Great service, staff were amazing!!
Food great but supprise glass of chardonnay wine was £9
Lovely meal, great service, extensive menu, nice wine, excellent ambience with nooks and crannies everywhere to hide away in. Will return.
Good range of choices. Food well prepared. Service excellent.
Well spaced tables. Attentive and accommodating staff. Good well presented menu.
The food was restricted to a set NYE menu priced at £50 a head for 3 courses (and £45 for 2 courses). The restricted menu wasn't made clear when we booked.
When our food arrived, my wife did not enjoy the overly rich cheese souffle and didn't eat the caramelized onion tart main course, because it tasted oily and flavourless and the roast potatoes tasted like they'd been reheated.
My wild boar ravioli starter came smothered in rocket and red onion having asked for NO rocket - and just a couple of ravioli parcels. While my steak was nice, the half a tomato, mushroom and half a dozen chips didn't seem good value.
Finally, when our bill arrived my wife's courses were itemised as £5 for the starter and £55 for the main (£60 total), which baffled me as it was £50 for 3 courses and we declined the dessert. The waitress raised it with the manager and the bill was adjusted to £45 a head and they applied a £25 reduction which was appreciated. In terms of value, the inclusion of a large glass prosecco or wine or beer would have helped to justify the £50. All in all it wasn't a very pleasant NYE evening, which is disappointing as we live in walking distance of the Bell but will not be returning based on this experience.
Lovely place to have a early evening meal, good choice of food & good service.
Great service. Food is ok
The service and ambiance were very good. The food was generally excellent with the exception of the triple cooked chips that were neither cooked through nor crispy. However, the response once pointed out to staff was immediate and appropriate.
Dining at the Bell on Saturday was disappointing. We have been a number of times in the past and the food has been very good but unfortunately two meals had to be sent back on Saturday and they ran out of Sauvignon Blanc and only had one bottled cider on offer. The waiting staff were helpful and did their best however.
I have visited the Bell several times over many years. A long time ago it was excellent and deserved its reputation. We even held a 21st birthday lunch which was excellent.
It then declined. I have not been back for nearly 10 years. I was very pleased to see how much improved the restaurant has become and it is back on the list.
The food and the style is good and better than some of the starred restaurants in central London. The service team are pleasant but untrained and the 'pub' interaction does not work too well.
Generally well done
The service was really bad. Once we had been shown to our table we were forgotten - had to go to the bar to order coffee and then to get bill - not interested in clearing plates.
We ordered extra bread with the Camembert but this failed to arrive before we had eaten the cheese.
Really enjoyed the experience. Would ask for Table in the main restaurant next time but that is my only complaint.
