The Anchor Danbury
We have a lovely large garden with a fun children's play area, great for keeping the kids entertained while you catch up with friends and family over a relaxing drink or with some great food.
Four legged friends are welcome at the pub, please ask our friendly staff for confirmation on which areas can accommodate you as we do require that dogs are kept out of the main dinning areas. Please note reservations with a dog are necessary during busy periods, and can only be taken over the phone on 01245 222457 stating you have a dog.
We come to this pub a lot. The food is always of excellent quality and we are never disappointed. Looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you
Delicious food, especially the fish. You are spoiled for choice. The kids menu is good too, with lots of options.
The Anchor is a very attractive pub from the outside and pleasantly decorated inside.
The food and service were excellent, the Steak pie was probably the best I have ever had. All this at affordable prices.
We found the Anchor pub very pleasant, easy to find with good sign posts. Beautiful flowers in the front of the building. I had booked a table for 13.30but we turned up early and they said it was not a problem and got a table straight away. Food was quickly served and with a pleasant manner. Delicious choices of food on the special board as well as regulars.
went with vouchers that some of our friends kindly got us, ordered Plaice, chips veg
chips so soggy, half the Plaice was batter and the veg was so over cooked that i held up some broccoli and it slid down my hand, have heard really good reviews abut this place, but sadly not this time
Beautiful little pub, amazing food, great value! Would highly recommend!
Lovely pub, friendly staff, excellent choice of food including plenty for Veg/Vegan. Lovely ambience, Good facilities to eat outside, play area/garden. Food was lovely and hot, some starters/mains were better value than others but you don't know until you order a variety of meals.
Definitely go again.
The young lady with glasses (sorry I didn't catch her name needs to change her attitude to customers and learn how to smile) overall a really nice pub
Food was really good, shame they forgot both of the salads to go with our Scampi & never did arrive!!!
Unfortunately the waitress knocked one of the drinks over which went over my wife's trousers but apart from asking if we wanted to move, no real apology or did she need a cloth to dry them.
Lovely pub with excellent garden facilities.
Friendly staff and lovely food
I always enjoy visiting the Anchor pub. We sat in the garden room and both enjoyed fish from the extensive specials menu. It is really great to have so much choice in a local pub. Cant wait for my next visit.
We had an excelkent meal. A great welcome as soon as we entered. Superb service. Would recomend to all. Nee to book ahead as very busy.
Lovely little pub in Danbury. Food was lovely and service was great considering how busy it was due to Father's Day. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again soon.
I went to this pub about 2 years ago and was impressed then so the wife and I decided to have a ride out and we were not disappointed.
The ambience was good and the food good with good portions.
I would recommend this pub (restaurant).
Booked for 5.00pm on a Friday and received a very warm welcome from all the team. Had a choice of tables and we were extremely impressed with the service and quality of food. Each course was cooked and presented to perfection. Not rushed through each course which was a bonus as the four of us had a lot of gossip to catch up with!! We have used the Anchor on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
Nice and clean, food very nice, Didn’t appreciate having to leave after finishing our meal , staff hovering around, felt uncomfortable so left
Meat and veg was lovely didn’t like potatoes and all the rosemary and thyme on them derive was slow
Very nice location and great service from all the staff
very friendly service, varied choice of food and nice ambiance
Haven't been to the Anchor for a while. But as always very good food & service. The New Built Conservatory is very nice . However lack of air con on a very hot day a little disappointing.
Good food, served promptly with a smile and would recommend to a friend
The food was excellent and the service was very good even though the pub was packed. Have already recommended it to friends👍
Lovely venue, traditional and such a beautiful setting. The pub staff were polite and friendly. Food was spot on, good size portions. Recommend the fish cakes, they were amazing! Looking forward to my next visit
Lovely place both inside and out. Nice food at reasonable prices. Plenty to choose from.
Excellent menu of high quality food. Could do with a couple of old favourites for pudding ie Apple Pie or Jam Sponge as well as the more modern choices. Generous portions of high quality.
Lovely food and enjoyed the updated conservatory area. The only downside was the proximity of the very loud coffee machine to our table
This was our first time at The Anchor and it certainly wont be our last! So many choices and they all looked delicious. Portion size was very good too!
Pleasant country pub, lovely serving staff , good service. Excellent menu choice, large helpings, food very good. We will return but would want to sit in the pub section not in the extension which had a different atmosphere and noise level higher there.
Excellent menu. On line menu does not demonstrate the large choice of specials on offer, so not promoting it's best. Efficient staff. Obliging when asked for a small portion for elderly person, chef reduced size and. Enjoyable lunch.
Hi, I came to meet members of The Lotus Club. I know they pick good country/village pubs and this one was exceptional, food outstanding and the staff matched this comment, the waitresses as well as the manager. I liked the way, even though my first visit with my wife not once was I asked for money just running an unspoken 'tab' which was run to exception. The manager's attitude was perfect, couldn't fault the place apart from getting slightly lost on the last 2 miles or so, maybe a link to a map and written detailed instructions on it would help even if only by email after the first visit as certainly I came home a slightly different route to my journey there where I ended up on a single lane country lane, I took one turning left a bit too early. I still found the pub without stress, just lucky I met no traffic coming the other way, but the pub and staff itself......EXCEPTIONAL! Mike Cooper.
Nice place, nice staff but I thought it was somewhat overpriced. We had mixed roasts and there were just 3 average slices of meat, veg with little taste and frozen yorkshires. One of our party had sausage and chips and that was £10.95. Disappointing - need I say more?
Food excellent, if a little on the pricey side. Staff, a little surly and non-friendly, but efficient.
Sweet menu boring, unchanged for years. I have to have coffee, because there is nothing (as a diabetic) I can eat -exvept cheese.
We go very regularly and have a loyalty card, but I am unsure what the card offers!
I have often recommended The Anchor, but can't afford to go too often. Two adults meals and two children's meals, three sweets and five small drinks = £72.00!
Great Sunday lunch with friends new to the area. Good friendly service, tasty food served on time. Couldnt fault the experience. Will be going again soon.
A vast variety of specials and menu for a lunchtime.
Very pleased with our choice of restaurant. A good range of choices means we will be back soon
Good food very atmospheric old surroundings, staff attentive and polite.
Nice venue, staff friendly just not enough of them, very slow and unorganised, food over rated and was sadly not what I expected.
The king prawn curry was awesome. As were all the other meals. We all - 4 of us - had a starter and main course. Fresh produce, well cooked, presented and served. Have been before on a number of occasions and will be going back. 5 stars from us!!
Great food as ever really enjoyed the paninis. Have had several meals now here and always really impressed with quality and value for money.
Beautiful flowers all around the outside of this restaurant. Staff welcoming, efficient and attentive. Food is always first class and piping hot. Pleasant way to spend an evening.
