We look forward to serving you soon!
The food and ambiance was excellent, however the service was a little disjointed and we had to ask for quite a few things. The white wine we ordered wasn't cold enough and our bottle of red arrived without the top unscrewed.
We like the live music very much so don't stop, but eating in the second room down on the right the
music was quite loud and we had difficulty making ourselves heard.
Otherwise all good.
Regards, Jeff Russell
Another perfect evening, and the weather was kind so were able to sit outside which was lovely, fabulous atmosphere and brilliant staff. One of our favourite places to eat in Cirencester!
We will definitely be back, but the service was a bit slow tbh (new staff? Some of whom were being trained in front of us).
There was a full plate dropped close by to us, which was slightly alarming, and I had to go to the bar a couple of time to get a glass of wine too as no one offered us anything, despite walking past our empty glasses..
The menu was fantastic. Great range of choices. My partner ordered the mackerel followed by bream fillets - both of which were excellent. I started with the salmon (amazing texture) but the lamb was a bit chewy for me. We asked for a pudding - rather than being offered one - to be told that there wasn't time. (Slightly strange when we hadn't hung around with our meal, and you knew we were going to the theatre.)
So - yes, we will be back but this wasn't a trip of undiluted successes.
I was with guests and it seems their food was very good, however, my main (Skate) had a funny taste and was unwell later that night, however, I did not want to say anything as my guests seemed to have a very good experience and I did not want to spoil the evening (typically British!) as they had travelled all the way from Australia. I would say my starter was very good and the desert also good but that skate did not taste good. I do not think I could recommend to friends based on this experience and I would be reluctant to use this venue again over others in Cirencester
We had a lovely Sunday lunch. The only reason I deducted from the food was that some of the duck in the terrine was raw. It will not stop us from returning though. Staff were great and very good value for money. Keep it up guys you’re doing a great job!
Good food in very pleasant surroundings, we enjoyed the slightly eccentric flamingo room and the food was very good although perhaps a little off the wall for more traditional diners. Well worth a visit
We were rather disappointed that we had to rush the dessert course because we were due at The Barn for 7.30 pm. This was despite the fact that we were seated at our table 20 minutes before our allocation at 15.45.
We enjoyed an excellent pre-theatre supper last week and would definitely recommend it to our friends.
Food was well thought out. Waitstaff inexperienced. Knew nothing about the cheese selection nor was it described in the menu. We were sat by the coffee machine in a full noisy room despite many open table throughout restaurant, disappointing.
A great place to eat before going to the Barn Theatre next door.
Good food and excellent service, well worth an encore.
Just on the edge of Cirencester town centre beside the theatre, this place is an absolute treat. Well laid out with both a bar and restaurant, with a really nice outside area too, and fascinating decor. We were there on a Saturday evening and got to enjoy a really good band in the background.
Menu is great, the food is amazing, and the staff are brilliant. Jill, who took care of us, was absolutely superb - thank you. Price-wise, incredibly good value for the quality, attention and service you get.
Quite simply one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of visiting!
Came here with my partner with little expectation - but gosh I was in for a pleasant surprise. We arrived at 7:15 and the place was pretty much full.
We started with a lovely cocktail in the bar area - which is very tastefully done, and a lovely big piano in the corner. Ambient music playing softly in the background.
We were then taken to our table once we had finished our cocktails. Again, lovely decor and ambient lighting. Our waitress for very polite and very prompt - no hanging around to be served, or for the bill.
The food options were genuinely interested - and perfectly cooked. I had the lamb, and my partner a giant T-bone steak.
Can't recommend this place enough! Will be going back when we're next in Cirencester.
We had a 2 course pre-theatre meal. All the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. My only comment is that it would be good to have some vegetables included in the main, without having to order sides.
Other than that we had a lovely meal, we liked the surroundings and the restaurant is a great addition to the town
The food was really very good, the atmosphere was buzzy, however the staff were very slow at serving us drinks and food and we were in a hurry to go to the theatre. When they did serve us they were charming, friendly, knowledgeable and polite.
This has become our favourite place in Cirencester. Never disappoints with variety of menu, quality of food and friendly service.
Food was excellent, a little noisy in the main bar so we sat in another room. One of the best meals we have had locally.... One piece of advice for the owners, get in large bottle of sparkling water...
Fabulous food served beautifully, like a work of art, great service, and amazing music.
We had a lovely meal and great service.
Keep coming back bringing new friends and have never been disappointed. Food is fantastic. Have mostly gone along pre theatre would thoughly recommend
The ambience and the service were excellent and three of the four of us found the food excellent, one disappointing. I tasted three of the sweets and found them bland and a rather odd combination of flavours.
The wine was reasonable and overall I would return for a special occasion.
Teatro has a lot in its favour and the various themed rooms are great, but the layout means that the rooms are off a corridor and attracting the attention of a waiter/waitress is difficult. Many times they walked straight past our room en route from one location to another. Even when I wanted to settle our bill I had to stand by the till so that they notice me. It could be because they're under staffed?
Food is small portions but big prices.
So, we will visit again for a drink as the rooms and indeed the seating outside are really lovely, but not sure we'd want to eat there again at those prices.
Outstanding food, consistently good. Well thought out seasonal menu.
Lovely time at Teatro. Cocktails and food were outstanding. Friendly service. Enjoyable live music. Would come back next time we are in the Cotswolds.
Gorgeous meal! Really lovely food and able to adapt the menu for dairy free
Great service as always.
Cheese soufflé and salmon were delicious. My partners soup was delicious. steak a little grisly , chips too salty.
Extremely disappointing sadly. What a great place to be situated enabling ore theatre food but let down on all fronts for our first visit. The bar smelled of boiled cabbage as you entered- maybe damp from being low down? Burgers were dry , rolls burnt and waiter did not check if our food was okay even at the end of our meal. He could clearly see the burnt rolls had been left and even that did not prompt him. Salmon was good but at a cost of 17.75 for a small piece with tbT amount of potato inside and four sprigs of asparagus it was vastly over priced. At the end we felt we had to say something and a tiny 10% was taken off the bill.
We felt it was not value for money, service left a lot to be desired and we won’t be returning - very sad as we are local.
Yet another wonderful evening spent at Teatro with friends celebrating their anniversary. The new menu was delicious and everything we ordered was presented beautifully and the service was excellent! Finished off with a cocktail in the bar seduced by the wonderful piano playing and singer.
Very friendly atmosphere
One starter course was not as we expected and it was taken off the bill. Couldn't ask for fairer service
Another lovely visit to this super restaurant. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Thank you.
Excellant restaurant, we were there for a pre show dinner. Perfect. Only little complaint we were left with our plates not being cleared for a while and then ran out of time as we were going to the theatre next door, to order coffee or dessert even if we had wanted one! Other than that great and our waiter was actually lovely. Think they were short staffed!
We were looked after by a lovely waitress. Unfortunately 2 of the 5 steaks weren't quite right. Mine was delicious but one of the rib eyes was chewy and one of the fillets was overcooked. When they brought it back, they brought the wrong sauce (which we didn't mention then - just too much!) and unfortunately, as medium rare, it was still cooked more or less right through. This was probably partly due to being uneven in thickness. When they brought the bill, they had taken the steak off which we appreciated and they thanked us for letting them know the second one still hadn't been right. Our starters were good, especially the octopus and the duck salad. The Raviolo with consomme didn't have much in the way of consomme so was a little dry. It tasted good though. We had a delicious and well priced bottle of wine.
We had a lovely pre-theatre meal at Teatro last Saturday. The food was excellent and we liked that the portion sizes were sensible. There was background music at a level where it filled the silence but didn't intrude on conversation. We particularly liked that the tables are not rammed in, there is space between them so that you feel you are eating with your chosen companions, not the rest of the clientele. The staff were attentive and thoughful, checking whether we were attending the theatre and advising us when the time to go was close. They kindly supplied our son-in-law with coffee in a cup he could take into the theatre, having discovered that the bar didn't have hot drinks available. It's not the cheapest, so we might not eat there every time we go to a performance, but the quality of the food was worth the cost.
Nice meal before the show, only had time for 2 courses as the waiters were busy and not fully engaged in getting pre show diners served promptly - we sat down at 5.45 for 7.30 show.
I find this a really difficult place to comment upon.
Food can be really good - or very disappointing. Service is always friendly, but when it's busy it can be painfully slow.
We've visited a couple of times in the past month. The first time we only wanted mains, dessert and cheese. We had to request drinks and for our food order to be taken. It was then almost an hour before we saw anything to eat and sadly it was returned because the fish was overcooked.
Last meal was much slicker and much better, but the cauliflower steak was..... well nothing exciting and mainly salad leaves. Dessert - pear was rock hard. Starters however were great and my partner's main very good.
We love the live music on a Friday and Saturday night and that's a major draw for us. I just wish they'd get the food sorted out.
We enjoyed a lovely meal . The staff were very attentive and approachable. Great ambience as there was live music in the bar area.
Steak was very over cooked on one side and very fatty and the cod was part cold and the vegetables the beer was over price 5 pound for a san miguel
A super place to eat, very friendly staff with an atmospheric location. Ideal if seeing a show at the Barn Theatre next door
Gorgeous food, service went above and beyond to celebrate my friends birthday, and the piano player was brilliant
We really enjoyed our evening at Teatro with friends last Saturday. The wine was very good, food was very tasty and of a very good standard. The staff were friendly and efficient...
We will return
Vegan options are not as advertised. Service is slow. Music way too loud so have to shout during dinner. Food made me very unwell.
