Lovely refurbishment. Made to feel very safe and welcome. Could of eaten anything on the menu as all sounded delicious but we opted for the sharing roast platter and it was amazing value. Small point - you need to give more napkins or a finger bowl with the chicken wings. Very messy.

Lovely pub have visited before COVID.
Really good service. Lovely food.
My only disappointment was still doing temp checks and still have to remove drinks and food from trays. I don’t mind the masks but really the rest of it so tedious. Really need to move on from these rules.

Absolutely beautiful meal. We sat outside in the sunshine - by the river but not on the grass. The food was amazing, the staff were so lovely, helpful & welcoming and the overall experience was just perfect.

Enjoyable meal out, unfortunately reduced menu due to 2 chef's being pinged due to Covid proximity. Service was streamlined, food was fast. The team was also very accommodating due to booking error by a friend.

First time visiting and can’t wait to go back! The food was great and I would recommend saving room for a dessert, we had Biscoff cheesecake and it was lovely!

Great ambience and location and the staff were spot on, all friendly and polite.

Cleanliness 10/10 - they were on it when we checked in with temperature checking & sanitiser, tables cleaned thoroughly and even swept underneath. Spotless... and this was outside!!

Lovely setting by the river. Food was good although limited menu due to staff shortages. Mains were priced well but desserts slightly overpriced. Friendly service. Would definitely return after paddleboarding next time.

Such a fantastic meal and wonderful service despite reduced kitchen staff, you would never have known. Such great value and beautiful setting. All staff coped so well with many people/demands and hot weather. Can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful all round experience and a beautiful location.
The Anchor Inn is located along side the river stour.
We arrived at 12.00 and were able to park directly opposite in the shade although the main car park is only a few yards away along the road.
As we approached the main entrance we were greated by two young ladies who checked our temperatures and we were then taken to our table.
The waiter staff were all very friendly and attentive and we had our drinks served very quickly. Our food arrived a short time later and was well presented.
We had dessert and coffee and ginger tea afterwards.
During our visit we never felt rushed and were able to enjoy the ambiance.
Many of the other guests arrived by canoe or kayak which added to the experience of this unique location.
No complaints at all regarding the food or service we received.
After our visit we crossed the road and walked along the river.
A perfect day and a wonderful dinning experience.
Pods are available although I would imagine better for the evening.
We will certainly be visiting again soon

A bit disappointed - it's very hard to get into as always booked up, the setting is lovely so when we managed a booking I was really excited but the food wasn't amazing, the roast was nice but gravy was tasteless. I also think value is poor - over £8 for cocktail that just tasted super sweet and £3.50 extra if you want Mac&cheese with your roast (I mean usually it just comes with!) On top of the £17. I wouldn't mind paying that if it was exceptional but it just wasn't. The service was good, they were attentive but the restaurant could improve, for example give people drinks menus when they sit down and don't just ask what they want, I'm really into gin I don't want 2 or 3 listed out for me.
Also I would treat everyone the same whattever they look like /give them good seats if there are some available - at the end of the day we all eat and drink the same.
To be honest, if you want a great pub lunch after a lovely county walk there are many other great pubs that you can probably get into easier too.

Menu for hot mains was limited. Bread & oil nibbles came after the mains. But the pub has a nice atmosphere and the staff are all helpful and pleasant. I have had better battered fish and chips at lower price. But they have spent a lot on their outside space to increase covers during covid.

Main courses were lacking in taste and over priced. If I had cooked these meals I would have been dissatisfied with the result.
the description in the menu was an exaggeration of the reality.

As always we enjoy the food and surroundings at the Anchor. The food is always excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly, we have never felt let down. We understand that confidence must be restored into eating out and customers must be confident the Anchor follows the protocols it has in place. we have always been impressed with the service delivery in a very controlled and compliant manner. Well done to the Anchor and its excellent staff.
