The Bell at Hardwick
The pub offers wonderful locally sourced and freshly prepared food, served up alongside locally brewed cask ales.
Today the Bell is a hub for the community offering a family friendly atmosphere, roaring log fires in winter, and a warm welcome for dogs and muddy boots in the bar. In the warmer months, we have plenty of seating in the sun or at shaded tables in our rose garden, or on our patio. We offer freshly cooked, locally sourced British food, complimented by our specially selected wines by the glass, carafe or bottle.

Good food, nicely presented. Staff friendly and helpful. Service was prompt and all orders correct. We could have done without noisy man on next table with colourful language but this won't put us off going again - hopefully he won't be there!
Nice setting but let down by quality of food. Thin white sliced toast with soup and again with mussels. Surely they can find some decent bread to serve
We had a table booked at 1pm for lunch, hadn’t been before lovely country pub. I’m not one to write reviews but the service was very slow we ordered our food and after 45 mins it hadn’t arrived so I asked and it came out about 10 mins after, so nearly an hour from ordering lunch. The waitress was nice enough however I feel could of kept us updated more and checked on us and other guests outside more often to see if we needed more drinks etc! We will give it another try and hope this feedback is useful. Thank you.
We were very impressed, if they put the cauliflower on as a starter do try it! No ordinary cauliflower! Do support them or we will lose another village pub.
Mid week lunch meal. Obviously quiet but the food service and friendliness were excellent. We’re going again and would recommend it to anyone.
Excellent. Please try this place out as like so many restaurants and pubs they need customers to come back now they are reopening. You’ll be glad you did.
Disappointed in the menu selection certainly not as good as last time we went. Food was bland.
Menu looked great on line but not so good in the flesh. I had the chicken burger and chip which was served in a stale bun which had been toasted to disguise it.
Chicken was ok but overall was dry. Also no ketchup in the pub. And for a menu that all but one dish had chips was ridiculous
Very limited menu and very few specials left although there was only one other table in the restaurant. We felt the food was quite basic and we had a very different experience to the last time we were there about 18 months ago. No issues with the service but very disappointed with the food.
Great location, friendly staff, good food - has a nice relaxing time
Excellent meal very professional and polite staff , made to be very welcoming,
Yes we would recommend this Pub/Restaurant to friends
Lovely pub in beautiful surroundings. Tastefully decorated, had obviously been refurbished during pandemic. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Food excellent. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone for any occasion 😊
We booked for Sunday lunch - the food was excellent but the service was incredibly slow. Over an hour's wait from ordering to getting the starters, another half an hour for mains. We enjoyed the food a lot and we had a lovely time but it was a shame the slow service let it down.
Lovely food and good service. The homemade bakewell tart is to die for!!!
Delicious food as always! Best tucked away pub in the area
Food and service excellent, but choice limited. Dining room rather Spartan and a bit chilly on a damp Saturday. Add some character and put the heat on!
Lovely village pub with amazing food, and lots of character.
Lovely little pub just off the A413 which is a great driving / riding road and this was the perfect dinner spot.
I had the grilled chicken burger and a pint of Estrella, the chicken burger was lovely and the coleslaw was wonderful along with the nice and warm fries (seems to be a rarity during the alfresco dining!)
They have a great COVID secure setup at the minute and having recently moved to the area I’ll certainly be visiting again.
Excellent fish pie, friendly service and the marquee was warmed with outside heaters with comfortable seating. Highly recommend
Lovely setting, good food and helpful and attentive staff.
Delicious Sunday lunch, lovely beer garden in the sun
Lovely pretty garden to sit in
Roast was very good
My broccoli and Stilton soup was watery and flavourless.
A pleasant lunch experience overall
Great food. Great service. Lovely Garden area. Good beer choice. Very nice lunch stop
Friendly great table service. Sunday Roast is a must.
Fantastic garden and friendly service. Great food too
Great pub with a lovely sun trap of a garden! Good food and great staff!
Our first pub supper for a long time and we were most impressed by the fish and chips and pies! Staff were very pleasant and efficient, and Covid protocol was good, albeit we long for “normality” again!
Over all experience was good, food was tasty and service was quick.
Could have had more outside heaters as soon as the sun went down it became extremely chilly and too cold to stay longer.
But would recommend , probably on a sunny summers day 🌞
Lovely pub, staff very friendly and the service was good! Food was absolutely lovely. Will be visiting more often!
My first meal out since lockdown and it was absolutely perfect! I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know, food was great and the service was faultless! I can’t wait to go back there again! Keep up the great work!!
Outside, was Covid secure and clean. Was cold but good to be out. Service was a little slow.
Good food but limited choices. I think they were changing staff.
Food was outstanding. Ambience fantastic. Highly recommend.
This was our second visit to the bell under the new landlady and we had bought friends with us.
We had the Sunday roast which was as plentiful and tasty as we remembered it to be from our 1st visit. Would definitely recommend.
Fabulous meal as always. Great service and lovely venue.
I had 2 courses, both courses we're out of this world, the roast beef was one of the best I've ever had and my wife's 2 courses we're also sublime. Would highly recommend The Bell.
First time at the bell and it won’t be my last. The roast was amazing. Great service. Would highly recommend.
Excellent food, great service and a warm, friendly atmosphere
Lovely pub with great food and very friendly staff!
The food is really good, Sunday roast is top notch! This has the makings of a good little pub!
