Great experience for post walk lunch - good food and service plus table booked and ready. Will definitely be back.
Excellent and very enjoyable lunch time. Thank you.
A lovely peaceful atmospheric place. Gentle background music, lovely food and very good service. I would highly recommend the Admiral Rodney.
Very safe in covid terms. Good food and beer served in a very amiable manner
Bearing in mind this was at the start of reopening the dining experience was excellent. Food was well presented and very tasty.Highly recommended.
Overall the experience was Good although some elements of the evening were disappointing. The starters lovely, Steak was cooked very well and had a lovely aged/char-grilled flavor however I felt visually a bit of greenery like a handful of watercress would of made the plate look more appetizing as the plate just looked very beige. I had the chicken pie which was delicious. My teenage children both ordered pizza which was disappointing. The base was doughy and not cooked enough. Overall thought the staff were friendly although not terribly attentive. Our empty plates were left on the table for a good half an hour prior to us finishing although I could see the staff chatting around the bar.
We had a lovely evening meal at the Admiral Rodney, scrummy chicken pie and a very good rump steak. I had too much bread with my soup, so I couldn’t manage a pud. Gutted! It was blissfully quiet, can sometimes be a bit noisy next to the bar, but it was Christmassy and blissful, great service. Thanks to the team for a lovely evening.
Very friendly welcoming staff, nice breakfast on both days, will return when next in the area
Excellent meal pre lockdown number 2. Would recommend the pies. Puddings were excellent too. Staff friendly and lovely atmosphere
Good food, relaxed, safe atmosphere and well priced. Good selection of local beers too. Will definitely book again when lockdown over.
Food was lovely. Service efficient. Will definitely go back
We started the evening with drinks and as with previous visits the Wye valley h .p.a was excellent. We were shown to our table which was well distanced from others and made our order. Staters consisting of Vegetable spring rolls with dipping sauce and Fish cakes were both tasty and presented well. The main courses followed with two dishes of Butternut squash in puff pasty on a bed of parsnip puree with tender stem broccoli and Cod fillet served with pomme boulangere , sauteed gem lettuce and grapes , both were again well presented and very tasty. We rounded off with two chocolate and orange cheesecake with orange sorbet and Creme brulee with raspberry sorbet. Portions are a sensible size, so i would suggest three courses. All together it was a very enjoyable evening with prompt but relaxed service in a safe environment .
Tasty food, with reasonable amount of choice despite COViD with good options for kids.
Lovely food under difficult circumstances. All credit to the staff here for persevering and serving great meals. We came back for more two days later :)
Great food and great atmosphere.
A very last minute booking for us, never been to the Admiral Rodney before, Would highly recommend, the rooms are beautifully finished to a high standard, very good size and spotlessly clean.
The food is superb, I would give an 11/10 if I could. Great local produce cooked to some of the best standards I have ever seen and had the pleasure of tasting.
We will certainly be coming back and recommending to family and friends.
Had fish and chips - very greasy note able to eat batter
Chips were lovely though.
Chocolate and orange cheesecake very artificial tasting, base greasy and cheesecake too stodgy.
Apple crumble, tasted as though it had been heated too long in a microwave as very hot, crumble soggy. Custard that came with it was watery.
Staff were very efficient and helpful
Good service covid regs good, food enjoyable good selection of beers, would dine here again, decor simple but well done, party of four and we all enjoyed the experience
Wonderful food, what a great chef and staff lovely. Thank you. Ally and Pete x
The Staff were great waitress very good bar staff very good, main Cod very bland small piece of fish potato was well over cooked may have been from the day before, sorry but for £17 I was not impressed this time.
Good quality food at a reasonable price. Good selection of drinks. Nice ambiance.
Visited for lunch on Saturday for four. Menu was great and gluten free menu also available for one of our party. Also welcomed the dog which was a real bonus. Food arrived within good time and everyone really enjoyed their choice. Desert was also really yummy!
Walking into the pub first impressions very bland our table was just by the bar not very good with social distancing, the food was average roast potatoes were undercooked, the beef was flavourless and the gravy was very peppery. We weren’t table checked so we paid our bill and left.
Food was faultless, service was great, pub was warm and cosy and the room was lovley. We will definatley be back!
Couldn’t fault them - flawless service outstanding food and just a superb atmosphere. We really had a fantastic evening - thank you!
Excellent food that’s extremely well presented. All staff we came in contact with throughout our stay were very efficient, knowledgeable, helpful, and always had a smile. Can’t praise the food, staff, or venue enough.
An absolute taste sensation. We stayed overnight with our daughter and booked a table in the restaurant. Everything we ate was sublime. The staff were really friendly, the pub had a really good vibe. It was an outstanding dining experience. We will be back.
Absolutely superb as with the previous experience. We came here for my husband's 40th - so glad I chose this place! The food was cooked to perfection (I loved my pie - a proper pie too; not just a lid - and very high quality veg (tenderstem broccoli)). My brother-in-law had the duck confit with chorizo, which was also outstanding. My only regret is that I could not manage both!
A choice wine list and great ale. My whole table really enjoyed the meal and the service was exceptional, as before. Super-friendly, genuine and cosy vibe - we really could not have asked for more. Thank you!
Service and food were really very good. Very generous children’s portions. Covid secure approach maintained. Will definitely return.
Great food, friendly endly staff and good covid precautions in place
Great atmosphere even with Covid restrictions, food was excellent and a very enjoyable evening had by our table of 6.
We had a lovely meal . Food was really tasty . Tables were nicely spread out . Service was good & staff very friendly . Good value .
Delicious food, very fresh and interesting menu. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Booked dinner on a Monday not many places serve food Monday evening. Felt very Covid secure excellent service from staff.
We stayed at the Admiral Rodney and dined there. It was superb. Safe, secure and friendly. Food was lovely and alongside the Baiting House equally good. Staff were excellent - will definitely return!
Really good “Covid - safe” experience..fantastic food and good portions. Very friendly service and really beautiful pub..a little jewel-like oasis in the Herefordshire countryside
A quiet Friday lunch during strange Covid times. Steak and chips was very good, beer was great and well-kept. Efficient, friendly service. A very nice pub in a lovely location.
Fantastic as always. The food was just perfect - ham hock terrine with ceaser salad. Baked cod with boulongerie potatoes & panda cotta with autumn fruits. Lovely staff. Covid standards all excellent. Love it
We didn't have starters but we had lamb roast and a trout main courses, nicely presented and good size portions. We shared a cheese and biscuits which was also very good. With 2 pints of beer each, we thought that it was good value and it was service with a smile.
Brilliant experience. Lovely lunch staff very attentive.
