Dined with my wife on a Saturday night - was surprisingly busy for a Saturday night in the city. Food was delicious and delightfully different - Indian flavours meets BBQ. The squid pakora and pork belly curry were particular highlights. Vibrant atmosphere - can imagine this being a great place to go with a group of friends as the drinks list is great and the strong flavours stand up really well to free flowing booze. Altogether a really fun night with brilliant food and service.
Amazing service! As soon as I entered the resturant there was a member of staff to assist me to the waiting area. Food was delivered speedily. Overall a great experience!
Another fantastic meal at Temper. We've been a few times now and it's been brilliant every time. I tried the octopus starter and it was delicious, really tender. My chicken main course was equally yummy and was served with a salad, so I felt very healthy (hides the beer). I didn't have room for dessert but managed a spoonful of the husband's bananadrama - fantastic.
Great location, friendly staff, delicious food, and change out of £100. Great music too!
Excellent food and service- the chef Neil Rankin was known to us and was the specific reason for visiting the restaurant- and we were not disappointed on any level. The menu is adventurous and dishes were all incredibly tasty (4 starters, 4 main course. and 2 deserts). Highlight Korean Haggis (nice twist), mutton roll and crab cakes- rump steak and beef rib. Service was outstanding and friendly/ truly 5* and highly recommended
Abbiamo cenato molto bene , carne ottima i condimenti forse troppo speziati per palati italiani ma per il classico tutto perfetto , i camerieri erano simpatici e il locale molto bello
I reserved a table at Temper City for a Saturday dinner for four people with the intention to order the Feasting menu they list on their website. Unfortunately we were told when we arrived and were handed the standard menus that the Feasting option was not available and had to be prearranged in advance. Is does not state this anywhere on the Temper City website, nor was it communicated when the booking was taken. This was very disappointing because I made the reservation at this restaurant specifically for the Feasting menu. The food we did order instead was decent, and the staff were friendly and attentive to our table.
Apart from this, the ambiance of the restaurant was awful. We noticed as we arrived that the music was quite loud, booming through the very large restaurant space that on this particular evening was quite empty regarding customers. We asked the waiting staff if the music could be turned down, we believe it was slightly but only for it to be turned up even louder later in the evening. The customers present were trying to enjoy their food and talk with friends across their respective tables and were having to shout at each other to do so. I don't know what type of venue Temper City is trying to be, but for me music is fine in the background as long as it doesn't drown out the entire space. In general, places like this are either a restaurant or a club type venue, not both at the same time.
The place was really nice, the service excellent, our waiter was so nice.
However the food was really not that nice at all.
Really good service. We enjoyed the different food choices. Everything we picked was very tasty!
Little too loud for a business meal. Good food, good atmosphere. Great happy hour!
So much flavour in a cool setting. This restaurant is off the main thoroughfare but worth the find. The pakora, mutton roll, tatties, crispy egg in katsu thali and half chicken were all delicious. We had the Bananarama (deep fried mars bar in banana split) for dessert but it was cold and a bit stodgy by the time it was served - defeating the point of the dessert! Otherwise good, drinks and service were great.
Really disappointed, the food was not very good. The waiting staff were fine but one waitress was very enthusiastic, a bit too enthusiastic.
The fish was undercooked, they need to make sure which fish is hung over the pit first. I found then grilled fish lacked flavour. The dry goat was very salty and I wasn’t not keen on the accompaniment on the thali only good thing was the paratha.
All Temper need to do is give me a spot with my name on it as I simply love this place! The food is excellent brilliant staff who know my name 🙌🙌 and I leave a stone heavier too lol
We had an awesome meal at Temper! Great fun, amazing food, the staff were superb and the 80s tunes were bang on! We will defintey be returning! Highlights were the Korean Haggis, Mutton Roll, homemade kimchi and of course the pork and beef ribs!
Confiding menu with only few dishes outstanding , nice atmosphere- at least while being quite empty. Probably loud when full
Overall we had a great experience. We visited Temper at 7pm on a Saturday and although the restaurant was far from full we waited over an hour for our main courses to arrive (the starters were about 30 mins). The food was well worth waiting for-I had the mince & tattles to start which was pretty awesome followed by the tandoori chicken . We chose a £20 bottle of red from the happy hour menu which was very drinkable, our waitress was brilliant as was the banging 80s soundtrack. In summary a lovely meal, not overly expensive but given the choice I would probably revisit the Soho branch first.
A must try, food amazing, quality ingredients obviously used. all of the staff knowledge of menu and items impressive
Amazing food and experience. Will definitely come back again
Excellent food. Not a great description of how many dishes per person or how to incorporate Thali plates.
Food was good, service was good atmosphere was good too!
Great food and drinks list, really good music and atmosphere. However portions are a bit on the small side and we were a bit disappointed to go at 8pm on a Friday night for some of the main course dishes to have run out!
By far one of the best restaurants we have been to in the last couple of months. Outstanding food, great drinks and fabulous service (...great playlist!). This place is absolutely worth a visit. Certainly coming back!
first visit and very interesting menu
food was great as was the 80s music and atmosphere but the service was lacking.....quite often the boys in our group of 7 - they were 6 of the 7 were sat with empty beer classes and we had to chase for drinks.
Great food with an Indian twist! I had the dry goat thali and really enjoyed it. Lovely vibe to the place; friendly service. Will definitely come back!
Vibrant restaurant providing an exceptional indian dining experience with a fabulous gin menu too!
Really great food, thali plates very good value for money; service was impeccable
A really interesting and creative menu with a mix of Asian and Scottish influences, try the Korean Haggis, it was great. We were in a large group but the setting still feels really intimate. I would come back again with just one or two people and sit at the kitchen counter. Overall a good experience, but not cheap!
This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Everything was fine and we ordered after our waiter had very completely explained the menu and we had our drinks. However it started to go downhill from there. 30 mins later and the starters haven’t arrived the waiter comes back to the table to tell us that they don’t have 3 of the things we had ordered despite it being just after 8pm. So 3 of the 7 had to change their order. 30 minutes later we finally get our starters which were lovely but very disappointed by it being over an hour since we ordered them. It then took over an hour again to receive our mains, we were given a couple of bottles of wine to apologise which was a nice touch but considering the markup on wine it’s no real detriment to the restaurant. Mains arrive and there we’re mixed reviews. The meat was fantastic, tender and perfectly cooked however the chips were uncooked and curry sauce was very watery which again was surprising as it had taken an hour to get them out. One of our group asked for an extra paratha to finish everything up which I was very surprised to see on the bill at the end. We ordered desserts which too less time to come than the mains but still was a long time but were delicious when they did arrive and then we asked for the bill. There was no discount applied despite the debacles with the food ordering and it being extremely late to the table and service was applied automatically. I can see that this restaurant can and does excel and have been to Temper Soho and enjoyed it very much but sadly this wasn’t one of those days and it was very poor.
Friendly, attentive service & really interesting food. Loved sitting at the counter watching the chefs at work. The goat was outstanding, will return to try the smoked lamb for sure
Good service and food and cocktails. Similar to the original soho but with more of an asian and east asian flavour. Highlights were the tomato & charred aubergine curry and tandoor spiced red curry chicken is worth the wait.
Outstanding service, underpinning an excellent evening.
I'm a big fan of temper; the Broadwick St outlet provides something akin to a religious experience for meat-eaters. The new city venue is slick but feels a bit cavernous and vacant, and ultimately ersatz to its sibling. Another favourite, Pitt Cue Co, in their migration to the city seems to be a directly comparable experience in that the ebullience and vibrancy of a more intimate venue is lost somewhat. The menu is good - if a little fussy - and the flavours are great (although the lamb kebab was a bit bland), but it all comes together to feel like an experience less than the sum of its parts.
Scotch bonnet lamb had no heat. Even the waitress (who was excellent) was surprised that it had no kick to it.
The goat was very good though.
A lovely spot. We were the first ones in there so wasn't as vibrant as i'd have expected but you can tell the potential is there and am sure its more buzzy in the evenings. The fire pit in the middle of the restaurant is a great touch and seeing enormous cuts of meat maybe not one for the squeamish vegetarian... Food is lovely, the Squid Pakora was very nice and the thalis provide all the accompaniments without having to worry about sides. The dry goat is a hundred times better than it sounds and the "peshwari dust" would go well on a flip flop. Service was good and attentive. I'll be back for sure.
Hard to find if you’re an out of Towner. Lamb skewer, beef and bbq ribs were all amazing.
Very happy. Staff were great & made the evening a pleasure. Friendly atmosphere & delicious food.
Service was pleasant but incredibly, outrageously slow. The food was ok, but the hour long wait put us off. We had to order a second bottle of wine before the first course actually arrived.
This was my third visit so I do like this restaurant but this visit was a bit disappointing. The Octopus starter was fantastic as always.. tender, spicy and delicious. The squid likewise was a generous portion and delicious. The fish mains were more disappointing. The fish green curry turned out to be a whole mackerel on the bone and the Cullen skink just did not work. I still recommend a visit but stick to the meats!
What a great dinner with my son. The owner came up to say hello and even gave him their latest cool book. Can definitely recommend for adults and children
Fantastic service, really helpful waiter. Great 80s music and ambience. Would definitely recommend but bare in mind the meat cuts sell out quickly as it is butchered on site. Good selection of wines, caters for all palettes and price ranges.
Incredible food, and amazing service, 10/10 would gorge on meat again.
They have limited supplies of some of the cuts of meat (it is butchered on site) - something to bare in mind if you’re planning on eating late and want something specific, but there are plenty of tasty options!
