We were welcomed by friendly staff and the restaurant had few bookings in order to cater to COVID restrictions. Menus were online and staff wore protective visors, which made the experience comfortable in knowing that safe hygiene practices were in place. The food was excellent and it was overall a great experience. I would recommend and return.
Great atmosphere, decent food but service is slow and then they bustle you out because they've got people waiting!
Fantastic place! Been a real gem through lockdown with their fresh produce, now they are are back open as a restaurant the food, and quality really shine! Fantastic, authentic Italian. They are also being very good, and careful about social distancing, and contact information which in current times is a real help for reducing anxiety about dining out. I'll be returning very soon!
Place is way overpriced for the quality of food you will get. Home made pasta is nice but the sauce you will get with it’s very plain. Starters prices are the same as some of the main dishes, but again the taste of it is just not worth the money.
Very chilled restaurant with friendly staff and great food
Fantastic Authentic Italian food!
Taverna Trastevere is ana amazing Italian restaurant. I felt like I was in Rome.
Everything a neighbourhood Italian should be. And if you're brave enough to try the tripe, you won't regret it
Top notch Italian food and probably the best sign was it was filled with Italians having lunch so they probably know authentic food when they see it.
Only negative points were
1 the price - it's relatively expensive but if you want cheap and cheerful look elsewhere. Wine list quite pricey too.
2 noise - maybe it was our particular seat but was quite hard to hear the person opposite me even on a quiet Sunday lunch.
The best Italian restaurant in London... The quality of the food is absolutely delicious
I’ll come back definitely
Wonderful meal! We felt like we were in Rome. Can’t wait to go back
Went there for the first time after reading all these great reviews! Was not disappointed - food )
Our new favorite restaurant! Really authentic “cucina romana”, really sad that I haven’t discovered earlier!
Excellent cacio e pepe! The servers were attentive and the atmosphere is genial and quiet. Would absolutely recommend to people looking for a slice of Rome in South London.
Lovely restaurant with very friendly staff. We ate Pizzas which were absolutely delicious. Very thin crust and just the right amount of topping. Good choice of wines and reasonably priced. Will definitely go there again
Delicious authentic Italian food. Good quality ingredients. Super friendly staff. Big fan!
great authentic food, service and ambiance
Good if you want pizza - thin bases and freshly prepared. The trattoria-style food sounds much better than the reality, at least on the night I was there.
Great as usual
Amazing restaurant - food is proper Italian and for a little more than a chain restaurant you get a million times better food. Restaurant is really nicely done, feels authentic. And whilst it’s quite noisy it does have a brilliant buzzy atmosphere. We had to wait a very long time between starter and main course and we were starving! Started to become impatient. But everything else made it ok. Highly recommend this place.
I pass this place every day on my commute and finally went in - I was not disappointed!! The gnocchi with pumpkin cream and Gorgonzola insane, as are the pizzas - classic Roman style, crispy, wafer thin. The restaurant is named after the famous Trastevere district in Rome and the food really emanates that. I’ll be going back and trying the rest of the menu soon!
Excellent food and great service from a family oriented restaurant!
The food was INCREDIBLE. Proper Italian food cooked to perfection and great (not too big) portion sizes. The venue is gorgeous with lots of lovely lights, very pretty and cosy. Quite small which gives a nice intimate feeling. They need to improve on the service though, the waiters were not attentive and we had to wave our arms to order many times. Delays on bringing wine over when it was poured and sat on the bar for ages too. However I think the restaurant is fairly new and once they sort the service issues it could easily become my favourite restaurant in Clapham junction.
Food was great, true roman dishes with authentic taste.
The food was overall bad, the pasta was not handmade as advertised. We ordered Amatriciana, it arrived really undercooked. We asked them to prepare it again, but they put it in the microwave and served it again after few minutes in a boiling plate (so obvious!). We sought the waiter attention and refused to eat it, he then started making comments in Italian with his colleague, assuming we wouldn’t understand as we were speaking English, which I found really unprofessional. A senior member of staff (I presume) offered an apology, but we decided not to order anything else. The restaurant had been recommended to us by a close friend and we are sorry to admit it was a complete disappointment. We will not go back again and definitely we won’t recommend it.
Fantastic local restaurant, lovely to see it busy on a Wednesday night! Great food , friendly staff, will definitely be back. The spaghetti vongole are delicious too.
Real Roman cuisine (not at all fake or 'british'style recipes) , genuine and very good ingredients are used.
Nice staff, very professional and always around to check and serve and tidy up.
Very good place, also a big choice of good Italian wines.
The espresso was like we do in Italy as well.
Amazing experience. Authentically delicious Italian food with great service.
Being Italian, I have very high standards and Taverna Trastevere exceeded my expectations!
I definitely recommend a visit.
Always good here - sea bass or pizza - doesn’t matter because it will be well cooked and served by friendly staff
Everything is great except every time the door opens the cold gets in. People sitting with their coats on is never good. This needs to be rectified as otherwise it is fantastic
fantastic Roman food and atmosphere
This was the second time we've been to Taverna Trastevere and it was fantastic. Amazing starters, pizza and wine, plus great service. The food was quite quick to arrive as we were there not long after it opening, and it wasn't too busy/loud at that time either.
My only gripe about the place is the tables are really close together, so when it's busy it could be quite uncomfortable, but cannot fault the food and we'll definitely be back.
Best Roman restaurant in London
We keep going back. Best 'Roman' style pizza in London. Good Gluten free options, but the addition of a gluten free pizaa would make this the best in town!
We have been to this restaurant a few times and unfortunately the dishes are always quite salty - doesn’t make for a great experience! Not sure if we are going to come back.
Nice atmosphere, we had high expectations. It was good overall but not as good as we thought. Watch out for overpriced water, ask for water instead!
We were looking really forward to going here but were disappointed. What did not help is that they were understaffed so forgot our mains. Given that everyone around us had been served, I would have thought the might have noticed but in the end we had to tell them. This still resulted in quite a long wait. The suppli were nicely cooked but a bit tasteless and dry. The pasta was very nicely cooked but the pizza was also a bit flavourless. The house red wine was quite nice tasting and reasonable value. Overall a disappointing visit and a surprisingly high 20% tip automatically added.
Great tasting food.
Great local Italian. Even on a very busy Saturday night, the standard of food did not drop and service was efficient. Highly recommend.
