It was a Friday night and the music from the bar was blaring through to the restaurant. It was quite uncomfortable.
staff were friendly and welcoming. the food was fair, we had the set menu, one beer and a pineapple juice that came to £38. the two reasons for a 'fair's on the food was the sweet chilli sauce served with crackers and starters was thin and bland.also the sweet and sour chicken was a little uninspiring and the green curry although tasty was made of shredded chicken - odd.
Went with a couple of friends on Saturday night. The restaurant had been recommended to me by a friend. We all loved the food, satay chicken, 2 sorts of curries, king prawns were fantastic. I was very impressed. The only problem was the noise from the next door disco/function, it was loud thumping music, not what we had in mind. However, the food more than made up for it and I am looking forward to my next visit to Thai Silk
There was a party in adjoining room, the noise kept bleeding into dining area. To use bathroom (which needs a refurb) meant walking through party. Food was not great, some parts over / under cooked and just warm, others parts of meal inconsistent with amount of chilli used would expect same dishes to be the same, curry more like paste before coconut added. Maybe I set my expectations too high and catering for the party impacted on dining area. Service was ok, atmosphere in dining area dead which made the bursts of loud music and party noise worse.
Normally the restaurant is quiet. It is now running a buffet service. The restaurant was full and there was not enough staff to serve us. Service was very poor we had to get up to attract the attention of staff for service for the entire time we were there.
I've enjoyed eating at Thai Silk occasionally over the last decade. The traditional Thai dishes are cooked to order and are very good indeed; they typically cost £7 - £15 each for the main course.
The restaurant has also recently introduced a buffet - this more closely resembles a lower price Chinese style buffet menu. If that's what you want, it should be fine. But I'd recommend the traditional Thai dishes ordered fresh from the a la carte menu - as they are fabulous.
I've been to this restaurant on many occasions and have had a lovely experience...but last Thursday it was awful. They have changed the format to buffet so not only the choice is limited but it's not freshly cooked. Service was very bad even though the restaurant was empty. ...Will not be going back. Thai Silk you also need to update your website so your customers are aware when they make a booking
The service was good and the food was lovely. Will definitely return.
We were there for 5 hours talking away and not pressured by staff to pay or move on despite having finished our meals. We chose set menus and there was plenty of food, definitely not skimped. This is a good restaurant in the summer with some al fresco dining available.
Went with a few friends. Lovely atmosphere, great food and at a good price.
We were soo full, everything tasted great. Will definitely go back again.
This little gem is next to Southwark underground but tucked around the corner. The food was delicious and staff very attentive. We will return
Unpleasant. Shabby restaurant. Cheapest sweet chilli sauce I’ve ever encountered - and provided for all starters so too sweet. Pad Thai soggy and saturated in cheap sweet chilli sauce. Servers unbothered. Never again!
Great location, Great service, great food. Will be back.
A colleague over from overseas, nice to unwind and catch up.
Yummy Thai food. Cannot wait to go back. Not too busy and a chilled atmosphere. The waiters were very attentive and filled tap water without asking. Food came out super fast
We are Thais. So, we're looking for Thai restaurant and taste their foods during we visit London.
The food is accepted but the taste is not the same as original Thai food.
Amazing honestly. Couldn't have asked for a better night
Really enjoyable early evening meal. Food was lovely and service was impeccable. Highly recommend.
Nice location and friendly staff. Pleasant outdoor area and tasty set meal which was good value. Only niggle was they took a card as a security and didn't have a way of showing it was safe. Always makes me nervous when this happens as most businesses have a way of securing the card. No evidence of any problem but feedback.
Staff are very friendly and provides a first class service. Food was very delicious and look forward to going back and trying a different dish. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food i received. Drinks are available in the restaurant or in the bar and are not overly expensive.
Booked for Theatre and wanted to eat before hand. The food and ambience were superb and the service was very attentive without being intrusive. I have already recommended to friends who were asking how we enjoyed the theatre. In fact we enjoyed the meal more than the show.
The food was lovely, and very authentic. As a coeliac it is really important to have confidence in what I'm eating. They have gluten free soy sauce which is great. The modified all our feed so I could eat it. The only difficulty was that they put sticky labels on the gluten-free food to say it contained gluten!! When I asked why it was because they said it was the only labels they had. They reassured me everything was okay and all the food was in fact gluten free. And it was, so if you're a coeliac, don't be put off, just confirm with the team.
Excellent food and friendly staff but meal dominated by inadequate sound proofing of the separate Thai Silk Bar where very penetrating music was being played.
I attended here after a recommendation by one of my group. I was celebrating my 50th and had a great time. The cocktails were delicious as was the 5 course set meal. The selection was good and the portions of a great size. Would definitely go again.
I have been here a few times and have always come away very pleased with the experience. The staff are very friendly and the food exceptional. Looking forward to the next time
Amazing food, excellent value, GREAT SERVICE! Looking forward to a return visit!
Nice little joint with tasty cooked food at a reasonable price.
