Tangawizi restaurant in London’s East Twickenham, close to Richmond Bridge, earned the well-heeled locals’ devotion right from the off. The chef is ‘trained by and strongly recommended by Vineet Bhatia’ and that’s saying quite a lot. The dining room is very smart, mood-enhancingly lit in saffron and blackberry with details of beautiful sari fabric inlaid in the tables. Dishes are authentic North Indian, but cutting-edge and contemporary, the way we Londoners like them: the freshest of ingredients, little oil, sparkling flavours. Try the mixed platter of starters to share to really browse the possibilities, then choose something like spicy marinated red snapper in tempura batter served with cheddar and Parmesan risotto, with one of the lovely dahls on the side. The traditionally-clad waitstaff are very attentive and the whole experience a winner.

Tangawizi Ratings and Reviews
Service was exceptional, right from our arrival. We were spoilt for choice on the menu, and in the end went for a fixed menu with one extra main desired by one of our party. The cocktails were delicious - slightly slow in arriving, but probably there was a backlog. We jokingly said there wasn't enough food when the enormous number of dishes arrived for our starter selection - and they brought us one more! A fantastic experience and we look forward to returning.
A great local restaurant serving Indian cuisine, with fantastic food and a great ambience. The staff were very friendly, welcoming & attentive, even remembering us from when we were regulars whilst living in Twickenham 10 years ago!
We will definitely be going back.
Right away I was impressed that when I called to delay our table by thirty mins (traffic!) it was no prob.
When we got there was a warm friendly welcome. Our table was ideally placed and the lighting and decor made the place feel really cosy.
Our order was promptly taken AND delivered promptly by lovely staff. To say the food was delicious would be an understatement. Among the best I have tasted. My only criticism was the poor selection of beer. Only two brands of lager available. Dave Lister might think only lager can kill a curry monster...but a good butter or pale ale works just as well!
The next pleasant surprise was the bill. For poppadoms, dips and pickle, two starters, mains, two lagers and a glass of wine was £62 inclusive of a 12.5% tip (automatically added)...which for London is excellent.
The food was very good - maybe not Michelin star quality but certainly in a different league from everyday Indian restaurants. The service was friendly, as were all the staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and I would go here again if I was in the area.
Been coming here for 10 years. This is a fine Indian dining experience in a unique and modern setting, with superb staff throughout. It feels really special for an occasion but equally can be for a casual event. The food is divine, with many exceptional vegetarian offerings. Service is intimate and relaxed. Highly recommended - and book ahead to avoid disappointment!
Celebrated my birthday here with my loved ones on a Sunday evening (which was quite busy!) and the lovely staff were very happy to bring out the birthday cake we bought in for dessert. The food was delicious, definitely one of the best Indian cuisines I've ever had (and I've had quite a few!). Will be going back again soon.
Always a pleasure dining at Tangawizi.. my partner and I have been coming regularly for over 2 years and it never disappoints. The staff are excellent and the food is always of high standard. The atmosphere is friendly, with nice low lighting and dark furnishings giving it a mellow and upmarket feel.
The owners are also always on hand to greet, all in all there's a real personal touch and it makes such a difference.
Would highly recommend!
