It was ok the waiter forgot to put through 4 of our dishes so was disappointed with that and Gin and Tonic dessert was awful but was taken off the bill. Brought my work colleagues as had been before and was a bit let down
Really enjoyed our visit to Temper. The warm welcome at the front desk continued throughout our visit. The restaurant has managed to pull off the trick of being more than somewhere you go for good food to somewhere you come away from having a good 'dining experience.' We sat near the cooking area and were served by really friendly knowledgeable front of house staff who appeared to be enjoying the service as much as we did receiving it. Special mention to 'Jemima' (one of the restaurant managers) who made our visit extra special and was a fantastic ambassador for the restaurant. Wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful ambience..... Thank you Temper...We will be back soon.
Delicious food and very attentive staff but definitely a place for special occasions due to the price.
Booked with friends and i had the the chilli beef with bone marrow. Yummy! Service was v good and wine recommendations were spot on. Will be back.
Great food, good music
Our food was really yummy for dinner service. We didn’t get the cookie dessert but it looked great.
This restaurant's strong point is definitely the atmosphere and the 'show' around watching huge pieces of cow and other animals being cooked, chopped and handled while watching the fire, the hot ambers etc. Whilst the goat was delicious, the meat in all the dishes was completely overshadowed by spice. Also there is barely anything on the menu other than meat to cut through the richness, so you not only feel like you're going to get meatsweats all next day but there is no balance in eating the rich dishes to actually make the meat the star, and you also feel like in one evening, you are pretty much killing the planet with enough CO2 from all the red meat that you feel like that type of restaurant is soon going to get banned anyway. It is a brilliant buzzing place, I was just let down by the menu. Also there isn't one proper IPA on draft, the desserts are just overly sweet ice cream in one form or another and I don't really like ice cream, and the red wine special for the evening sold out when I tried to order it, so I ended up drinking drinks that weren't my first choice. When we sat down, the staff were shouting in our ear over the buzz and the music so I felt slightly overwhelmed by the shouting initially. When we were ordering, the staff were also quite pushy in saying that 100g portion isn't going to be enough per person for our starters and mains, yet since it's all rich meat we felt completely stuffed afterwards. There are sharing dishes of 450g which I think no one would be able to finish comfortably. I feel like the restaurant was trying to get through a certain amount of meat in one night, otherwise they would have to throw it away and so the portions were more than necessary. When we said the beer we had wasn't the best IPA, the waiter said he doesn't think the beer choice is great (after we ordered, not before). A lot of potential, I would say also a lot of easy tweaks, but in its current form, the place disappointed us.
A brilliant place. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Staff were also very knowledge about the food and made excellent recommendations. We would definitely go back
Could not fault Temper, such a great night. All the waitstaff very friendly and their choice of food recommendations was spot on.
Great Food, Service and Ambience, highly recommend!
I was really looking forward to Temper for my Birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint. We were welcomed by our host who took us immediately to our table which was located close to the open counter where you can see the team of chefs at work.
Our waiter was really helpful recommending a few of his favorites - we started with some taco's - cheeseburger (epic!), Mullet (really zingy) and a tostada of Nduja and pineapple which was my fav!
We then mixed up smoked beef, lamb shoulder and goat - the goat was the best, something i haven't tried before but i will be a big advocate of this going forward.
We also had a pudding each - unfortunately i was given the wrong one but it was delicious nonetheless
one recommendation would be order some of the delicious green and chipotle sauce they have - both delicious.
Amazing staff - super helpful and friendly!
Great atmosphere, amazing soundtrack and everyone was in great spirits!
The food was incredible - can’t recommend Temper highly enough!
Delish food perfect before a show! Service is a little slow.
We stuck to the meat and side options, including smoked goat and beef which was well marinated and tender but not particularly smokey in flavour. The sides were different, with the pork burnt ends and Thai larb, which was my favourite discovery. Overall, good place to go, with many a group booking and dates going on. Careful not to get too warm sitting on the counter by the bbq!
Good food a bit fat-reliant and the age average and the noise was overwhelming
Considering this restaurant is on the Time Out Top 100 Restaurants I was expecting more.
I thought the meat was lacking in flavour and was nothing special.
the best thing about the meal was the cookie and ice cream dessert
Went for my partners birthday. Food and service was great. Would go again.
Temper has a really good atmosphere and the food is really good. The counter seats allow you to watch the chefs cooking which is really interesting.
Good food, good service, okay value. Would go again.
Overall we enjoyed the experience but given this is a bbq restaurant the worst part of the meal was the meat! The beef was more fat than meat, and the goat was very dry with not a lot of flavour. To be fair, the starters, sides and dessert were all good, but we felt let down by the main attraction.
Service was friendly but inattentive; things like the candle on our table wasn’t lit, no one checked in to see if the food was ok or we needed more drinks etc were missing, simple things, but they do make a subtle difference to the experience,
I’m glad we went so I can tick it offf my list, but I wouldn’t hurry back.
Memorable night to celebrate my wife's birthday. Faultless food and service. They even knocked off the desserts from the bill due to small confusion on them coming out, which we'd barely noticed. Great to sit at the counter and watch the theatre of the kitchen. Must visit again soon!
The food here is always delicious, find it hard to stray from regular items but everything on the menu sounds incredible. Very attentive service, and the open kitchen is great to admire. All the staff seem to enjoy themselves which is also good, and you feel that in the service.
The service was amazing. Average food. The lighting was bad the the seats were uncomfortable.
Food my amazing. The smoked goat was OMFG
Great food, with excellent attentive/thoughtful service.
On the plus side, Delicious food, nice decor, comfortable seating and reasonably priced. However service was slow and waiters not attentive, menus gave no explanation of the dish or it’s ingredients and the music was was loud dance music which ruined the ambience. For the food alone well worth a visit
We were told to order plates to share, the starters (tacos and toastados) are really small so I recommend to order at least 3. The cheeseburger taco was tasty but I wasn't keen on the mullet ceviche, it had a really overpowering fish taste like the fish sauce used in thai cooking.
The mains we had were nduja sausage flatbread and beef chilli and bone marrow. The nduja sausage was amazing, really tasty. The beef chilli and bone marrow was a large portion but too hot for me.
We also ordered 2 sides, the burrata and burnt end thai lard salad. The burrata was tiny for the price, but the burnt end thai salad was amazing and a generous portion considering it is only £4, highly recommend.
By this point we were stuffed. I wasn't keen on the ambience of the place, but I think that was because I arrived early at 6.15pm and they were still setting up. When they eventually turned the lights down and more people started to arrive it improved. If you are a table of 2 I would recommend sitting at the counter, I will do that next time.
Fantastic food and evening. Highly recommend food and experience
New venture for me, the food and the service were to die for. Menu is unusual but it's about meat. The actual meat is beautiful. It's also great watching the cooking going on. I did not give it five stars as the background music is a bit too loud
Went there for my bday and was really cool. Good vibe and selection of music. Fast service, although it could have been a bit more attentive. Tasty food
Great venue (not my first time), excellent food, and an interesting menu.
The noise was too much, and the bill punchy for even my decadent standards.
A birthday pre show meal for my daughter .
Food and service was great
This place is great! Overall ambience is amazing especially sitting on the bar!
Great food, meat fest!
Service just pure class!!
I found Temper to be a great restaurant with great food and wine list, yet I'm hesitate to give them full marks. Why? Two reasons: 1) the service was erratic and 2) the noise level is out of this world.
1) We found it weird that for a table for 7, there were 7 taps menus but only one tiny meat menu. Isn't it a BBQ place? For this reason there was a great confusion and misunderstandings about what to order initially.
2) The noise. Oh the noise. DO NOT go there in a group. It's like trying to talk in a club; it's impossible to have any meaningful conversations. On the other hand, it's a great place to go to with someone who you really don't want to talk with. It's that bad.
Just the best place to share good food with good friends xx
Can’t fault this place. Particularly recommend the smoked goat. Excellent sound track too
Fun atmosphere, friendly staff who knew when to be chatty and when to leave us to enjoy our food and catch up! Food is very meaty - ages cheeseburger tacos and smoked lamb shoulder were highlights. Quite good value but definitely not a cheap dinner!
Good was good but very expensive - £12 for 2 small goat tacos that were quite flavourless was not what I was expecting. Luckily the burnt end larb was so fantastic it compensated - could quite easily do 1 larb per person and then 1-2 other items to share and be perfectly content! I will be back for that dish and the burrata which was also fab. Service - did expect slightly better given it was quiet, but per other reviews is just a bit hit and miss. Worth overlooking to experience the concept and food
My girlfriend and I had a great evening at Temper, we were sat on the bar so could see all the cooking taking place on the fires which was awesome. The food was amazing and the service matched it - would reccomend to a friend.
Great place for Friday evening get together, sat at counter. Staff really helpful. Food was great cheeseburgers and cookie desert a must.
Very nice restaurant with perfect pieces of meat and lovely desserts. I can highly recommend this place.
