Recently we've experienced allotment eatery for a dinner.
Actuall food was a bit tasteless and not really good portions for a price. I highly not recommend fish and chips as it's 15£ for really poor dish.
Also the bread which been added to soup was added to soup which in fact we order extra, was highly criticised by us at place and bassicly we just had tried and it's still been added to final bill.
If you don't want to disappoint yourself just try something else.
And we wanted to cancel booking hours before actuall time, but they've told us there will be a charge 10£ per person for not attending.
Nice visit post-lockdown - good food, good drinks, at reasonable prices. And very friendly/helpful service!
Food was very tasty - I could not believe it was all vegan and gluten free! The ‘fish and chips’ were incredible as were the jackfruit tacos but the hazelnut slice for dessert with vegan ice cream was unreal!
We used the eat out to help out scheme so received £20 off the bill which was great value for money but even at full price I would have been very happy.
Service was ok - everyone was friendly enough but could have been more attentive, ie had to ask for drinks menu 10 mins after we sat down, had to find someone to actually pay 10 mins after the bill arrived while our waiter was chatting to other staff. Not the end of the world but didn’t match the high food quality.
Will definitely be back!
Great to be back at The Allotment. Absolutely delicious food - the cauliflower bites were a real treat as was the tofu laksa. Shame there wasn’t a spare cheesecake but I’ll look forward to that next time. Relaxed and spacious with plenty of sanitiser and staff who made us feel at ease. We’ll definitely be back soon.
Fantastic vegan food, reasonably priced. Feels very fancy. Food is delicous and surroundings also very nice. Drinks quite expensive (£5 for tea??)
A delicious three course meal with the most amazing desserts.
was quiet which was good during the current covid climate, food was actually AMAZING, i can’t wait to try more stuff on the menu, there’s such a variety to to suit all tastes. also our server was soo lovely, friendly and really went out of her way to make sure we were having a good dining experience, she was the only one serving too when there were a few tables and she managed all of us amazingly. also the salt and pepper tofu was the best tofu i have EVER tasted i have been dreaming about it since as well as the banana blossom fish and chips - absolutely to die for 🥰🥰 hats off the chefs who are obviously very skilled. can’t wait to come back !!!! thanks, Amber & Tom
Loved this place. The fish and chips were delicious, aswell as the cinnamon prosecco.
Brilliant food, brilliant atmosphere. However, if you are not a fan of spicy food make sure you ask prior to ordering!
The food had no flavour, bland and presentation was very unappealing. Was looking forward to trying this restaurant and was very disappointed
Great service, outstanding food, value for money, would highly recommend.
Can’t wait to go back for more!!!
So enjoyed our whole experience at The Allotment! From the food, to the staff and everything.
We were very comfortable having a spacious area where we were seated. The food was fresh, well thought out, with a perfect balance of flavours, textures and taste. All totally delicious.
We chose the Buddha bowl, which was perfect, followed by the hazelnut slice with the balance of raspberries and vanilla homemade icecream was a definite winner! Not forgetting the yummy chunky chips! All the food was beautifully presented too.
Would highly recommend, and already looking forward to a return visit!
Nice food, ok service. Non of the service staff were wearing masks though. No draght beer only a can or a bottle which I can get at Tesco. The food was nice, well presented. The menu was full of good normal food but just wasnt to our taste. Nice for a bit of casual dining but nothing special.
Beautiful food will be returning in the future I think maybe more food for price and a better variety of choice on menu but it's was awesome food was divine. The lady I spoke to new her knowledge on the food etc was very nice the young man was also very friendly serving the food thankyou very much.
We visited The Allotment at the end of July. It was our second visit. The first time I took my wife for her 50th birthday as she had just become a vegan. I however enjoy vegan food but eat a pescatarian diet. I was somewhat reluctant to try again as I felt the food on our first visit had been very poor value for money with very small portions. On this occasion the menu looked different so we gave it a go. Both our main dishes were excellent. I would say it’s fine dining therefore portions are small for the price but that aside it was very tasty. We had fish and chips and ramen, vegan style. My wife’s starter however was very poorly priced £6.50 for a tomato salad in a tiny bowl the size of teacup! I had mushrooms which were lovely but the same price although we were able to get two starters as part of a deal which made it less painful!
The environment is lovely and chilled and the staff great. Overall it was good but value for money I would say poor portions are small and dishes over priced for essentially vegetables and tofu!
It was our first trip out for dinner since lockdown eased but we felt very safe here - tables are well spaced, hand sanitiser at the door, waiters are vigilant. The food was amazing! They do incredible things with all kinds of ingredients, some we'd never seen before. The banana blossom 'fish' and chips were fabulous! The Salt and Pepper Tofu very tasty and the Cauliflower Wings delicious. Everything is beautifully presented, especially the dessert - Chocolate Hazelnut Slice with ice cream - which had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate sauce across the plate - a lovely, thoughtful touch. We will be visiting again very soon!
Absolutely loved it, I’ve never been to an all vegan restaurant before and I loved not having to ask or feel like I was annoying staff members. The food was outstanding, stunning (and strong!) cocktails, lovely chilled atmosphere and great service. Already planning my next visit from Blackpool!
Service was spot on, friendly but not intrusive and happy to advise.
Our food was to a high standard, full of flavour and filling.
Been here on a number of occasions and have not been disappointed. I highly recommend the Jack Fruit Tacos.
Amazing food and service, absolutely loved it thankyou
Whether you’re vegan or not this is good food. We loved our first trip. We had the cauliflower wings, heritage salad, tacos, salt and pepper tofu laksa, cheesecake and hazelnut slice - oof! Yes forced it all down. Took home more of the hazelnut slice- had to spread the love.
Brilliant first experience at this restaurant. Lovely touch with a birthday message on our desert. Has a small but still very personal feel to it with social distancing in place.
Food was very filling and reasonably priced given the niche nature of the food.
Taste is 10/10 - highly recommend the cauliflower wings and 'fish' & chips!
Gorgeous food! I’m not vegan 🌱 but loved the variety and tastes
Me & My Partner Dan (who is visiting from Australia) tried out this restaurant after seeing good reviews online. I will start and say the front of house staff were absolutely brilliant the blonde haired boy and the girl who attended us were absolutely great.
We have been vegan since November but have tried lots of vegan restaurants in Sydney (Newtown Suburb) and I have tried some vegan places in Manchester before. The Allotment was not our taste. It lacked flavour - especially the tofu. It felt as though there was less spices and seasoning used and just more salt. I had the Taco’s which were to cinnamon and sweet. In Sydney I have tried these before at a Spanish vegan restaurant and they were amazing ‘Calle Rey’ for reference.
I did let the server with black hair and beard know that we didn’t like the food as it wasn’t our taste and he did apologise. I had eaten half of one taco which the shells were soft and the serving sizes were small. Not much other than an apology was given despite the expense of the meal which compared to my previous dining experiences was no where near worth paying for. I wouldn’t pay that anywhere else in the world for what it was. However like I said the staff were lovely. And I appreciate a vegan restaurant opening in the current climate. I was just very disappointed to the point I may actively discourage people from the restaurant due to our experience.
I'm really hooked on this place.. 1st visit was for my birthday back in March... 3 more visits since re-opening after lockdown.
Service... food... atmosphere... everything is in good balance and just right.
Last visit was with a new client... that's how highly rate this place
Main course fine. Both starters (Mushrooms and ‘Heritage’ tomatoes) were not value for money
We decided to go there for our 10 year anniversary celebration - first time out since the beginning of lockdown too! We had a fantastic evening, everything was just perfect! The food was AMAZING, rarely we've been out to dinner and found absolutely everything so delicious! It felt like a true fine dining experience, but with affordable prices, which is always good. The service was great too, very friendly staff and they never rushed us to leave even though we stayed a little past the closing time. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking to have a nice evening and who generally enjoys good food and a stylish but quiet ambience.
Great food. Great service. Great vibe. Will definitely return.
Booked four weeks ago, checked the menu two days before we went as we specifically booked for Sunday lunch. They don’t do this anymore whilst they don’t have a demand for it, would’ve been good to know! Tables were crammed together yet the place is huge? Food was OK, nothing out of this world which was such a shame as it sounded amazing. To be fair, we did get small plates, the ramen/curry may have been great. Jackfruit tacos were a let down, no flavour, just spicy. No fish and chips and no kombucha. Such a shame as we drove an hour to get here!
Food was good, jack fruit was excellent but the service level was poor.
Waited excessively for the wine to arrive and although we had indicated we wanted coffee at the end of the night, the waitress informed us late that the coffee machine had been switched off instead of asking us to confirm an order before she switched it off 🤷🏽
Staff were a little slow and not very attentive, however they were very pleasant and helpful when we did catch them. The food was very nice and we left with full bellies. The margarita that my girlfriend had was very watery and seemingly made with concentrated lemon juice, as opposed to fresh lime juice (however, this was off-menu). All other drinks were delicious.
This was our first meal out since lockdown, so we weren’t sure what to expect. Obviously it wasn’t crowded, as it had been spaced out, but enough people in to have a nice atmosphere. We were warmly greeted by staff who We’re attentive, helpful and friendly throughout. Food was delicious and we will be back at some point to try some different things.
The sharing platter was very small, should have been for one person. We ordered a dessert Manchester Tart, it arrived as short bread, no custard in sight and the portion was very poor. The food we received was delicious but not enough per portion.!
The service was hit and miss, we were seated quickly but our original server disappeared when he said he'd return to take our drinks order.
We were then served by two different people who were lovely.
The food was generally lovely, however we both agreed we didn't enjoy the best seller of the fish and chips which tastes extremely like fish- for a vegan restaurant not great.
The food is beautifully presented. The prices reflect a city centre setting but i'd be reluctant to visit again as I feel there are better city centre options available.
Very good “Fish and Chips” and desert. Would recommend
I've eaten at Allotment Vegan Eatery three or four times before, and each time has been fantastic, so I was really looking forward to coming back for my first meal out since lockdown.
The food is amazing, whether you're looking for something that is 'not meat' or just a delicious dish in it's own right there is something on the menu that will make you very happy.
The cauliflower chicken wings seem to get better each time I've been, and the fish and chips is possibly the best meat replacement dish i've ever had.
Service is always great, staff are lovely and seem very genuine which plays a part in giving the place a nice relaxing ambience.
Can not recommend this place enough, vegan or not, the food is amazing and it's got to be one of the best hidden gems in Manchester.
I couldn't fault a thing.. already booked for my next visit
The food was absolutely incredible. The cauliflower buffalo wings were just wow 😍 and the hazelnut slice tasted just like a ferrero rocher. Will absolutely be going back. Service was great, all the staff were really happy and lovely. Can't rate this place enough!
Really enjoyed our meal it was so lovely! We will definitely go again!
Excellent service. Food was generally very good but a bit mixed. I had tamarind tofu for starter and I thought it was really dull, my partner had roasted butternut squash which was very nice, we also had cauliflower popcorn which was good. My main of jackfruit tacos was lovely and spicy but I slightly preferred my partner’s ‘fish and chips’, the battered banana blossom really did taste like fish though the chips were a bit soggy. Recommended and very reasonably priced if a little room for improvement.
