Tandoor Chop House
Lovely evening. Delicious food beautifully presented.
Great service and waitstaff. Delicious food and I would recommend.
Food was incredible. Sauces that a acompany the food were incredibly tasty. Very nice location. Not a large restraunt but makes for a more intimate atmosphere. The only thing I would add is this pricey cost of the wine however everything else was fantastic!
Food was amazing we booked a table for two but 3 of us turned up and they sorted it out
We were really excited for our visit to Tandoor Chop House as we had read such good reviews and we both love Indian food. We were so disappointed. All the food was cooked really badly and covered in salt. The beef short rib was one of the specials, and it came raw in the middle and with a huge slab of fat on the top covered in salt - I usually imagine a short rib, given the tough cut that it is, should be slow cooked and falling off the bone. The lamb chops were burnt and just tasted of charcoal. They got our order wrong with the vegetables and so we never received them. The butter chicken naan was greasy and undercooked, it tasted like soggy bread dough with a jar of curry sauce over the top. Really really disappointing meal, and considering our meal came to over £100 for two people it didn't come cheap either. If you are looking for places that do modern Indian cuisine well go to Gunpowder or Kricket.
Really great food, great service too. Everything on the menu looked great. I would love to try it all.
The Amritsari chops we're lovely. Food and service were both really good - I would definitely recommend it.
I’ve been back 3 times and never disappointed. Food was excellent. Buzzing atmosphere. Great for a smart-casual dinner with friends. My personal preference would be to have rice with my bbq meat but I also loved the roti. Will return for sure.
Fab food and great service
Great food, great experience, good sized portions. Great value. Highly recommend!
Fabulous mix of British Chop house feel with Tandoori cuisine. Delicate balance of spices and flavors, perfectly complimented with chutneys and Naans.
Third visit in the last three months. Food outstanding as usual. Lamb chops to die for
First time at Tandoor Chop House and it was a great meal ! We had the tandoor chicken with black dahl and naan. It was delicious and well served.
We would go back next time we'll travel to London
Sunday Thali was fabulous! Service was good without being overbearing... never felt rushed.
Great place, just off the Strand. Staff were friendly and welcoming and have very good attention to detail re allergies if that's a concern for you.
Went quite late on a Saturday when it was pleasantly full and lively. The food was great and came out quickly and accurately.
Would definitely recommend and book again.
The food as always was great. However, we waited to be served initially and we never got service items such as tableware and napkins which we had to ask for and then wait for an inordinate amount of time as our food cooled. Our original waitress took our order and we never saw her again
Instant brownie points! I chose this place on a recommendation from a friend, and he'll forever be in my good books! The service was incredible, they even recommended some great option from the menu. The food, however, was impeccable, flavours to die for! I'll 100% be going back
This is quite possibly my favourite place for indian dining in London. The food is consistent, there is a menu that changes frequently enough to keep everything interesting and the quality of the cuts is just superb. There's a reason why it's busy every night it's open and the quality speaks for itself. Many thanks,
Can’t complain, everything was superb. Would love the option of draft beers though!
Great staff and delicious food. This was a late night booking after the theatre so it was quiet but the staff were really friendly and helpful and although we were the last to leave, they never rushed us. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Look forward to returning.
What a great place. Food and service both excellent. Good value for money. Looking forward to returning.
Excellent meal - lovely tasty food all round. Very good service.
I was first of our group to arrive and there were only a few tables with guests but the noise level, due to extraction fans, was already high. We get together every six months or so to chat over food and drinks, and by 7pm the noise level was very high. So, chat was a challenge. The food was good but overpriced even for London - main course are in the vicinity of £15-16 but come with no starch, and the side orders are equally small for a high price (eg a half sized naan bread costs almost twice that of a full-sized naan at an Indian restaurant outside of London (ine would expect a full-sized naan to be twice the price in London but not half the size at that price). Nice decor and service was good, delivered in a normal delay time, so iur main complaints were the noise level and the over-priced food. I am not sure what can be done for the former, but thae latter could be offering rice or there mini naan with the main courses. Probably won’t be returning - as Scotty says: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me...”
Great place with terrific food. Not your run of the mill Indian. The food is fresh and the naan breads are the best I have ever tasted, light with great flavours. The lamb chops are stunning.
1st visit and was suitably impressed. Friendly staff and food was very tasty. Will def revisit
Brilliant spot for dinner with a few friends. Super food, easy to share plates and service was great. Would definitely go back and would recommend.
The food was very good, slightly limited menu but would eat everything on it. Service efficient and friendly staff. Slightly different take on the regular Indian food in a pub style environment. Third time here but will certainly come back again.
The menu is very interesting and different to many Indian restaurants, a small selection of starters and mains means the food is freshly cooked and tastes great.
The black dal is recommended.
The only downside in my view is that the specialist beers are a overpriced given they come in a standard can but that did not detract from an enjoyable evening where the food and service was excellent.
My third visit, food was lovely, presentation was great and staff were on point. Lovely venue for a meal.
Great food. The naan is outstanding. Cozy dark atmosphere.
Good quality food, great flavours.
Four (big eaters) shared Black Pepper Chicken, House Tandoor Chicken, Lasooni Paneer, Beetroot Sheekh Kebab, Masala boti rubbed ribeye and Nimbu masala fries.
Just the right amount of food, good price, good service
Could not fault any element and will return
Food was very good but there was smoke constantly escaping from the kitchen into the seating area so our clothes and hair smelled completely of tandoor oven smoke by the time we left.
Tremendous food disorder in service. Took 20 minutes to get noticed and upon ordering drinks at least another 20. Stuff we didn’t order was being dropped off. When we all done eating our 2nd round of drinks arrived and more food that we didn’t order. Then the billing system went down. Another long wait. It’s a pity will the superb quality of the food.......
The food we are was delicious. Great to have real tandoori chicken.
Only downfall was lack of clarity on the menu as I found it hard to gauge portion size.
TCH is definitely a worthwhile stop while in London. I went on a Friday night and even with a reservation ended up waiting another 15 minutes for a table. As I was not in a rush this was ok with me, but it's something to keep in mind if you are short on time. The place is very small and smoky, but charming, and the food is very good. Small menu, but enough choices for meat eaters and veggies alike. Portions aren't big, so I'd recommend ordering a few things for the table - I had the cauliflower, a salad, and the roti, and still wasn't overly full. Don't skip dessert! The nutella naan and coconut ice cream are the best I've had anywhere. Would definitely return.
Food was top notch. Naans lovely and light. House chicken was good, lamb chops were excellent as was kulfi dessert.
Only gripe was ordering a £6 beer expecting a pint, then received a coke can sized tin! For 6 quid! Service a little sparse, overall would recommend.
Wonderful food! Some unusual dishes that were executed beautifully - always a great experience!
Even our vegetarian daughter loved it...the starters in particular were superb
i usually do not like indian food, but this was delicious. really subtle, and not too spicy so everyone can enjoy, and we can really taste the food
Unfortunately things have gone down hill a bit. Not as good as it used to be. Service is still good.
All red meats
Spinach saag was tasteless
Tandoori chicken was dry
Rabbit was overcooked and tasted of kerosene
Paneer was bland.
Indian lemonade was not good, too sour and full of cumin.
Bone marrow naan had no taste of bone marrow.
Yes I'd go again as hoping that it was an off day.
Please get mango lassis on the menu as it is a staple in any Indian restaurant. Please work on the limbu pani recipe as it is simple, lime juice, sugar syrup and water/soda. Can have a salty version instead. Add rose water/syrup for a more interesting flavour combination.
Please, please do not overcook rabbit - what a waste!
