Always amazing food and service. Lovely being in the marquee made it feel very Christmassy. Cannot wait to go back again soon!
We had a lovely evening here , food was amazing and service was very good too would highly recommend.
Amazing dining experience on Christmas Eve in the orangery - the setting is stunning, food is delicious and service is good. Family friendly without compromise on food and setting. Will be returning without doubt.
Front of house service was brilliant, waitress was rude and hovered over us all meal, and when speaking to us felt she was again very rude.
It is much nicer eating in the building than in the orangery. We came for a Sunday roast previously and it was great but food on the normal menu was mediocre
Great family atmosphere on Christmas Eve. Had a lovely lunch, even the heavy rain outside could not dampen the day
Lovely food and beautiful decor. Had a lovely relaxing night would definitely visit again .
We had a lovely meal and the service was excellent. Can’t fault this restaurant at all especially considering these COVID times!
Well organised and accommodating - lovely food and good service - love the new Orangery
Even though they were battling with the Gas for the kitchen, the service was brilliant. We were kept updated constantly and the food was very good.
The best Sunday lunch for miles cannot wait to come back with family and friends.
Very nice Sunday lunch. Roast beef as it should be somewhat rare. No annoying Muzac that we noticed thankfully.
Can thoroughly recommend The Anchor as a place to eat. Helpful staff and delicious food - lovely :)
Had a fabulous evening in the orangery with the family .. the whole atmosphere was lovely and the food was really good ..
The service was attentive and efficient and our waitress was really friendly ..
Couldn’t fault our evening .
Very disappointing visit. Our family of 4 were shunted into the Orangery for dinner. While it looks nice and pretty, it’s noisy ( rain pelting down on the glass roof), and floor is raised so you feel movement every time someone walks past.
Complete disregard for covid risk here, with birthday parties spread across a number of adjacent tables and people mixing, and kids running around.
Food is acceptable but portions small and extremely poor value. The turkey roast dinner had virtually no veggies with it - one carrot and that was it. When we asked for the sprouts, we were handed a cup of raw sliced sprouts. Kids meals were very overpriced at £8 each, and didn’t include drink or dessert, and again, portions tiny.
Desserts were poor. One scoop of ice cream was just that, small scoop with not even a wafer with it. Sticky toffee pudding tasted of something completely different, possibly a bit of chocolate.
Overall a pretty poor experience and we won’t waste our time or money returning here.
I was surprised to hear you didn't enjoy the Orangery that we have installed to try and combat the difficult Covid environment, maybe the spirit of this was misunderstood by your group. We DO NOT allow mixed groups and our policy is to not allow any guests to leave their tables whilst dining unless to use the toilet facilities. If you read through our reviews we are praised for the effort and hard work we have put into ensuring the safety of our staff, guests and the local community.
Lovely food, great service too. After our meal we were advised the table was needed but we could continue with our evening with soft drinks at the lounge afterwards. Only negative was that there wasn’t any lighting in their car park. Highly recommend though 👌🏻
We are in the orangery, which was absolutely magical!! It's a shame the food didn't match. I ordered the salmon with noodles £18 or £19. The salmon was a small piece that you would buy from a supermarket for £1.50 and was cooked in tinfoil in the oven and tasted like it. very small amount of noodles - very underwhelming for the price. No garlic mash with the mushroom and blue cheese pie. What, run out of potatoes???? Pear and frangipan tart was dry and tasteless. A real shame as it's a lovely location.
Really lovely!!! Great food and surroundings!!!!!!
Not keen on the wooden benches. Limited vegetarian or vegan menu options
Nice food & great atmosphere would highly recommend
The outside table we booked with three small children it was quite cold, not enough heaters, the service was pretty poor we had keep waving someone over for every course then for the bill. I can’t believe we also had to pay £13 for 6 children’s lemonades not very good value for money. My burger also didn’t really have any flavour. And the children’s chicken goujons were over cooked.
Lovely pub by the river! Working hard to provide comfortable indoor and outdoor dining in a COVID safe environment! Well done
Food was delicious and the stuff were very friendly. Love in there.
Great service, Great food, Lovely seating area, It felt a very safe environment. Very happy and will definitely go back, thank you.
It was all really lovely - staff, setting, and food. A very great evening.
Good, but as communicated to the manageress, I think the pheasant burger constituents need a re-think to include gravy and white sauce. My wife was very complimentary about the pizza.
Great service, great food and a lovely atmosphere.
Great meal as always snd friendly staff. Will come back and recommend to friends and family
Very nice new eating area. Like a large conservatory.
Food very good.
Chtistmas music a little too loud.
Bah humbug.
Beautiful food and place, reasonably priced. The new orangery is well heated and very pretty.
The Anchor is always good and this visit didn’t disappoint.
This time sat in the Orangery which has been beautifully decorated and was warm even on a winter afternoon.
Just be aware that you need to go outside to get to the toilets in the main building.
Wonderful setting in the Orangerie, however 2 choices on menu weren’t available and we had a fairly early dinner booking. Staff lovely as slways
Amazing staff who were absolutely run off there feet .....fantastic food and just an all round great place to eat!
What a lovely evening and felt extremely safe and well cared for. Staff were all really pleasant and were working really hard to ensure all guidelines were being met, we will be back very soon.
Food was lovely!! Service was second to none, and there was a lovely atmosphere to the restaurant!
The Anchor was beautiful and the Orangery Room was so stunning! Food was amazing as was the service
All round very good, setting was great and the covid guidelines were kept too.
Beautiful outdoor glasshouse seating area. Our food took an hour to come. When it did, it was lacking in flavour and the macorni cheese was watery, not cheesy. Hope the menu gets back to the standard it was as staff and setting are lovely.
Lovely atmosphere in the Orangery and nice and warm plus a lot of effort has been put in to make it Covid safe. Staff very attentive in every way throughout our meal. The menu was excellent and covered all possible options of meat fish and veggie with plenty of options in each area which is so good to see. So often a menu contains a token veggie dish which hasn’t had much thought put in. Overall a great evening out, well done keep it up!!
The pub has been nicely refurbished but the food was at best ordinary. My pork was poor. The base of cannelloni bean cassoulet was ghastly, sitting in a bland white sauce that someone had stirred marmite into (or so it seemed). My partner had a burger which was alright but it’s difficult to get a burger wrong. Overall impression: not able to produce food in keeping with its pretensions. Reluctant to return.
