The Belgian Arms
We offer really tasty British food that’s beautifully cooked, a great selection of wines and a really good pint.
The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly. The Belgian Arms is the ideal spot for meeting up with family and friends, an informal business lunch or dinner and simply having fun.
Friday - Saturday: 11.00am - 12.00pm
Sunday: 11.00am - 10.00pm
Between the hours of 2.30pm & 6.30pm on Friday and Saturday, we offer a slightly reduced afternoon menu.
Had a really good dinner meal; actually a business meal combined with friends for drinks and nibbles - so service was nice and flexible. Food was excellent on this evening. Overall Belgian Arms has kept high quality food coming out of the kitchen and improved ambience. Eating outside is particularly popular and they must just make sure there is plenty of smoke FREE tables and smoke doesn't drift onto non-smokers. Be great to exclude smoking altogether!!
It took a while to get seated for Sunday lunch even though the table was free when we arrived and it wasn’t that busy inside (outside was packed!). The food was great in general. Could have done with more gravy but I did ask for an extra small jug so that was fine. The only downside was that the Yorkshire pudding was really greasy, to the point where a good tablespoon of oil could be poured out of the pudding where it had pooled. I love the Belgian arms, and vs other pubs it was great, but for the money (£83 for two people’s Sunday lunch) I wanted more from service or the food
We are regulars and feel that the pub is settling down to be an ideal local meeting place but able to attract visitors for its good food, excellent beer, and a sensible wine list. The service is friendly and efficient without being obtrusive.
Lovely place. Great table service. Shame about the wasps but it seems to happen at a lot of pubs. Good outside seating area.
Saturday lunch , four people . We were surprised that there were only 4 meals to choose from . Which really set the tone for the whole afternoon. The starters were not to bad but they brought out the sharing board twice and ended up charging us for it , which is always a little irritating . The fish and chips was bland but the burger was highly rated . The sausages in the sausages and mash again were excellent but the mash was non existent. However the real complaint was the speed of service which was terrible. My feeling was we had caught this pub- staff on a bad day and my gut feel is they normally have been better than the experience we had
Good food, great service, staff worked hard and tried to please on what was a busy night that was full of distractions.
Lovely village pub with view over pond, warm service and excellent cooking.
We had a fantastic Sunday Lunch with great food and great service, however we are earthly dinners and the area we were in was otherwise empty. Just before we finished a very large family party arrived in the same area and they were so noisy that we couldn't have a conversation so we left without coffee. It would be good if small parties were able to sit on a quieter side of the restaurant rather than being placed next to a very large party.
I have eaten here about a dozen times. Today was the first time I did not leave a tip. I requested a specific table when I booked. When we arrived the said table was empty and had not been set up for us, instead the waitress wanted to seat us elsewhere. I do not think they read our booking. Service was slow, food was mediocre at best. I used to give The Belgian Arms 5 stars, but I am sorry to say I am unable to award that rating again.
Wonderfully cooked salmon with asparagus, samphire and new potatoes. Side order of perfectly cooked carrots with honey and pistachio nut and green beans onions and Soy sauce were both wonderful. We will be back.
I haven’t tried it yet but it seems to have a great Vegan menu
Returned on Friday night after lovely delicious fish and chips on Monday , the same meal however (even though different fish) did not resemble Mondays at all, batter chewy and thick not cooked through, chips very dry and felt like yesterday's refried. Would recommend after Mondays meal but not after Fridays offering.
Food fabulous, great value ,& the service is excellent just a really nice place to go and have an enjoyable evening ,,, or lunchtime
Just a wonderful experience all round. the food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. Sarah one of the managers there is super! very friendly and attentive. we will be going back here, there fish and chips is to die for! fabulous surroundings and very relaxed atmosphere.
Usual alfresco table great atmosphere as ever super evening at BA
We had fish and chips and fizz and sat outside.
Fantastic service and really helpful waiters who even booked our taxi for us.
Would definitely return.
I haven't been to the Belgian under the new management so was interested to see. Setting is as good as always. The menu was not too overwhelming and I was able to swap potatoes for salad without a problem. I had the lamb and my friend had the salmon. Both very tasty and filling. Tried several of their special gin's but didn't really find one I liked so I will have to go back to carry on the tasting. What a dreadful thing to have to do at such a super place!! Thank you Belgian for a really super evening.
Went for lunch but service was very slow, especially as there seemed to be enough wait staff but they were just really slow
Despite Front of House and kitchen being rammed all day due to England playing Sweden the team still manged albeit a little slow to deliver excellent well presented food, dining alfresco made the evening just that much better. Holyport's star attraction The Belgian Arms
The restaurant is set in the heart of Holyport with scenic views over the village pond and green. Garden seating, a terraced dining area and comfortable indoor dining areas make for an enjoyable olde-worlde village pub/restaurant dining experience. There is a bar area with seating for the casual visitor. The atmosphere is friendly, and there is a buzz without the noise being overly intrusive. Live music available on some weekends. The kitchen staff are helpful and accomodating, and there is a good selection of fresh food which is creatively prepared and presented. Good for children - outdoor grass dining area which is enclosed and secluded from the road. The only thing that would improve the experience would be more attentive/faster customer service. I'll definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere, very courteous and efficient maitre’d.
Food was very good and well presented. Only prevented from getting five stars as the waiting staff were more intent on chatting to each other than attending to customers as the evening progressed. This didn’t significantly detract from the evening, but it could have improved it.
Good value and good location - friendly service and well worth visiting
First visit for many years, new management about a year ago. Pub bright and clean, staff smart and friendly, several locals there on a Friday evening. Tables with reasonable space around. Beer and wine was good, service prompt and efficient. I had pate and then fish and chips, my wife calamari then salmon. Tartar sauce seemed to be home made, nice change. Slightly surprised the peas were rather wrinkly, so might have been hanging around a bit, but all other food cooked well, so forgiven. Don't expect Michelin stars, just sound pub food. Good ambience in the bar, and not too noisy so could chat without ears ringing.
This was our first experience at The Belgian Arms so we weren’t sure what to expect, we were surprised and disappointed that you hadn’t got any New Zealand Sauvignon at the bar, but the food compensated for our disappointment because it was really amazing. The evening was very enjoyable.
We visited the Belgian Arms often before it was taken over and stopped going because the food became "too fancy" with deconstructed crumble etc. This was our first visit since the new management took over and it was fantastic. We had starters which were excellent, we both had the roast for main (Pork and Beef) which was very good - my only negative would be that the roast potatoes were not as good as before. A little soggy. The rest was great and the beef was perfect. My husband had the Apple Crumble for dessert and he was very impressed. We will definitely be going again - and next time make certain we book to eat in the garden. The service was very friendly and relaxed. We had a very enjoyable experience.
It is a very good place to have supper in very friendly surroundings with good reliable food and good service.
We look forward to being able to have lunch there but await a lighter lunch menu.
Fantastic roast beef with great service & polite staff
I have visited this pub at least 6 times during the last 6 months for dinner and drinks with family and friends. The pub has great ambience, friendly service, great food and I like the ale. Not the cheapest but worth it. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service in traditional pub setting
We went a few weeks before on a Thursday lunch time and had a lovely meal, so decided to go back on a Saturday for birthday.
Same menu, but much reduced in size we had same meal due to limited choice, but very disappointing e.g. over cooked dry sausages. Was OK, but as previous quality not there was overpriced.
I guess we choose a bad day when the service was not up to the normal standard. Table service for drinks was unbearably slow.
Revisited the Belgian Arms after many years and found it to be an excellent place to eat, still with great beer and fantastic choice of gluten free offerings, including beer, for my partner. Service was a little slow but not the end of the world and bar a bit livelier than it might normally be due to one very well oiled customer. Will be back.
Fabulous meal! Service was exceptional with a warm friendly welcome from the moment we arrived, food was delicious, highly recommend the fish & chips! Will definitely be returning very soon.
Lovely village pub with friendly staff, amazing food and a great overall environment to be in. I highly reccomend the Duck- will be returning for sure!
I have visited the Belgian Arms on many occasions and use it as a preferred stop when travelling between Windsor and Stonehenge. On this occasion, the weather was perfect and we sat in the garden. The service was impeccable, we were well looked after and the meal was delicious. A really super experience. It far exceeded my expectations. Thanks to all at The Belgian Arms.
Friendly, attentive staff. When you add in a beautiful venue and imaginative and tasty vegan dishes, you’ve got a winner. So many places don’t make an effort for customers who prefer veggie and vegan food, but the Belgian Arms certainly values those customers. We’ll be back (again!).
It is very rare that me and my family are able to find a decent dining area which sell a roast dinner worth the money. My dad in particular is fussy with roasts and we have struggled trying many restaurants trying to find one that we can thoroughly enjoy! We all had a 3 course meal and every single meal was outstanding from the presentation all the way to the taste!! Everything in the roast dinner was home made and the meat was so tender, we couldn’t compliment the food enough, each course was divine! The service was amazing and all very friendly atmosphere, they were very helpful and were pleasant to interact with. The food is so worth the money and in our opinion wasn’t overly expensive either. We will definitely be coming back to try other foods as they looked amazing and will 100% be returning for Sunday roasts in the future. Can’t praise the restaurant enough and their staff.
Lovely place to sit outside and have dinner. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Food was very tasty and well presented.
Only found this pub because of a traffic diversion, so it was a lucky find! Will definitely be back.
Eaten here many times, thoroughly enjoyable, The cheese suffle is to die for, but please go back to the original recipe using stronger gruyer cheese, the goats cheese is not strong enough. One of my guests is from Kerela in southern India so the Kerelan Curry was a must. He described it as authentic and very tasty. See you soon, we will be back.
A very short notice trip. Booked online and plenty of availability. Very good fish curry.
Have visited the Belgian Arms in many occasions and was looking forward to a family celebration for my birthday. Table of 6 at 7.45pm The place was heaving, more of a pub atmosphere now rather than a dining venue. We were stuck in the garden room between the kitchen and toilets so a main thoroughfare. Had been expecting to eat in dinning area. Noisy, too many children and constant banging against our chairs. Could not have a proper conversation. Exceptionally slow service to even acknowledge us once seated and no menus. Food took forever although we did get an apology for the late main course. Gave up when it came to dessert and coffee and went home. 2hrs to have 2 courses. Have always loved coming here but I’m afraid there is too much competition around so will be going there in future.
