We really enjoyed our evening. Was a bit of a celebration as my daughter had a new job. The only thing I would say because she is a vegetarian we checked the menu on line which suggested a couple of veggie options but once there there was only one offering. It was nice but nicer to have a choice.
We stumbled across this place last minute after deciding at 5pm we wanted to eat out. I asked for recommendations on Instagram and a few people mentioned this place. 40 minutes away but well worth the drive.
The service was exceptional, without feeling like we were being hovered over.
The food was beautifully presented, without being fussy, and was delicious.
We were driving so didnt tuck into the wine list but will definitely do so in the future, there are some cracking wines on there, that will have us wondering if we can book a room nearby so we can both enjoy them.
This may well be our new favourite place to eat, and we will definitely be back very soon. Big hugs to Liam and Liz who were fabulous.
Amazing food and service. Cannot fault this place. Great to have it so local. Can't wait to go back.
It was ok. The interior is nicely done and the standard of the food was better than in a lot of pubs, but it was overly expensive for what we got. £20+ for a carafe of less than a bottle of wine and £4+ for side dishes is way too expensive given the price of the set meal (and without those side dishes, the meals felt a little imbalanced). It felt a little gimmicky too (e.g. the wooden stands for the cutlery) and lacking in the ambience that I think people want from a cosy pub by the side of a park. It's clear that a lot of time and effort has gone into its relaunch, and we'd like it to do well, but a few small changes - particularly to improve its value for money - might be needed.
The food was well presented and tasted lovely. The staff were attentive and very accommodating. Excellent experience.
Great service, simple locally sourced menu, good wine list. We will definitely be returning.
Great value, local well sourced meat, fabulous cheeseboard, everything cooked perfectly. Top service
Excellent. Highly recommend. Normally I can’t be bothered to rate places, but felt the whole team at the Bailiwick were outstanding and we spent a very enjoyable 3 hours there. Definitely will return.
First timers and very impressed with both food and service. Special shout out to Anna who was looking after our table, she did a sterling job and coped very well even though new to the job. Overall experience was great with the venison bon bon's to die for!
Wonderful all round
Great food, great service and a lovely location to sit, eat and drink.
Thank you for a lovely Sunday roast meal. Fantastic service, each member of staff knew what they were doing and it was all so professional. Our meal was presented beautifully and was so delish, we will definitely return.
We had a very good experience at this pub .The food was excellent. The service was very good. The staff were welcoming & friendly. The music not suitable for a classy pub it needed to be less intrusive. I really can’t fault this place otherwise.
I would recommend this delightful pub for anyone who enjoys good food at a reasonable
over priced for what you get. not as good as the staff proclaim when selling the food to you when choosing your meal.
informative staff that becomes a little annoying at times. interrupting conversation to get the mundane details of the butter manufacturer told to us.
portions average, taste average but prices high.
lastly desert is not as good as the waiting team tell you. Deserts specials average. go for the norm on the menu. Specials not that special.
Food was amazing, service was just slow… Friendly staff though and a great night
Delicious food, very gourmet eg my moules mariniere came ready-shelled in the sauce -unexpected but very tasty. Set price menu was a great idea for either two or three courses. Not cheap and potatoes/vegetables were extra but very high quality food and excellent service.
Popped in for a celebratory lunch and had the most wonderful time. The food and service were outstanding — brilliant, brilliant all-round.
Lovely gastropub, with great food, drinks and service. Highly recommended.
We visited for the first time last week and we really impressed. The service was extremely friendly and the food delicious. Highly recommended.
We were 4 visitors who walked to the restaurant, all local residents. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff were the "survivors" from Oxford Blue in Old Windsor. Whilst the ambience was good as more diners came the interference from noise levels increased. One of our party wears hearing aids and she struggled to hear our conversation but could hear the table opposite. The food was outstanding but it is still not cheap which will limit the time we might visit. Overall however we thoroughly recommend this new venture and we hope it is there for many years to come
Lovely setting and good food with friendly service
Sunday lunch for a birthday celebration . Food and service was outstanding.
Food very good, not cheap but worth it. First table we were given was not nice, almost in a corridor with a view of a fire escape! Head waiter made a bit of an issue of us moving table but it was resolved. Waitress was very good.
Fantastic meal and service
It's a shame, this place is lovely but the service was absolutely terrible when we went. Our waitress didn't smile once until we had to crack a joke. Another waiter was so rude when we asked for the dessert menu while we were still having our food (some of us were done), he very rudely said to us "relax" and walked off! I was very embarrassed, i took my family there to celebrate my partner's birthday and they just made it a terrible experience.
I am not sure if I'd go there again after such an experience. For me it's all about the service, it's a shame because it's a lovely place.
Great food and service. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Just a tad too noisy. Needs more sound absorbing surface decoration.
Very good service with very good food for a special day
Everything from arrival to departure was truly catered for! We were made feel like family and royalty. Nothing was a problem and everything that I requested was always met with a smile, a yes and a can do attitude. Truly remarkable and a memorable experience. Thank You Liam and team!
Great food and great service!
Really lovely experience. Some familiar faces from the Oxford Blue which was great. Service outstanding. Food outstanding. Gorgeously decorated.. great menu.. all just fabulous.
We went to a newly opened venue locally a few weeks prior on a similar price point, the service was terrible - they should get trained by these guys! Impeccable. So pleased they’ve taken over this quaint, quintessentially English pub. It’ll be our new regular haunt.
The Bailiwick Free House has only recently been refurbished and taken over by the amazing team led by the wonderful Liam. The food is outstanding and not your usual choice. The service was excellent, too. Very attentive and super friendly. We had a great evening and will be back no doubt.
well done to the young man who took our order . He was funny very attentive and knew what he was doing , he made the experience very enjoyable we would definitely return.
Great food, service and ambience.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
excellent as always. Great food , fresh ingredients and impeccable service
Rural location right at the gate of Windsor Park. Many of the team from one of my favourite restaurants in Windsor called Oxford Blue have moved here and the food was of a high quality. Venison Bon Bon’s and the sea bass were both excellent.
Perfect food, perfect company and great friendly service
Great food, great service, good atmosphere
Fantastic restaurant, superb food and friendly staff.
Amazing food, fantastic service and wonderful staff.
The menu had a great choice, the food standard and presentation was fantastic.
All the staff were so friendly welcoming and attentive. Liam was a star, nothing was too much trouble for him and his team
We can’t wait to visit again
Wonderful food, with exceptional service. Liam and his team provided a fabulous dining experience and have got everything just right in this fantastic new location. I would highly recommend The Balliwick to anyone looking to enjoy a night of fine dining.
