We had a lovely dinner here! The food and drinks were well-thought out and better prepared. The background music was perfect for the setting. I was particularly impressed with the owner who seemed to interact personally with all of the customers, was very friendly, but did not intrude on our meal. I will definitely be going back!
Very nice restaurant, but lacking in customers
Good food with good service and lovely people
Unfortunately they had a horrible bad showing on Valentine's Day. Worse, it was our 1st visit. Was excited to take my wife but it turned out to be the worst experience we've ever had at a high-ranking OPENTABLE restaurant (or ANY restaurant!). we left even though the meal courses were not completed. Poor service. The owner was trying his best and attempted to apologies regularly. His other server was extremely rude, not considerate and visibly frustrated. Not customer-centric at all. He even took the salt / pepper shAkers from our table 2x's to provide to another table. It took >1hour for us to get the 1st of a set 3 course Valentine's Day meal special. We left after a 2hrs as it was just too long, unproductive + the food was nowhere worth the rating. i considered it a comedy of errors, my wife on the other hand... ! they reduced the bill after we challenged. My wife called days later to inform the owner of the disappointment, he offered us a free meal on return.
We chose the 4 courses & 4 matching wine option, actually turned out as 2 glasses of white, 1 of red, 1 vueve champagne and a cocktail, all for only 30£ a person. Absolute bargain price in a gorgeous restaurant with food that was truly delicious. Only negative would be that service was a little slow although this wasn't much of an issue as it allowed us to enjoy each individual wine choice - perhaps have an extra waiter/ess on when the restaurant is full. Would thoroughly recommend, amazed at what we received for such a relatively small price
Terrible experience. Took an hour to get the meal from the appetizer. Took nearly as long to get dessert. Took forever to get the bill and even longer to then pay the bill with a credit card. It felt like the restaurant was woefully understaffed with two people in the front of house. We heard other tables complaining so it wasn't just us. Soup was undersalted and the fish was way too salty. The crumble was poor. Don't understand why this restaurant was highly rated.
Dissapointed with the restaurant the website picture menu looked really nice, but the food was very ordinary, dry burger over cooked dry sea bass with ordinary veg
The waiter was not very friendly and welcoming at all and a few items missing from the menu.
The downstairs room where the toilets was very messy
Shame as it looked nice on the website
Amazing service made the visit really worth it!
Has a lot of competition from some very good other restaurants on this strip of Hollywood Road so needs to be good to survive. We were the first to arrive on Sunday lunch and it stayed quiet the whole meal but the service was very friendly. Biggest disappointment was the Lobster linguine main course that we both had .... unfortunately the portions are too small and just not enough lobster added!
Apart from this the starters were tasty and everything was presented and prepared to a high standard.
I will try again and hopefully have an even better experience.
Great location and very friendly staff. Struggled to work out why at one point we were the only people in the place, it was a shame. Couldn't fault it from our experience.
Nice looking restaurant but we were the only dinners so it lacking some atmosphere. Main course were ok we ordered crudités for starter there was no cucumber but had been replaced by cherry tomatoes and was a bit small for sharing. We paid £75 which was half price offer not sure I would be happy if I'd paid full price. Would go back but only if I was passing I would not make a special effort to go there.
Attentive service and delicious menu. The lobster Mac and cheese has to be tried!
Stunning! I go to London with a friend every couple of weeks to a new restaurant, and have done for the last year. This is way, way up there. The food was utterly fantastic and the wine was paired perfectly. A lot of thought has gone into this set menu. £30 is absolutely insane for what you get (4 courses, but with a pre-starter and a sorbet palette cleanser....as well as four large glasses of wine), I have paid three times that in London for a lesser meal. The only negative I see from other reviews is the atmosphere....but I really didn't see it. Charming, contemporary little place...soft italian music in the background, and not overly busy. To me, that is ideal as I could actually talk to the person I was with....perhaps if it's a first date, it might exaggerate any awkward silences, though!
Special mention to the staff. I think it was perhaps the manager who served us - he was kind and welcoming without being over-bearing. He asked if there was anything on the menu we didn't like so he could, presumably, change it. He passionately explained each course and wine pairing, and clearly had a wealth of knowledge. Really, very impressed.
Rush down while the £30 set menu is still on, it can't be long before this place is one of the most sought-after tables in Chelsea.
So good I almost hesitate to recommend it. Third time here and each time have been welcomed with excellent food, attentive service, and a nice cozy neighbourhood atmosphere. Some may find it a bit on the quiet side, but if you value being able to have a conversation with your dining companions without shouting over loud music and background noise, while enjoying truly excellent and good value food, you'll really appreciate this restaurant. Definitely a favourite.
We all loved the starters and shared dishes - all very well presented and tasted delicious, fresh and great quality. The main courses were overall good too, however, one improvement is to warm up the plates as the food was not too hot when they were served and cooled down very quickly. Portion sizes were good. With the same offer we had on Opentable, we will definitely bring the family here again.
Excellent service. Cocktail wasn't very good but really enjoyed our meal. Starter, main and dessert all excellent.
We had the 4 course 4 wine special offer and it was the best value top quality meal I have ever eaten in London. 4 courses turned out to be 6, plus bread; the wines were both excellent and beautifully matched to the exceptional food. Everyone should rush to this restaurant and if the 4-4 is still available you should jump at it. It would be good value at twice the price.
Visited here at the weekend for a late lunch. The place was really quiet, but the food was very good and the service exemplary - can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant and was made to feel so welcome. Highly recommend and will be back!
Service was a bit slow, confused and unattentive apart from the one provided by the owner himself, and at least the food I had wasn't that inspiring. However, I think that if I gave it another try I could be positively surprised.
We picked this restaurant for the area, and we're very happy with our choice.
The food was tasty. Only let down by the Apple Crumble dessert. All the staff were very friendly. Will return.
We booked the Artisan Bistro because it was not far from our hotel and in particular because they were offering a 50% reduction on their à la carte menu for dinner reservations up to 6.30 pm.
The plus points were:
The pleasant decor, light furnishings and colourful paintings
The welcoming personnel
The excellent steaks chosen by my husband and grand-daughter (chips for each were extra)
The minus points were:
My mussel and lobster black linguini contained a maximum of five minuscule slivers of lobster (each no bigger than the size of a baby's fingernail). It was like looking for a needle in a haystack!
When we got back to our hotel, we realised that the bill included a 12 and a half% service charge. This was not however calculated on the actual price we paid (which included the 50% reduction), but on what the bill would have been without any reduction.
These two factors mean that ultimately we were rather disappointed in the restaurant.
The food is ok but nothing exceptional. Pasta was nice but the boquerones as a starter were not fresh. Menu has potential but overall this restaurant seems a bit soul-less
Great place, lovely staff and delicious food as well as value! Definitely coming back
We went to the Artesian Bistro on a Thursday night and whilst it wasn't super busy it didn't feel empty, it was cosy with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were lovely and the food was very nice indeed. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would go back. We took up the offer of 50% off food which made it really excellent value. We all had a lovely evening and would certainly recommend. The Lobster mac and cheese and seafood sail boat were very popular with our party. Portions not huge but sufficient. Menu is geared towards fish and seafood but with various other options too. Good for a relaxed evening, not noisy and relaxed.
Excellent food, delicious! very good service, the toilets were not great though and the restaurant was very quiet when we went so the atmosphere could have been slightly better. I will certainly be returning though!
Great little find.
It was empty when I arrived but quickly filled up.
The waitress asked our party of 2 to move over one table so they could fit a table of 4 in - no problem. She gave us white russians with dessert as a thank you - delicious.
We both ordered from the fixed menu (3 courses and a champagne cocktail for £25). All of the courses were delicious. I especially liked the lobster and macaroni and cheese.
Great wine list too.
Would love to return.
A very pleasant evening with excellent and attentive service. Crab cake starter had a delicate balance of subtle flavours, as did the burrata and tomato salad. Grilled sea bream was presented whole, yet with the bone removed. This was accompanied by an impressive and unusual white burgundy (Saint Veran), which was much improved by being decanted, on the (spot on) advice of the manager.
What a great find, thanks trip adviser. Was walking distance from where we were staying. Service was fast and friendly. Food was great, would especially recommend the truffle fries. Didn't wait particularly long for the entree or main. The ability to secure a booking online was convenient as well. I managed to find photos of most of the menu items online so I had a pretty good idea as to what I'd order before we went. I had the mixed seafood dish which was excellent, bread to soak up the sauce was a great touch. My wife had the steak which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We were visiting from Australia and this was one of the highlights we had regarding dinner in London.
Fantastic meal from start to finish. Attentive and personal service, wonderful food, and real value for money - rare in this neighbourhood. Will definitely return soon.
Had a really nice time Artisan Bistro. The ambiance is very welcoming and calming. The owner was very attentive and made suggestions for the menu. His personality and conversation made us feel at ease. The oyster platter was very beautifully presented and fresh. There was a balanced selection of food. The tuna tartare was very fresh and delicate. The steak was made perfectly. The food was good value. The lobster linguine could be improved with perhaps the lobster shell presented and the linguine more al dente. We had really lovely desserts. The pistachio ice cream was very flavorful with the crumble accompanying it nicely and giving an extra texture with each bite. The chocolate tart was also very good. Before leaving the owner had made his own limoncello which was very nice to try on the house. Would definitely come back.
Absolutely brilliant food, great service and lovely place. Totally worth visiting! Added to my list of my favourite restaurants!
The staff, the food and the interior was absolutely lovely! They were very attentive throughout and catered to all our requests, can't wait to go back, the lobster Mac and cheese was amazing, the espresso martini is one of the best I've tried!
Great service...Great Food!
This is the second time I visited The Artisan Bistro and I highly recommend this restaurant if you are passionate about food and wine pairing, and if you like to try a little bit less traditional type of food and wine pairing.
The owner of the restaurant is very knowledgeable and passionate about wine and he can recommend very good wine choice for their excellent food. All staffs are very friendly and the whole dining experience was just relaxing and lovely.
The first time I visited, the owner recommended that I can pair the oysters with Manzanilla la Guitarita. It was wonderful mix of flavour and they enhanced each other. This time he made me a pisco bitter for the oysters which are equally good. I had one of their signature dishes – lobster and mussel black linguine for main and he recommended a Grenache to match with it (I might have remembered the name wrong but it’s a light-medium body red wine with red fruit flavour). Normally people would match white wine with seafood as a safe choice but this wine matches perfectly with the linguine – but red fruit flavour in the wine just got more rounded creaminess from the ink of the linguine and the freshness of the lobster. It was wonderful.
For dessert, I wanted a glass of sauternes but he recommended me a Muscadet from Loire Valley even it was off menu. He gave me a chocolate cake to match with it. The sweet and bitterness in the chocolate cake enhanced the star fruit/melon taste in the Muscadet and it was wonderful.
The Artisan Bistro serves excellent food with a passionate and knowledgeable owner. Their services are personal, friendly and it really is one of my favourite restaurants in London.
The restaurant is really good with a little garden (closing at 9.00 pm). The boss was really nice and we could feel the passion. The food was good, even though a bit expensive for what you get.
Finally, the waitress was much ruder and not really friendly ...
Use fresh ingredients.
Staff friendly & very obliging.
Wine list attractively priced but needs extension and attention.
Digestive list does not include, brandy; cognac, or Armagnac or grappa or any similar
So happy to find this restaurant. Great service, atmosphere, food. Definitely coming back!
We had chosen this new restaurant to celebrate two family members getting engaged. Unfortunately a bad experience. No welcome on arrival even though not busy. No atmosphere. Not friendly. Owner had a very funny offish attitude. Ordered Macaroni cheese and lobster - no lobster! Had to send it back - they re-did it - still couldn't see any lobster. Was a horrible dish so left hungry. Other dish was a fish sail boat which was recommended by the waitress. Prawns tasted as if they had just been defrosted and white wine sauce was bland and tasteless so this was not eaten either.
Understand that this is a new restaurant but the right attitude goes along way.
Do not waste your money - there are lots of lovely restaurants in Hollywood Road. Give this one a miss.
From two very disappointed customers
We arrived on time but they didn't have our table ready. However, the staff was super accommodating and went out of their way to be nice to our three children, including offering them mocktails. The kids has the roast chicken and like the chimichurri sauce. I had the lobster pasta which was tasty. The chocolate soufflé was very good as well.
A really good neighborhood restaurant with amazingly fresh food. Really nice, but limited, outdoor seating. Everything we tried was really good, freshest mussels we have ever had.
Unfortunate choice for our last dinner in London -- the service was awkward, it took an hour between our arrival and getting our entrees...and when they arrived, the descriptions on the menu didn't accurately portray the dishes. The chef (owner?) brought us free after-dinner cocktails, but overall the price is too high for what we got.
