temper City has one of the biggest tequila and mezcal lists around. There's a huge cocktail and gin offering, plus hackney lager on tap. temper was recently voted the best cocktail restaurant in the UK, and temper City is no exception.
There are large booths, banqueting tables, bar seats to watch the kitchen at work, a huge private-hire mezzanine and an outdoor area where you can catch the best of the British summer or wintertime.
We take reservations throughout the day and we always try to save spots for walk-ins.
temper city is a fantastic new venue in the City. Fire, steaks and Gin take lead on the menu and this grand industrial dining room with fire pit provides a unique backdrop for any occasion. Temper City is a great spot for a special meal. The food is fantastic and the staff are really friendly. I’ve been a few times and would definitely return again.
Outstanding steak, good wine list to match, super attentive and friendly staff - get the spot in front of the grill and you will be salivating well before your food arrived. can't recommend this more
The food quality was very poor, as right after our dinner we suffered from stomach sickness. Will not come back or recommend to anyone.
PS the nachos was the most miserable dish we ever had and definitely not enough to be described as 'to share'
Great food, service and friendly staff! Will be going back again for some tasty steaks! Thank you, our group had a great time!
Although the menu was so small I could hardly read it in the dark, the waiter did a great job recommending the best dishes available.
The food was amazing and very filling.
Disappointed not to be able to find the ladies and had to use the disabled toilet which was lacking in the bare essentials!
Great food albeit the old menu was more interesting.
Amazing steaks, and expertly cooked.
Very friendly waitress too
Nothing special. It was ok. Bit expensive for the quality. Mainly meat. Nothing for vegetarian or seafood fans.
Seemed a bit like a franchises restaurant ..
Overpriced, Indulgent, Opulent. I’ve had much better meals with better service for half the price.
Great cuts of meet, properly treated, cooked simply and to perfection with simple sides that compliment and do not detract from the main show.
Fab food service and atmosphere. Manager was great and the lunchtime deal a good option!
Service was welcoming and efficient throughout. Whilst the food tasted good and certainly there were nice twists in the starters, we ordered the chateaubriand (as there were two of us) which did not represent good value for money.
Absolutely incredible food - the cheeseburger tacos and beef skewers in particular
A business dinner for 4, we were given a table right by the food collection point, so despite the rest of the place have nice low lighting - our table was under interrogation with the warming lights glaring at us non-stop. OK - probably would have been a better spot to put bar tables than dining tables, but ok.
Our waitress was not keen on smiling, wanted us to order ASAP, and liked to do that thing where she thought as long as she said 'sorry' before she interrupted our conversation, she could interrupt at any time. Even to ask us to pass an empty bottle of wine so she could clear it from our table - was it really that important? We were only 4 people, so it wasn't that hard to wait for a second and we would see her and stop. But I guess that wasn't her style.
The food was fine, but nothing standout.
For the last 20 mins of our dinner, a staff member decided that right by our table was the best place to tenderise some meat. Imagine your child banging something repetitively on the table. You'd tell them to off and to stop. But this guy thought he was part of some kind of dinner theatre, and his hammering was somehow enhancing our evening. It wasn't.
So an awful table, rude staff, and then a £300 bill. We won't be back.
We had a great night, food was amazing and the team was very professional. We had a recommendation from one of the waiter and it was just incredible! Thank you so much!
Nice ambience with the big fire pit in the middle flanked by cuts of meat. Service was good. The manager personally oversaw one of our orders as there were some severe allergies that needed to be catered too. Food was great, nice fresh cuts of meat that's been wood fired.
Complained about the food - the beef skewers turned up and was cheeseburger meet around a stick instead of beef chunks as expected. Tasted more like kebab meat. They also didn’t warn us how burning hot the skewers were so we both burnt our hands picking them up! The nachos didn’t have pumpkin on as per the menu and were soggy and tasted of a weird spice. The cheeseburger tacos had the same strong spice on it all. They don’t serve wine by the bottle. The fish tacos were ok.
It might have just been a preference/taste thing but neither of us enjoyed any of the dishes we had and both not normally fussy at all!
The ambience was good but wouldn’t recommend as a bbq place, think there are much nicer ones nearby. We did mention these things to the waitress but she didn’t really care - they were friendly though.
Unfortunately the food took more than an hour to arrive, and when it did - the steaks were cold. The manager explained that they were on the hot plate for a while and in the end did not charge us for them. It was really disappointing because we were sitting at the bar and could see all that nice meat being prepared...
The restaurant has a nice vibe, the menu is quite interesting and we would have definitely enjoyed our dinner if it weren’t for the wait and the cold meat.
Had a fabulous lunch here. The staff were amazing - great fun, efficient and totally engaging. We had a great experience thanks to them. The chefs are some cool dudes and delivered steaks to perfection. Great to watch them in action. Thank you to all - keep doing what you are doing. Well done Fabiana on only your second day!
Noise levels were very high. Continuously asked if wanted more wine or dessert towards end of meal by at least three different waiters. Clearly just trying to sell more and was annoying. Original waiter was great as was food though.
Great place, food was amazing and staff were fab. The mutton poutine fries and the fried chicken were particularly amazing!
Whilst I prefer the steak at Goodmans / Hawksmoor, this is a different experience and the steaks were still big and very tasty. If you want a BBQ finish as opposed to oven finish eat here. Great fun, slightly smoky atmosphere but a nice change up. Good sensible prices also, steaks c.£30 with comparatives at Goodmans / Hawksmoor coming in at £40 and good portions.
Try the dirty chips - very tasty, but clear your afternoon. You won’t be doing much else apart from sleeping after feasting here.
I was recommended this restauraunt by a friend and was utterly disappointed. The sevice was great and so were the starters, but it all unravelled after that. We waited around 30mins for our mains which I had to remind the staff for.
But for me it was about the food. The goat was so salty that I found my thought was feeling parched. The skewers had a wierd taste, this could have been because it was not my taste however unpleasant.
For what I paid I'm not sure this restaurant is really worth it. I think you can find plenty of restaurants in the immediate area and spend the same money and leave with a smile on your face.
I will unfortunately not be returning
Music very good - room is a little lacking in warmth both metaphorically and literally.
Food is decent
Steak was excellent. Great service, good atmosphere, good wine. Not cheap but not much in the City is.
Food was amazing, staff were excellent. The mexican buffalo chicken was some of the nicest I’ve ever tasted. The tacos alone are worth going for.
We were seated and asked if either of us had an allergy, to which we confirmed that there was a peanut allergy. That was politely accommodated with a thorough allergen menu replacing the original one. We spent time studying the menu and choosing our dishes, ordered drinks and food, to THEN be told the chef refused to serve us due to the severity of the allergy.
So if you have an allergy and plan to disclose this to the restaurant, please be prepared to be refused service.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary last Wednesday. Sat at the bar and made to feel like the most important people in the world by hugely attentive staff.
Thank you all so much for helping us celebrate.
Steak was phenomenal, lamb was tender and packed with flavour. Tacos were worth the trip alone.
Overall nice however my rib eye steak was very fatty. My friend had the same his was good so bit of inconsistency with the meat quality. I also ordered a sauce which didn’t arrive.
Great meal. Interesting menu for meat lovers with some good fish dishes as well. Service was friendly although a little bit slow but that wasn't a problem to us. Highly recommended and will probably visit again.
The menu has a good choice of lighter options and fish but the star at Temper is really the meat! It is cooked to perfection, moist and full of flavour. The accompaniments were good (though they could perhaps offer another carb instead of chips) and the cocktails are really well thought out. The ambience is relaxed and modern though you can still have a professional meeting there. Overall one of my favourite places to take clients in the City.
Great food, cocktails and Great waiter (Emmanuel from Temper soho)
They really know how to cook a steak. Beautiful food, great atmosphere and I loved sitting at the bar and watching the chefs create their magic. It’s not cheap but worth it for a special occasion.
Amazing service from the get go and the food is outstanding.
We sat at the bar facing the open pit fire watching the meat cook. They are a well organised brigade and very engaging which is like being sat at the chefs table without the expense or snobbery!
Everything was on point. The team are a credit to Neil.
Thanks for a great experience
Restaurant looks lovely and food was great. Service was soaking. Started ok and then went very down hill, we had to flag Teo People for cutlery they plonk stuff on your table and then walk off before we can say we got a butter knife for steak. No offer of extra drinks or dessert menu waited 25 min after lates were taken away and got fed up and had to hunt a misrable looking woman for bill . The only thing the dealt with fast and efficiently surprise surprise. I love the concept and food of temper but wil never go to this restaurant again and I Came here to test out for client lunch and will def not take a client here. We went to the Bed for dessert and had amazing service there for dessert.
Food was great but service poor. Drinks took an age to arrive. We were charged for an extra bottle of wine and when we noticed they didn’t exactly offer an apology. A shame. Won’t be going back
Service was great. All staff was very friendly and helpful. But We found our main course...t-bone and rump steak very very salty. And unfortunately we sent our desserts back. It was a fun night but I wouldn’t hurry back.
Food excellent as always - service v slow - wine order arrived after 20 min!
Booking was not in the system even though I was rang earlier that day to confirm. Rather than getting a table we were placed at the bar. The service was chaotic but the food was good.
Great steak and under £30 for 500g. Side dishes nice and service was excellent. Ambience also really nice and quite fun.
