The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived for our meal but our table for 4 wasn’t ready apparently due to a technical issue with the booking. When ordering our drinks we were told if we were having a roast dinner we were entitled to a free bottle of wine but staff had no idea if this was per person, per couple or per table and it got a bit embarrassing for everyone. We all ordered roasts only to be told that 2 of the 4 options were sold out. When the beef arrived it was very tough and very little of it. There was a tiny portion of veg and a couple of roast potatoes all covered by a massive yourjshire pud, hardly good value for money at £20 per head. Similar story with the puddings insofar as few options available which we weren’t told about until after we had asked for them 🤦‍♀️. However….we made our comments known to our young server Dylan (who was absolutely fantastic and one of the most personable and capable 16 year olds I’ve ever had the privilege to meet) and he promptly and without a fuss arranged for Tina (owner)to come out to our table and talk things through. Tina was genuinely apologetic and took our feedback very seriously, serving us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and a selection of chocolate bakes to make up for our disappointment with the meal. Did it help? Not sure. Would we go back? Not in the foreseeable future when we’ve got such a great selection of eateries locally but never say never.

First visit to this lovely restaurant over the weekend. Food was lovely and would totally recommend. Slightly let down by service. Could approve on attention to detail. Overall would visit again.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Plenty of veg and meat. Lovely presentation. Excellent value with the free bottle of wine. Loved it.

Good food and atmosphere. Sadly pretty terrible service. Had to ask for cutlery and also get someone’s attention for condiments. Had to approach the server for the bill where a 10% service charge was added. No issue with that ordinarily however service was poor and it was a quiet afternoon.

I love eating at the Woodcote; the food is always exceptional, with friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is an independent business rather than a chain, so it has its own unique charm. There is a delightful beer garden at the back, where dogs are welcome. Thanks to everyone at the Woodcote for another lovely night out.

Lovely local little restaurant. Service was a little slow but food was excellent and well worth the wait. Staff were all very professional and friendly. We will certainly be back again soon

The Sunday lunches that we had were delicious. My wife had the lamb and I had the stuffed pork belly. The staff and service was also very good. We will certainly be making a return visit.
