre-theatre option.
Really enjoyed the food, onion bahjis crisp and dry. Tandoori chicken excellent and lamb chops to die for.
Great food and quick service
Had the mighty thali on the Sunday. Great variety of flavours and really enjoyed it. Suggest they replace the halwa with gulab jamans instead for dessert!
Good was delicious and authentic. Service was great and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Service was very good. A small restaurant I strongly recommend.
Utterly delicious and great cocktails too.
Really nice. We ordered a little bit too much (as always!). But everything was really nice and an interesting twist on your typical Indian.
Everything was amazing as always! The service was impeccable and fast! The chicken and the lamb was cooked perfectly! Always order the naan!
P. S. The Punjabi Sour always hits the spot!
I’ve been several times before and was taking a foodie friend from Australia. The usual things; onion bhajis, lamb chops, chicken tandoor, roti and fries were all excellent, but our introduction was a disappointing beetroot seekh kebab that was bland and undercooked. A shame as it influenced our view of the rest of the meal.
Recommended by daughter. Love the food, especially the lamb. Good choice of beers. Service attentive
Excellent as always. Highly recommend a meal here.
Delicious food, friendly staff, great experience.
Great place with great food. Really had a great time. Staff is very knowledgeable too.
Nice vibe very relaxed ..food was excellent and portions a reasonable size.Had a home brewed beer which at £6 a can was expensive but it was very nice. I would definitely come back.
Wonderful food, prompt service and excellent value. The lamb chops were insane and everything else was beautifully cooked.
Lamb chops were really good.
