Thoroughly enjoyed our three course meal and service was great. Will definatly be returning in the near future and recommending.
The food here was delicious. So lovely to eat such carefully thought out vegetarian (and vegan) food. The flavours were light and complimented each other well.
An lovely meal, helped convince my grandma that being a vegan is not terrible
Hi Monica, We're thrilled that you and your grandma had a lovely experience with us, and were glad we could help her see how awesome it can be eating vegan! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review :) We hope to see you again soon, Chloe
Having previously enjoyed dining at the initial Stockport Allotment, had tentative expectations for it’s relocation to Manchester. No worries, fundamentally the same. Difference is more seating space & opportunity for wider menu options, but they retain same excellent standard of taste & presentation with great service from staff who are willing to answer questions about ingredients & preparation. Hope to make many return visits. Thank you.
Thank you for leaving this lovely review, it's put a smile on our little teams faces knowing that we succeed in giving our diners a pleasant experience with us! We also hope to see you again soon :) Chloe- The Allotment
The food here is so delicious, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming, the staff are friendly and knowledgable. I couldn't reccomend the Allotment more, it is the best place for the tastiest vegan food in Manchester.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We're really glad you enjoyed your experience with us. As a small business, all feedback is greatly appreciated and helpful to us, its nice to know were doing things right! Thank you for making the team smile today, we hope to see you soon :) Kind Regards, Chloe- The Allotment
Really enjoyable experience. Staff friendly and knowledgable
The staff at The Allotment were friendly and knowledgeable about the food they were serving. We had the 10 course menu and enjoyed every bite.
Were so happy you enjoyed your evening with us! :) Thank you for leaving this lovely review. We look forward to seeing you again! Many Thanks, Chloe- The Allotment
Not vegan but tried it, not for me reslly
Beautiful food in a really nice environment. Staff were very friendly
Tasty, fresh food with good service. As a non-vegan I was impressed, would recommend the cauliflower hot wings and the courgette main. My friend had the chocolate fudge for dessert amd commented it might be the best vegan dessert she's ever had.
The food was all delicious. The staff were well-informed, friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. I loved the place and will definitely go again.
The food and drinks were amazing and the service was fantastic.
Excellent restaurant. Great food and service and lovely atmosphere.
Would definitely recommend the taster menu. We had the 5 course plus the cheeseboard, food was exceptional and the service matched
The flavours and the appearance of the food were just outstanding. As a non vegan I would recommend anyone to try The Allotment, it was amazing.
Absolutely wonderful place, amazing food and atmosphere very relaxed. A little expensive but perfect for a special occasion. So great to taste something new when trying to go plant-based.
Some food was lovely, eg soup, most mediocre. The courgette Hasselback was mush with a big courgette in and no texture contrast. Rice dish was mushy, no texture. Overall everything felt over cooked, no freshness, no zing. Burnt mouth on aubergine, not enough pepper sauce. The chease plate was not cheasy, more like a pate. Husband has made better cultured chease at home. No comparison to Tynechease. Service not good. Had to ask for things several times, couldn't seem to deliver 4 plates at once!, but staff lovely. Overall disappointed as we'd travelled from Leeds and have wanted to go for a long time.
We were very impressed by the images on The Allotment website; the food looked very exciting. We arrived for Sunday lunch and the grubby mat at the entrance and the weeds did not augur well.
We noted that the main course of the Sunday roast (whole roasted cauliflower) contained no additional protein beyond the small amount in the cauliflower. Similarly two of the main courses on the 'a la carte menu' contained minimum protein. I opted for the aubergine steak and chips but ordered a side dish of tofu in order to get some protein into the meal. This tofu was flabby and not well cooked. I asked two waitresses why the main courses contained so little protein; clearly management has not informed them about vegan needs and they do not understand the importance of protein. They both gave poor responses saying that "There will be protein in there somewhere" When I asked one of them to clarify that, she failed to respond to my request. My wife had the only 'a la carte' meal which appeared to contain adequate protein; a black eyed peas based meal which when it arrived looked extremely unappetising and contained very few peas. Moreover £13 for half an aubergine with a mushroom sauce, two sprigs of broccoli and some large delicious chips is very overpriced in our opinion. We went for dessert to the Vertigo cafe where the meals are half the price and delicious and the coffee and cakes are fantastic.
Vegan meals should be tasty, contain adequate protein, plenty of vegetables and they should look good. Customers should not have to order side dishes of tofu to top up the protein. Unfortunately The Allotment fell short in many regards.
We will not be going back and we feel the images on the website are very misleading.
The food was amazing. We did the 10 course tasting menu. Food was beautiful to look at, flavourful, well balanced and presented. The staff did an ad hoc wine flight to go with it, which worked brilliantly. The staff were knowledgable, attentive and cared about the experience and the ethos. A fantastic afternoon.
Amazing food can’t recommend more
Definitely worth trying. We are not even vegetarians but it was a delight to eat such a beautifully cooked and presented meal (and filling!) with each course explained to us. Having problems with dairy produce as I do and one or two other foods this place is both a safe haven and an excellent dining experience. Great wine list too, not a huge choice but what we had was superb.
We tried 11 dishes. Food tasty and staff very friendly but decor food presentation and toilets could have been better
A truly excellent meal - good flavours and textures, a delight for the taste buds (especially vegan taste bids). The environment is calm and service is with a smile.
The buffalo wings was exquisite and both parents are not vegan but fully enjoyed the entire meal and the service. Overall it is a great experience and will be visiting again.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Will be coming back!
My first visit to a vegan restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised, the three course set menu was delicious, would certainly go again.
Great to find such high quality vegan food in the centre of Manchester.
This was by far the best way for my husband and I to end our UK vacation. Everything was perfect from the food to the service! The sauce served with the aurbergine and chips was one one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life.
Good food with some interesting flavour pairings. Staff were friendly and explained all the dishes well but a little too laid back and unhurried and it was sometimes difficult to get their attention despite the restaurant not being busy. Tasty food, nice decor- would recommend, but leave your self plenty of time to enjoy it.
One of the best vegan food experiences I've had.
I was told from my wife to say that "even the tomatoes were good, and I generally don't like tomatoes".
Keep it up!
Food was awesome! Beautifully presented and very tasty! Would definitely recommend and go again
Nice atmosphere, friendly, knowledgable service. The food was excellent also. Decent starter and main portion sizes but dessert (one in particular) very small.
I would recommend and return
As a committed omnivore I was interested to see if I'd miss the usual main event of my meal choices...and honestly not one little bit. Went for the midweek special set menu and every course was sensational. The soup came with beige beigenets and a mushroom dipping sauce that I'd have kept eating for as long as it was put in front of me! Just give this place a go...
The 3rd dish on the 10 course tester menu needs changing in my view, it was lettuce on lettuce. (in comparison to the other dishes, it is easily the weakest)
The whole thing was amazing, maybe slightly pricey but the food was delicious.
We had the 5 course tasting menu and the food was fantastic, portion sizes were perfect and the glass of chardonnay spot on. Thanks. A great restaurant serving high quality food. Oh and also vegan.
Great starters but both our mains were just soggy, tasteless vegetables - aubergine steak was just undercooked aubergine and hasselback courgette was watery in a sickly coconut gloop with uncooked lumps of potato and Jerusalem artichoke. Side veg not just nicely crunchy but totally uncooked. Greasy fried potatoes. Not great and a big disappointment after the lovely cauliflower buffalo thingies and charred tofu. Loud and rubbishy pop music.
Really tasty gluten free vegan fine dining. Wish I lived a lot closer. Highly recommend.
We was warmly welcomed and even though we were early are table was ready. All the waiting staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We had the 10 course sample menu. The food was exceptional and very good value. I’m a flexitarian and my partner is vegan and we both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and experience. I would visit Manchester again just to go to this restaurant. I would highly recommend it.
Despite a few quirks with service (slow spacing between courses...) this was probably one of the best meals I had in a long time! Every course from starter to dessert and even sides, was creative, well executed, and delicious. I was visiting from London, and wish I could go back again!
Some of the best Vegan food I've ever had.
Service was fantastic.
