First the actual restaurant is beautiful, especially if you want to get those Instagram pictures. However the whole purpose of going to a restaurant is the food and honestly it wasn't what I expected or hoped it would be. The drinks and starters my group and I got were admittedly delicious. But when it came to the main course this is where it failed for me, I got the miso chicken and it was supposed to have chilli rice, it did not. It was basically regular steamed rice, roast chicken with no flavour and a pak choi leaf with the miso sauce. The flavour just wasn't it for me and to be honest at the prices we paid I expected more. The taste was not there. Even after all that sometimes you can overlook the food especially if it may not be your preferred cuisine if the service was up to or above par. Here is where Tattu let themselves down for me. This was a birthday meal so it was supposed to be an enjoyable experience however the service we received ruined it for me. The server seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else rather than serving us, very monotone. Yes they have to tell us the food comes when it's cooked and I understand why as if you didn't tell customers they would of course moan if it's not sent out all together. She did tell us but I don't think we needed to be told upwards of four or five times, it seemed patronizing like we didnt understand. Our food starters and mains did in fact come for the table at the same time. Maybe we were just lucky. It's a nice place and we wanted a group pic and although she did take the picture, it seemed like it was too much trouble. The only time she livened up and put a smile on was when she gave the bill and we paid. So overall it's a beautiful restaurant, the food wasn't necessarily to my taste, service was subpar considering the high end scale of this restaurant. So due to all these reasons I wouldn't recommend it nor would I come again no matter how Instagram worthy it may be.
The best food you will ever eat! Amazing place, I would go everyday if I could.
The most amazing restaurant we have ever been to. We had the most magical evening. Food was literally insane, presentation and taste was amazing. The staff were so nice, informative and friendly! I will definitely be going here again. Absolutely fantastic!
Went for a lunch menu - the first courses were excellent, with complex aromas and quite originally derived from Asian cuisine. The main courses - not so much. The spicy chili beef was not spicy at all, and far too sweet; same for the Iberico porc: sweet and sour is perfectly fine, but the 'sweet' part should not be this overwhelming. The desserts and cocktails were absolutely fab.
The staff make the experience here even more enjoyable!!! Very attentive and friendly! The place itself is amazing and the food was 10/10!
Beautiful restaurant with stunning decor, sadly food mediocre, service shocking and prices high. Waited 4 months for a Saturday night availability and could have had a far better all round experience at a local Chinese restaurant , very very disappointed
Best restaurant and amazing food and cocktail presentation! Will be back soon...
Lovely dining room , nice ambience , not too bright and really good food !
My main dish came out about 15 mins after my husbands meal by which time he had eaten his and I was still waiting.
I enjoyed my starter but not my main and felt it wasnt worth the price. I would go back again and try something else though as my starter was lovely
Very nice place and venue. Food was well presented. Squid was okay expected abit more. Black cod was tasty but sausage did not go well taste wise with dish. Dumplings were tasty. Would try again but maybe choose a different dish to try. Service was very good and quick.
Loved this restaurant, staff friendly and professional. Atmosphere beautiful and food outstanding and presented artfully. Will defo be coming back. Love it
Fantastic food, amazing surroundings and our Waitress Becky was absolutely lovely, she explained everything to us and made great suggestions to help us decide what to have. Credit to Tattu. We will certainly be back.
Steak salad had crazy fresh flavour. Staff had a different level of personality than most places (Emilie and others), really enjoyed it. Care and creativity went into even the non-alcoholic cocktails!
Excellent ambience, atmosphere, food and service. Many thanks.
Excellent food. Decor is beautiful. Service was top!
Second visit—disappointing compared to the first. Nice place if you sit in the main area, decorative blossoms etc. but other seating is a little bit of a let down. And the incense aroma was so strong I was sneezing, my friend coughing. Food was average this visits. Service was great & drinks were nice. Probably won’t go back after this visit.
Lovely meal and great service. We ordered lots of small plates and they came out together. Plates weren’t hot so unfortunately the food went cold quickly. Would recommend but go for dim sum and a main instead of the tapas style menu.
One of the best restaurants in Birmingham! Loved the cocktails, the food, the music, the whole vibe!
Out waitress Becky was so knowledge of the menu and lovely!
Place is amazing and the food is delicious!
Thank you to the chef for creating me my own salad!
Brilliant ambiance, great customer service from Hannah! Really made us feel welcome!
The most beautiful restaurant, great food but is on the pricey side however you it is a special place
Have to say this venue is amazing. But the food really lets it down. Just was not tasty. Had the set menu. It looks great but needs taste needs working on. Owners should id go to Hakkasan in London as guess thats what they are looking to achieve, and was hoping that was what it would be similar to. A lot of money has been spent on the venue. Just think food needs to step up to match.
I was recommended Tattu by my niece. I was really looking forward to the evening, especially as the photos online suggested a well presented, highly decorative plate of food.
Unfortunately, even though the restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was good, the food was poor.
Most of the food options seemed to be covered in batter, (I later suffered an unset stomach due to the heaviness of the batter.)
Most of the meal was bland and the presentation was average. No delicate, edible flowers were on our plates as photographs suggested.
Apart from the average food served, one of the starters arrived 20 minutes after the other 3 persons starters had been eaten. We had to cancel a dessert which we waited for another 20 minutes.
It was an expensive meal for average food.
Went for pur anniversary, absolutely amazing and so fancy. Felt like I was in another country. Definitely recommend the cherry blossom for dessert or cheesecake
A superbly designed restaurant with food to match. Food choice & quality was excellent, would definitely return
If you like chain restaurants with little ambience you will like this place
It is underground with no daylight
Staff were either too attentive or not attentive enough
Food was average
Shan't be going again
Birthday was amazing
Fantastic food, lovely waitress, great decor; will definitely be returning
I went there for a birthday party on Friday and was slightly disappointed when ordering as the waitress had to come back to the table 4 times to tell us they had ran out of things we had ordered. I know there are lots of other things to choose from however, being gluten free and limited it was disappointed that most things were not available.
Atmosphere is incredible and main causes were delicious
Food was great. Starters mains and desserts.
Big thank you to Charlie! Made the experience extra special with her excellent hosting
It was a lovely restaurant and the drinks and service were amazing. However the food was very overpriced for what you actually received.
Visited Friday for the first time. Restaurant decorated beautifully. Trains were all cancelled and we were running later so rang to explain, we were told we could only have our table for 2.5 hours no matter when we arrived so wasn’t very helpful considering all trains were cancelled and you would expect it affected quite a few of your customers. Arrived 15 minutes late, shown around the restaurant and to our table. Waitress very knowledgeable but quite abrupt. Food absolutely gorgeous but extremely small portions. Very expensive for the portion you get. Drinks nice but again expensive. Waiter tried to take some of our cocktail away that we hadn’t even poured so had to chase him to get it back. Didn’t have pudding. Overall a lovely night but I was still hungry after my meal.
Wow! The service was absolutely incredible. Really worth the value :D
Food and service was exceptional, will definitely be going back soon.
Possibly a slightly unfair 3* as This restaurant is excellent on many levels, however we thought the offering was overpriced for what it was.
We can’t really fault the quality of the food, as we ate it all. But it must be said Some of it wasn’t really to our taste,
We had the menu option 3. Of this the first two waves were only average, (with the exception of the seared tuna) however the main course and desserts were outstanding. Overall though we thought the meal was overpriced, as it didn’t offer enough over any of the other good Chinese restaurants in Birmingham.
Our server Wickoria, was excellent.
Again another restaurant that adds a service charge to the bill. A practice I personally can not stand. This is a restaurant, it is their job to serve you the food.
The bar service while we waited for the table was good, as were the cocktails.
Amazing food and service at Tattu.
The set lunch menu is great value. Can’t wait to return.
We have visited Tattu before but unfortunately this time the service was very slow
We had to wait longer than would be expected before our order was eventually taken
We also had to wait for the main course to arrive
We would also point out that the staff were very attentive and we were happy
with Ross our waiter
Great hosting, accommodated requests for partner’s birthday. Food and atmosphere were amazing
High hopes; beautiful venue, lovely, chatty engaging staff, great menu, good drinks options. Starters were initially great but our 3rd arrived 10 minutes after we’d finished our first two; one main course was cold and we’d finished the other when it arrived. Waiter apologised profusely but avoided us after the main was wrong.
Lite cocktails were amazing!
Would we go back? Maybe. Is the food great - not compared to some of the better ones like Yauatcha.
