Tavern at the Sun Inn
As we adjust to outdoors and staffing concerns, some areas of our restaurant may be closed off.
Taverns were a center of daily life in colonial times. They were the local, social and political hubs that spawned the thinking that led to the American Revolution. Tavern at the Sun Inn continues in this tradition offering a Colonial-inspired Seasonal food and beverage menu in a truly unique gathering spot.
Tavern’s culinary team is led by Billy Gruenewald. He offers a casual tavern-style menu that changes to match what is seasonally available and features some ingredients that would have been available to Bethlehem’s founders. Dinner is served on the Sun Inn’s second floor and light fare and drinks outdoors on the beautiful North Green when the weather permits.
Outdoor seating is first come first serve.

Everyone was very attentive. The food was excellent. A perfect evening and great atmosphere to entertain family we haven’t seen in 30 years . A memorable evening.
It is always a good meal there but unfortunately we would have rather have been seated inside but with only one server, who already had table outside it would have been a long wait.
Loved our experience as it was our first time. Menu could use a few more options.
That’s all but great time on the patio.
Historical structure, good service, average food.
We love the history and authenticity of The Sun Inn. We were reuniting with dear friends and were able to communicate easy while enjoying the ambiance and delicious lunch. Service was spot on.
Waited a long time for our wine. And outdoor patio was not crowded. My chicken Flatbread was okay but cold. Husband's burger was very overcooked and he ordered it medium rare. Won't be back again.
A newer menu that had a nice variety. From speciality burger to strip steak to veggie ravioli all were excellent. Plus a great historic location with super service to boot…We will be back!
So good. Beet crostini and burrata apps were amazing. Service great. No complaints!
Great historic building and great property in general. The outdoor seating area was wonderful. I think they have an opportunity to do more with their menu both food and beverage. The food we ordered was good but I think they would be better served if they upgraded the options.
Staff was friendly and accommodating with our request to sit outside. Great food and service.
We love the Tavern at the Sun Inn, both outside dining and inside dining upstairs at the bar and dining room. We are always happy with the fresh farm-to-table ingredients, and the lobster roll, called the peasant roll, is always delicious.
Delicious and fresh. Great service. Excellent environment.
Everything was wonderful, the staff, the food and the live music was great
Ashlee is the absolute best!!! She has been our server several times at this point and is always the best!!!
Nice bar. Food was ok bar food. Nothing spectacular. Flat bread came out cold. Much better restaurants in area to spend money
Dined in the courtyard. It was wonderful. Our server Scotty was fantastic!
The history of the Sun Inn gives one the opportunity to reflect on those who came before.
Love this place! Try the Peasant Roll! Also, the owners are so nice and accommodating!
What a beautiful historic Inn! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. This place holds many memories for us and it certainly didn't disappoint!
Scotty our waiter was amazing. So accommodating and great personality!
The perfect meal. Ate outdoors on the patio. Steak and duck were cooked to perfection. Never a bad experience here!
Very pleasant meal, blackened cod was delicious.
We started our evening with tastings from Christmas City Distillery with no rush to be seated. Made a few purchases!
Drink orders came in a timely manner .
Appetizer of CheeseWheel was Devine.
Salads were delicious
Main course a culinary delete.
A lovely meal in a historic setting with excellent service. A simple, unpretentious menu. Duck breast was excellent. As was blueberry bread pudding desert.
What a wonderful historical restaurant where President George Washington dined!! Food was amazing and our server was excellent he knew all the history surrounding the restaurant and town! Highly recommend!
We live a few blocks away and always enjoy the unique ambience in the historic Sun Inn, dating back to Revolutionary War I
Indoor and outdoor seating are great, each with its own distinct vibe.
Specialty drinks provide authentic tie-in with heritage theme and are delish and generous.
Due to Pennsylvania’s restaurant restrictions, they currently have a streamlined menu which makes service faster while maintaining high quality.
We’ve enjoyed couples nights and birthday parties, all creating special memories:)
We had a wonderful night at the Tavern at the Sun Inn!
When I arrived for a 6:00 reservation I was told there was a 30 minute wait for the dining side that had tables not picnic tables. The drink and menu were very limited with the items to choose from. I didn’t stay I went to another establishment. The building is absolutely stunning and I have had wine in the past that I have enjoyed. I don’t foresee coming back for dining.
We love dining outdoors with friends at The Sun Inn courtyard. The food and service never disappoint. The night we were there, they has some delicious sangria's available. Yum. (We did not care for the "wine slushy") Only additional comment would be regarding reservations. We made reservations well in advance online though" OpenTable for our last visit. We arrived on time and was told we would have to wait an additional 20 minutes! Hoping if we make reservations again, this won't be the case. That said, everything else was very good and we'll definitely visit again!
Enjoyed!! ,................. .. .... . ......
New waitress in training. First round of drinks were spilled causing a delay. Then our appetizers and salads came out together and dinner right behind them. Everything was good, just would have been better if it was served in a timely way. Manager apologized and offered to remake entrees. Would go back.
Great food and excellent service!
The staff was wonderful & very accommodating. My friend found that her drink was not to her liking and our server asked her if she could make a special concoction for her after hearing why she didn't like the first drink. When she came back with the special concoction, my friend absolutely loved it. That meant so much to both of us. Exceptional service. Thank you guys!
The food and service contributed to a very enjoyable evening.
We enjoyed it. Considering we ate dinner there, during the slow open of the pandemic.
A wonderful meal at a historic landmark where many founders of our county including George
Washington once stayed! Highly recommend dining here especially for history buffs!
Small menu so real need to be overwhelmed! Service is always stellar and food is perfect! I could go on and on.
We loved getting out for a much needed date night and chose the Sun Inn- we were not disappointed! The outdoor space is perfect and the service was attentive. We had excellent drinks and our food was great!
