You'll find us nestled snugly right on Seatown Beach, hidden along one of the many coves that litter Dorset's famous Jurassic coastline. Once a smugglers haunt, the pub now serves a seasonal menu with a focus on seafood; our Basque head chef Borja Berganza often adds a Spanish twist to the dishes flavours.

Complete with wood fires and Palmers award winning ales, the pub is the perfect location to refuel after a day on the coastal path or for a special evening meal with friends or family.

Great meal but tables so close you can hear the other people's conversations which we really didn't want to. A bit too close for our comfort but lovely pub, fabulous location overlooking thesea, nice staff and great fish and chips with fabulous beer batter.

Excellent service and food good although the main course menu was somewhat limited. The garlic prawn and croquettes starters were amazing and the fish mains were excellent as well. I would highly recommend.

Such good service - really thoughtful waiting staff who brought us in from the rain. Oh and the food... WOW - I had the lentil Wellington that was utterly delicious and the others all had the slow roast belly of pork which they all agreed was the best they had Ever had. Portions were generous and although I was full I would have eaten it all again and need a hoist to get me out! Always an excellent meal at The Anchor Inn, but this one was the Best 😊👌

We were delighted with our trip to the Anchor for lunch - on a Monday in January, with 2 vegans in our party, so it was a tall order! The staff were very friendly and our booked table was in a good spot. The ambience was warm and the traditional decor of the pub was cosy and very welcoming without being over designed. There was a good choice of dishes for non-vegans and we understood that a couple of the dishes could be adapted for vegans. The vegans were particularly pleased with their choices. If there was any criticism, it was that our fish dishes were a bit overcooked; something the rest compensated for.

The food was excellent. We both had the barley risotto and my compliments to the chef, a real attention to detail. My only recommendation would be to think about the music. It felt really out of keeping with the atmosphere I think you were trying to create. (piped radio). How about some simple classical music ?

Love this place. Perfect location. But in wet weather the car park is like a mud bath. Our car was stuck at one point, wheels going round and round. Got out though. Staff were absolutely brilliant, food stunning. It was very busy inside and out and they all kept calm and polite. Can't recommend enough

Visited the Anchor Inn on New Years Day 2022. Obviously this is one of the busiest days of the year for the restaurant, but it was announced to our table of 4 as we sat down for our 12:45 booking that we had to be finished by 14:15, as there was another booking at that time. I appreciate that 2020 and 2021 has been tough for the hospitality industry but there really isn’t any excuse to offer 3 courses and then to put a 90 minute time limit on 4 people in order to cram in as many covers as possible. Basically this meant the whole meal felt rushed and we ended up only having a main course. We were barely finished by 14:15 and then were informed by our server that the next booking had arrived and we needed to leave. Had we had 3 courses I think we would have gone about an hour over our allotted time. The restaurant should raise it’s prices (which are fine) a little so imposing the time pressures onto their customers isn’t necessary. It is in a unique location so it would seem reasonable to be able to charge more, especially as there were whole tables of diners sitting outside eating too. The food quality ranges from very good to above average, so it is a shame that we have had such as negative experience. But because of the unnecessary time pressures we will not be returning.

The fish stew was amazing. Definitely go for that. The fish and chips disappointing. Chips were over cooked but the fish was good. We booked the table with a 2.5hr turn around however the “new” booking system didn’t work so they over booked and our table was for 90mins. We were understanding and moved to another room for coffee- we didn’t bother with dessert as the table was a bit small! Apart from this the staff were excellent and it’s really dog friendly.
