Very COVID-secure. Partitions between tables, diners not placed on neighbouring tables, cutlery in individual pouches; much appreciated as an ex-shielding person. Slight lapse on waitress’ part so I deducted 1 star: bread fell off plate, so she picked up with bare fingers (didn’t eat that piece). Food excellent and piping hot.
Best food I’ve had for a long ,, nothing like your average roast , perfect food and very friendly staff 10/10
Lovely pub, friendly staff, great food and dog friendly
Delicious food and excellent service. Very cosy pub in lovely setting.
I chose the wrap which was delicious and generous... but my 2 friends had the panini which was hard and cold. When they sent it back, instead of a new meal, chef just grilled the inside so it was hardly any better. Apart from this, we enjoyed it but I would have complained and demanded they start from scratch !
It was all good thankyou and I will definitely book another time in the future
It was a very enjoyable meal and the food was very good.
There is an interesting menu to choose from but we couldn’t manage a pudding but were tempted.
The service was excellent.
Good service from helpful and friendly staff. Lovely pub, tastefully decorated. The food was very good. I had the steak and mushroom pie. Probably the best pie I have ever had. My friends were also happy with their order. There is a lovely outdoor are too.
Nice decor, good food and friendly service. Would recommend.
Massive portion for the roast, delicious! No space for pud though!
It was cold and I inviting inside the barley mow the food was fab but not enough for the cost
Been here a couple of times and it’s usually very good but on this particular occasion is wasn’t up to scratch. We ordered drinks which we didn’t receive and were billed for, when I pointed this out, the server turned to the bar where our drinks had been sitting for about 30 minutes. By this time we’d already finished our food & just wanted to pay and leave but they brought the drinks over anyway. Also my glass had lipstick on it, which makes social distancing somewhat redundant. I appreciate that it’s difficult, given the current situation. But the service was pretty bad. We also had a long wait to pay. Roast dinner good but maybe go when less busy.
Extremely clean and well sanitised. Staff were very friendly, food delicious, all in all would recommend
We ate here on a Saturday at the weekend. We were not impressed to be served by staff who were not using a mask or visor. We feel this was very bad practice with the new restrictions and it made us feel very uncomfortable. One staff member had a badge saying they were exempt but surely could still use a visor. This is the only restaurant I have been to where the staff were not using PPE. We also felt the tables were not spaced out enough. Not only this we felt the food was mediocre with reconstructed scampi. Don’t think we will be returning!
Covid measures in place and seemed OK until we noticed the staff didn't wear masks. Service was good. Food was not as good as we've had in the past. The garlic mayo on the burger was excessive and so strong it overwhelmed the flavour of everything else. The Cumberland sausages were overcooked and very crunchy on the outside. Food has been better when we've been before so it's a shame the standard dropped on Saturday.
The food was amazing and the staff were friendly. Well organised although it was very quiet as Monday lunchtime
Good food and well organised service given the current restrictions in place
Second visit with my daughter to celebrate her obtaining a new job. Certainly quite an expensive meal so I only go for a treat or celebration. Despite being a 1 year gap between visits, the standard of service and food has been consistently good so definitely worth a visit.
Extensive menu with lovely food. Service was excellent too - great pub. I’d highly recommend.
Incredibly good Sunday roast. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent meal, good portions, quick and friendly service
Excellent food on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon 😎😊
Great food and a lovely place with friendly staff.
The Barley Mow was nothing like the photos on OpenTable, Tripadvisor or Google. The two young ladies running the place were pleasant and polite but it was empty of customers, the ale was flat and lifeless, and the menu was purely unimaginative pub fare. Make no mistake - this is not a restaurant! I can only imagine it was under different management a few years ago and has gone downhill since.
Good service, gluten free options and nice garden area.
Great playground set up, everyone happy. Food was lovely and speedy, staff great. Highly recommend.
Good food ,local bitter just right,no complaints from our party
We didn't have a good experience and neither did many of your other customers...lots of ppl complaining. Service was ok but not great, bit annoyed that you are charging 10% service charge on service you haven't actually received yet? There was not enough staff to deal with all your customers and the queues were ridiculous, I spent more time queing than sitting down relaxing, we had nearly finished our mains and still didn't have any drinks, we also paid for food we didn't actually receive.
The staff very pleasant and attentive, there should have been 6 of us but one couple couldn’t make, a blessing in disguise because we wouldn’t have all fitted on the benches 4 was ample!! We had to go out round the back to exit the restaurant which was fine but there was no lightning we had to use our mobiles to see where we were going. This Is positive criticism We had a lovely meal in a lovely venue. Thank you
Nice quiet meal in pleasant surroundings. Service good although menu a little limited.
Lovely restaurant, attentive staff and excellent food, definitely be back.
The barley mow was a pleasant surprise as we had been here before a few years ago and wasn't that impressed but this time it was really good so will return as we only live up the road.
The food had that bit extra , like the chef actually cared , recommended.
Lovely food but quite expensive. One burger was cold and uneaten for which we received a 50% discount.
Ordered two of the special fillet steaks medium rare. One came as well done and the other virtually blue. Didn't send them back as the pub was extremely busy, so a bit disappointing.
Vegan steak was poor but otherwise ok sweets overpriced at £6.50 each
Lovely pub and setting, friendly and efficient service. Good choice for vegans!
This is the 3rd meal out since lockdown and is far the best. Food and choice amazing, well organised, staff professional and polite. Would highly recommend
Great service, staff were really helpful and really lovely food, didn’t wait long at all. Would recommend.
We have been to the Barley Mow many times; often for a Sunday roast. This was disappointing. We ordered roast beef, only to be told they had run out. We changed to roast pork - it was pretty tasteless, the yorkshire pudding was burnt and the roast pots had been around a while! We then ordered a pudding, both asking for the banoffee pie - they had run out! My husband then said he'd have an ice cream followed by a coffee. The coffee came first then the ice cream.
It was a very disappointing meal and we won't be hurrying to return.
This was not the first time I had eaten at the, Barley Mow so I was feeling confident of high quality food, if a little pricey. I was immediately surprised when I saw the menu for the evening which, though cheaper than I remembered, lacked the variety of that advertised on the website and which I had enjoyed on previous visits. My partner chose scampi which was awful - dry, devoid of taste and more fried bread than any fish. Inside were unidentifiable white cubes of something vaguely white fish like. My tart was nothing to write home about either. I cd not taste the, asparagus, which had been murdered with over cooking. The puddings were fine although rather off the shelf. Where' are your high gastronomic standards of before? The staff were all very sweet, cheerful and attentive without being intrusive and managed to create a nice atmosphere despite Covid restrictions, but you need to improve your food.
