Tavern in the Square - Shrewsbury
While the server was pleasant and confident, something went wrong between her and the kitchen. Food came out wrong fir several items, but everyone (4) got their food around same time and only at the end was an apology offered
Brunch was "meh." The made to order omelette was small and overcooked, the pancakes were very flat, the french toast was very very hard. The muffins and breads looked ok. The eggs benedict was good. Dessert was ice cream with toppings, but the toppings weren't replenished. The cheesecake was as a Costco special. The lunch food was better - but not worth the cost. Also, they ran out of soap in the ladies room and no one seemed concerned. Ditto for replacing servers at the buffet..certainly not hypervigilant on sanitation. Service was good. Drinks were good. I recommend you stick to the bar and appetizers if you go.
Great place all around! High recommend! Perfect experience.
Not the best of nights. We were seating in the outdoor patio area. It was winterized with heaters, but that night was freezing and extremely windy. So you felt each gust come right through. I ate dinner with my winter coat on!
Apps were awesome. Dinner came and 3 of us enjoyed ours, but my husbands meal had a big piece of plastic wrap in the mashed potatoes.
I understand these things happen, but it still damps the experience when it does. Staff was great about it though. Bar manager took his drinks off the bill and the restaurant manger removed the meal from the bill. Everyone apologized, but my husband had lost his appetite at that point.
Fabulous food but the sitting in the outside room was freezing we had to wear our jackets and we still were very cold.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was very, very good. Waitress was very attentive and provided excellent service. We did feel that this restaurant was a little pricey. Two General Tso's chicken dinners and 4 glasses of white wine = $92.00 without tip. Otherwise a very pleasant experience.
Great food, service, and attention to details. Thanks
Joseph our waiter was great about providing allergy information, keeping our wide variety of orders and all ages in our group happy. Good food and nice selection.
We had the brunch on Sunday and it was amazing! I would highly recommend it.
Great meals and staff.
Great atmosphere, got seated immediately, waitress was friendly and quick with every request. Great meal out!
The food is always excellent, service is great! Great atmosphere for families or just adults!
Wait time for food was just too much! Our waitress had no interest in serving us I guess as our silverware was missing when appetizers were served, and main course was too late as well. We really wanted dessert but she wouldn't bother come to us and ask if we would like some. Finally she showed up and we mentioned we would order only if it would be quick and she said absolutely. Then doesn't really care about our order and keeps chatting with the people at the next table. We later told her you know what just cancel the dessert and get us the check as we are really late now. She's like ok and she comes back with the check saying btw your dessert wasnt even put in the oven. We were really sad to see this kindda service at our favorite Tavern!! We love the food, the ambience but sorry the service is too slow so unless you have hours on hand please skip it.
It was great and the brunch buffet was phenomenal! I’ll definitely go back!
Great brunch! Lots of great options and the price was great!
Sunday brunch was awesome! So many choices and only $20. It was a steal!! We were there for 4 hours and had a great time!!
The service was below the rating in the negative range. The food was cold and below average. Over all the experience was so bad I will not go again and would advise you to stay away.
I have to say I have had dinner a few times and was not too impressed with the menu selection but I really do enjoy the brunch and have been there several times.
It was very cold on the patio.
Great service! Food is always great too
It was great atmosphere. It was a little loud, food was great, but a tad expensive.
Overall great experience. There were a ton of food options and the drinks were fantastic. I was disappointed that we were seated in the closed in outside part and it was freezing cold.
Such a wonderful brunch with a wide variety to choose from.
Date night with my wife on New Year’s Eve. The service was spectacular, and I’m generally a tough critic on that. The nachos were fantastic and again I’m a tough critic when it comes to my comfort food :-)
Good food and great service
Very nice—good food
Game on tv👍
Food was excellent. Service was outstanding. Melissa was our server and everything came out as ordered. Highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed.
The food was very poorly prepared. My son had the salmon, which smelled funny when they brought it to our table. We weren't in the car 10 minutes when he was violently sick. So I paid for dinner & having to have my car detailed the next day. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Appetizers & entrees were good
My manager took us out to eat to thank us for a year of hard work. This is our second year coming here for this "thank you" dinner and both times have been pleasant, enjoyable - good service, great food! It was easy to talk with my colleagues even though we were in a restaurant setting.
Waitress was exceptional!!!
Great gluten free food and beer!! We would come back anytime. Wait staff was also exceptional!
Good pick for a work lunch, but really... why must music be so loud during the middle of the day? This is hardly an issue strictly at the Tavern. Practically every restaurant feels the need to pump up the volume way more than is necessary when it's not either a peek time or late night. Let's start a movement for quieter settings during the day.
I took my 14 y/o here for brunch this week. Overall we had a good experience. The food was mostly good and there was a decent variety. She is very picky and managed to find dishes that she enjoyed. Between the two us we tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed most of them.
The only things we didn’t enjoy were the pastries. They were mostly stale. Also the eggs on the eggs Benedict dishes were overcooked. I had one when we first arrived and it was fine. I got another later for my 14 y/o and it was more a soft boiled consistently.
Despite these two issues we would visit again for brunch.
We went for Sunday Brunch with a party of 9 . The food was amazing and staff did a great job replenishing the food as it became low. It is absolutely the best brunch around. The only thing I would say wasn't perfect was your waitress didnt come by once to take our plates. We had a stack of plates at the end of the table and when I asked for the water to be refilled she didnt even take the plates. She was very young and maybe new but we were a party of 9 so room at the table was a issue. Overall it is a great place.
Our waitress was awesome. So attentive and friendly
Our waitress was amazing. Food was good but had 2 issues. We were sat on the patio. I was told it wouldn’t be cold. They sat ya next to one of the doors and coverings. The breeze coming through the windows left my companion & I no choice but to leave our jackets on. I won’t even go into the inconsiderate people opening the door right behind my back.
The next issue I blame the kitchen staff. I ordered a chopped Greek salad to go but that was no what I received. My fault for not confirming what I was given but it shouldn’t have been that hard to give me what i order
