Tate Modern Restaurant level 9
It's a hidden gem! Well worth a little bit of a wait for the lifts.
The Warhol tasting menu was amazing - good recommendation and description from our lovely waiter. The main menu was lacking in variety though.
Lovely staff, creative food, marvellous setting.
Lovely place very kind and attentive staff. Good food good drinks and magical view. Not talking about the art next door...
Great food and waitress. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will certainly go again
Great views of London riverfront and excellent way to round off a visit to Tate Modern.
The lunchtime menu was full of delicious choices that suited our tastes and interests in well sourced produce.
Good service and seating at tables that were well spaced out - so no intrusive conversations from neighbouring tables.
Superb food and the most attentive service I’ve experienced in a long time. Highly recommended. Only shame is that there is no view once you’re seated because the architect put the windows way too high. Pity.
A leisurely lunch, with refined food & personal service, not to mention a great view of London’s skyline.
A very splendid evening; food was very good - all three courses. Wine list was excellent and some very good value wines that are not always easy to find, including under-appreciated German and Austrian reds - the German Spatburgunder we had was nuanced and well balanced. The waiting staff were all friendly, efficient, well-informed and attentive, without being intrusive. The new dining space is better than the old one above the Turbine Hall, having a sense of more private zones and a less regimented layout. I am a bit deaf, due to a mis-spent youth, and the acoustics were very agreeable for a restaurant of this size. Many thanks to all the staff, front of house and kitchen.
This was a fantastic venue for a catch up with old friends on a Friday evening. The service was great - attentive but left us alone to get in with it. Food was tasty and beautifully presented. Fixed price menus excellent value. Surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening - can’t imagine its always like that. Haven’t even mentioned the view!!
The salad that came with mackerel was too salty, and the main course, lamb, smelled too much for me and my brother that we couldn’t finish the meat. I normally enjoy eating lamb dishes, but sorry not this one. The waitress was nice, but gave normal coke instead of diet coke as ordered. She came with the lid open, so we just drank it anyways. Good ambience, but I can’t recommend the place due to the food and the price value.
Excellent wine list. Trendy menu a bit too exotic for my taste. I didn’t fancy any of the starters. I had lamb as a main course which was very good. A mystery glob of something yellow that didn’t taste very nice luckily hadn’t touched the other ingredients.
Location / view: fantastic
food quality: excellent
quantity on / in the plate: not enough at all (client is taken as a fool)
quantity of wine in the glasse (had ordered a glass of wine): not enough at all (i guess there was less then 100 ml)
time between starter and mains: too long (the water recognized the fact and appologized, fair enough)
noise level: much too loud
We were 5 ladies. The food was excellent. We Waited 65 minutes for the second course to be served. (2 parties who arrived after us were served ahead of us, and one party was gone before we were served). Of course we consumed a lot of wine... Personnel was clustered around the computer monitors doing their best to ignore customers I payed a service fee because I had no choice!
The food was great. However, because I was there alone, I felt pressured from some of the servers to eat quickly and leave. They also kept forgetting several of my requests and would group on the other side of the room and just stare at me having my meal.
Other than that experience, everything else was wonderful. The view was magnificent, the food was great, the price was reasonable and the atmosphere of the place felt enchanting. Despite the discriminating service I had received, I would recommend this place to another friend or person who will travel to the UK and visit Tate,- only if that person were to have another person travelling with them.
Menu could not accommodate vegetarian/ vegan nor low carb options. No serious salad options. I had to modify a duck starter which left me with a few watercress leaves and specks of hazel nuts. My first visit was disappointing.
Food was excellent but two of the dishes we overly salty. Staff were charming, apologetic and offed compensation. Otherwise fantastic location, interesting and very tasty food. Will definitely go again.
The restaurant section does not have a view, lacks ambience and the food was pretty but tasted poor
Great meal in a lovely location. Stunning all round views and not too crowded. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will come back for sure.
I took my adult daughter here for a weekday lunch with her sister last week and we had a really delicious meal and delightful time. We were treated to a February treat, as members, to some complimentary drinks and a scrumptious pudding that the restaurant generously gave my daughter to celebrate her birthday too. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the sourdough bread and rosemary balsamic/oil mixture was so yummy we needed to ask for more! So I have no hesitation at all
in thoroughly recommending the Tate's level 9 floor restaurant for a glorious outing.
Excellent food. A hidden gem. Combine with the Viewing level and some great art.
Great food. Great value. A real gem. And some art to look at on the way........
Confused menu with poor balance, a mix of over and under cooked, quite low quality ingredients and clumsy over zealous spicing.
Wonderful location with fine views. Pleasant calm ambience - not crowded or overly busy. Food was lovely -beautifully prepared and very tasty. Only criticism would be the hefty markup on the wine prices.
Lovely calm venue with good food. Service attentive and a good selection of wines.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was my 50th birthday and the staff were really attentive - great food too
Not what we were expecting - had thought we’d booked on the kitchen and bar on floor 6 which has floor to ceiling windows and great views. This restaurant, on the top floor of separate wing only has views when you stand - not when seated at table. Also only a fixed price menu was available which I had not expected. That said, the food was delicious, portion sizes good and felt pretty good value for £29/2courses. Nice touches like free sourdough bread and petit fours. Service was too slow for a lunchtime venue.
We thought the food was very good, though a wider range of vegetables to accompany mains would be welcome. Service was warm and friendly but polite rather than excessively 'matey' and the restaurant is very spacious with attractive decor and excellent views. Best of all, there was NO BACKGROUND MUSIC so we could eat and talk in peace.
Visited at 2pm on a week day for a friends birthday. Staff very attentive and efficient. Seating comfortable and not too densely packed in. Great views (even better from viewing platform on level 10) Starter of celeriac soup was delicious. Main of lamb was underwhelming. Ordered tea. Very pretentious way of serving it on a wooden tray with individual timers. I think after all these years I know how I like my tea! Alcohol was pricey. Overall, whilst it was relaxed and service was good, I've had better meals for less elsewhere. Not sure I'd come back.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended for a working or pleasure lunch! The lunch menu is good value for money,
I don’t really think I could recommend it to a friend. My dining companions likes their meal, but my crespelle was tough and only warm. The pancake was heavy and solid. I felt it had been cooked well in advance . Staff and service was good, but slow. Views over Thames and London helped but the high windows were somewhat inhibiting. The Bar on the lower floor had a more inviting aspect.
Delicious food if somewhat overpriced and good service. My one big complaint is that once seated, it wasn’t possible to see anything but sky out of the windows as they were too high. Whoever designed this is completely clueless. What’s the point of panoramic 9th floor views if you can’t see them unless you stand up?
A fantastic setting with London laid out before you. The food is excellent with some of the best fish I have eaten anywhere
A lovely space, airy and light. Plenty of room between tables and a good view over the river. Friendly staff and accommodating to young diners. Would go back again
Service , food and ambiance were all nice . It was a bit pricey
Lovely restaurant. Visited as part of a birthday celebration.
Service was superb and we were not hurried through our meal at all. Staff were attentive but not in your face either. Excellent value for money. We had 2 course meals but paid a supplement for the aged rib-eye which was well worth it. The rib-eye came on a shared plate which would have benefited with serving spoons but then again we didn't ask either. None of us could manage a dessert but the kitchen offered a lovely light dessert plate as a birthday acknowledgement.
Would visit again. Perfect end to a wander around the Tate Modern.
We partly booked for the views and they were stunning at night with all the sites lit up. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the good was good. The Hake was cooked really well, but I do object to having to pay extra for sides that includes chips when paying these prices.
Waited 45 mins for one main course which was on entree size was not good. Side dish of fries had fried fat bits all through it.
Went away wanting to eat something and that one dish for 2 was £55.? No alcohol . Asked to pay 12.5% plus donation to Tate.
Great experience at the Tate , very attentive service, views at night across St Paul’s - a romantic spot when not too crowded.
Interesting cooking and good food. Very small portions. Wine by the glass VERY small amount (the least that I have been offered in a good restaurant for a very long time. Bad value which is a pity as the choice on the list for 'by the glass' is interesting and unusual..
Design of the restaurant space means that you have to be choosy about table location as other wise you sit 'in a passage' with staff passing you by on their way to the kitchen all the time. We were very politely shown an alternative table when we asked.
