The Belgian Arms
We offer really tasty British food that’s beautifully cooked, a great selection of wines and a really good pint.
The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly. The Belgian Arms is the ideal spot for meeting up with family and friends, an informal business lunch or dinner and simply having fun.
i have been dining at the Belgium arms for many years, and this was one of the best meals i have had in a long time...
the portion sizes are just right, and some new additions to the menu really added something new
would highly recommend
Always a lovely meal at the Belgian arms! Brunch is especially good and the service staff and very attentive and accommodating. Brunch is very affordable and a lovely atmosphere for catching up with friends
Hi Leah, Thank you very much for your feedback. Your comments will be passed on throughout the team. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes, Team BA
Not many people so lacked usually buzzy atmosphere.
Very nice food and service and well chosen wine list
Hi There, Thank you very much for your review. I guess the January Blues kept everyone away from the pub for a day or two. Hopefully the usual buzz you experience will be back again next time you visit. Best wishes, Team BA
Sadly the mains were rather poor and took over an hour to arrive. Wonderful location and pub though if just having a drink
A small and widely scattered group of six of us seems to end up in the Belgian Arms for lunch each year between Christmas and New Year. 2019 was most enjoyable: Lauren looked after us very well. Our table was just out of the main bar area, with three seated on what looked like a Church pew with lots of cushions, and three facing them on 'ordinary' chairs. Inevitably as the pub filled over lunchtime it did get a bit noisy, but we could manage to converse without too much difficulty. The duck breast was very good, nicely cooked and not at all tough. The stone bass fish of the day was reported to be excellent, and the Kerala curry was tasty without being unnecessarily hot. The puddings (chocolate tart, poached pear and salted caramel ice cream, the latter specially purloined from the galley by Lauren), rounded us off. Our gang certainly will be back next year, and the Belgian Arms is very much on our list for when we are in that part of the world.
Wonderful food and service as always. One of favourite places to dine !
I have only given three stars overall as I was very disappointed with my main course. I had chosen the beetroot, goat’s cheese and pearl barley on the previous Thursday evening and it was delicious. However on Saturday it was barely edible as it was greatly over peppered and with hardly any goat’s cheese , which was essential to maintain a balance of ingredients. I did complain to the waiter but I had no feedback, or even the remotest apology. The saving grace of the meal was the chocolate pave with ice cream and peanut brittle. Very nice indeed. I do like consistency in a dish and will sample the pearl barley dish another time and hope there is a light hand with the pepper.
Great food lovely service and a very pleasant environment
Might be better-to make a noise break from the bar to the seating area in the conservatory.
But a fun place to visit
Good to have vegetarian choices but barley/beetroot risotto slight out of balance - less barley please.
Soufle starter excellent as was the duck
Food average, pork tough and Very fatty, the three other guests had beef which they said was delicious. Potatoes hard and very little veg for four people.
The service was very good throughout the evening - we were initially shown to a table in a remote corner behind non-dining tables - quite an odd set up, but were cheerfully moved to an alternative table. The mushrooms in truffle butter was . not what I expected - the mushrooms were chopped so the dish looked like scramble eggs on toast - not a whole mushroom in sight. The flavour was good.
The Hake was fresh and cooked perfectly but the bouillabaisse sauce was lacking as it was a thick tomato puree rather than a stick based clear broth.
The vegetables were green , hot and perfect in texture - no mean feat.

Great to see a local place with such a lovely selection of wines by the glass and carafe. The food was fabulous too.
Very good food, service matched our speed (slow, lots to talk about). Would definitely go again.
Hi there, Many thanks for your review. We really appreciate your feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes, The BA Team
We had a lovely lunch at the Belgian Arms - nice to meet somewhere there is ample parking and it has a really nice vibe inside. The only thing I would say is that it was a little on the cold side (not by the roaring fire but the dog walkers had nabbed that spot!) Service was attentive but not over powering, food was delicious and a really excellent dessert menu in my opinion.
Hi there, Many thanks for your review! Apologise that the pub was on the chilly side, we've informed out front of house team and are working on getting the pub warmed up. We really appreciate your feedback. Best wishes, The BA Team
Great service, table was all ready and staff gave a warm reception. Food was enjoyed by all 6 of us.
Hi there, Thank you very much for your review, glad that you had a great time with us here at The Belgian Arms. We look forward to hopefully seeing you again soon Best wishes, The BA Team

Best for in Berkshire?....yes probably.
Great service too but the food is the reason to eat here
A great pub for a catch up and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Hi Ali, Thank you very much for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Many thanks, The BA Team
Had a lovely lunch and the staff are always friendly.
Have visited a few times as in the summer the garden is lovely and on colder days the pub is cosy and always warm.
The lunch menu has something for everyone and they will tweak meals if you request a slight change.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Karen, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoy the pub the whole year around. The fires now burning away as the weather has certainly turned for the winter. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes, The BA Team
Really lovely pub and great food; will return for sure!
less good than normal as we all struggled with menu choices. Disappointed to be squeezed on to a table that was too small when booking for 5 was made several weeks out and a table for 8/10 was used by 5 behind us
Lovely atmosphere, wonderful service. Food was delicious and nice selection
The service was very inconsistent which is unusual .
Great food and service, but very noisy. The menu is quite small, but some lovely options (well for me). Very nicely cooked and very tasty food. The steak that one of our party had was quite small and had a lot of fat on it. My fish dish was super and was probably the better choice. The pub itself was unfortunately very noisy where we sat as there was a large table of lads who seemed to shout at one another rather than talk. We will however try again as the service and food were worth a revisit.
A lovely welcome: service was prompt but not over-bearing. The food was thoroughly enjoyed by me and by my dining companion. We were full after the main course but couldn't resist the delicious sounding desserts and were very glad we succumbed! I would recommend the BA to others and hope to return again myself.
Lovely food. I had the fish pie and a generous smidgen of cheese.
Very noisy with a vibrant Friday night drinking crowd, food was very nice, service ok & bill was about what i'd expect. Will definitely return but request a table away from the bar!!
I brought guests from the USA who were looking for a typical country pub. The Belgian Arms satisfies the bill and then some. A lovely setting with a wide choice of food and drink. I look forward to my next visit.
The service and food were really good. We were celebrating my Aunts 86th birthday in a very quiet way. The pub organised a plate with a message and a candle for her. The waitress also bought one of our younger members a cup of warm milk because she thought she wanted it. Really really kind and the food was deliscious.
Great food and service from all of the staff was excellent, would definitely book again
Disappointed that the Mussels had been take off the menu. We'd had them a week earlier and was one reason to return as by far the best mussels I've had in a very long time. Sadly no other starters appealed to us but the mains were delicious both the lamb rump and rib eye steak. My daughter then opted for the waffle desert but with amendments (no praline and vanilla ice Cream) which was no problem at all for the staff and I went for the smidgeon of cheese - a great idea if not wanting a full cheese board. Would certainly recommend and will be returning.
Hi there, Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear that the mussels where not available for you at this time. Next time you make a reservations here with us and have any specific requests please do let us know (24 hours in advanced) so we can make special arrangements for you. We look forward to seeing you again soon, The BA Team
Another excellent meal at the Belgian. We stopped for lunch on our to our holidays and it made an excellent start. We sat on the back terrace and thoroughly enjoyed Steak Frites and fish and chips. Service was great and very friendly. We’ll be back
Hi there, Many thanks for your review, we are so glad that you had another great meal with us at The Belgian Arms. Hopefully you had a great holiday! We look forward to seeing you again soon. The BA Team
Regular visitor for lunch.
Worth going for a meal.
As always a great meal. Fish & Chips is great and the Scotch Egg is a favourite!
I have written several positive reviews about the Belgian Arms but if there was a criticism it is that the menu doesn't change enough for regulars like ourselves. However, this visit had a special of skate on the menu and all four of us ordered it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well presented, cooked beautifully and -as always here- served with excellent fresh vegetables.
Hi Bryan, Many thanks for your review. We are so glad that you enjoyed the delicious Fish of the Day - Skate Wing. Your feedback has been appreciated and passed on. We have a new menu going life for the autumn season on the 7th October. Best wishes, The BA Team
Always quality food and great service, a relaxed favourite
The pub is still a favourite and we were particularly well looked after on Saturday.
We will be back soon!
Excellent food and service in this traditional village pub. My rib eye steak was delicious and my wife enjoyed her Brakspear glazed chicken leg. Nice bottle of Australian Pinot Noir too !
