The Bell Inn
A traditional and inviting pub serving great food and a wide selection of drinks seven days a week.
Family friendly, we are a great pub to visit whether its to catch up with family and friends over some great food or to just relax with drink after a busy week.
As usual the staff are very friendly and helpful. The lunchtime menu is good and the food cooked just as it was requested. The local ales are excellent and a good selection of wine is evident. Lovely atmosphere for either a lunch with friends or family. Children are catered for and welcomed.
Good food, staff were very helpful, and helped with mum's 80th birthday meal, will visit again
Having been to The Bell on a number of occasions and found it quite busy at lunchtimes, I expected New Years Day to be even busier. It turned out to be very quiet. The food and service were excellent, as always. I just found the atmosphere was a little lacking with so few people in the pub. In future years, I’d probably book a little later in the day when there are more people around.
Found the food to be its usual high standard, with a decent Sunday lunch selection including a childrens roast menu, decent real ale selection with a nice IPA at a reasonable price. Will visit again soon.
Enjoyable festive lunch for my husband and I. Unfortunately I had bad cold so no taste buds! Food was hot and well presented. We both had soup served with hot bread roll for starter which was very good. Mains were mushroom strudel, served with all trimmings but no gravy, and the pork with mash and parsnips and swimming in gravy and I would have liked a few sprouts and carrots. For dessert we both had the poached pear which was delicious. In terms of value for money I think that you can get as good for a little cheaper elsewhere. Service was very good but restaurant was relatively quiet, which was nice.
Found the staff to be friendly and quick to respond to any requests. Food was cooked to a good standard and the lunchtime menu is good. The beer was good but could do with more choice, if only one more real ale. But thats a personal comment. Overall there is a good selection of beers ,lagers and wine. Am going again this Sunday so that is a recommendation.
Please read trip advisor for my review its on there
Always enjoy eating at the Bell, Its our goto place for a hearty and well cooked meal..... and a good pint
Only negative was selection of beer. No Enville Ale again. Friendly staff and well cooked meal.
Great food ...great service ... Good price
I last visited The Bell in August this year and found the food to be excellent. The only downside was that Kim only had one other member of staff to cover the bar and deliver food to the tables.
This time Kim was on her own for part of the lunchtime. This lovely lady deserves some support as the pub has enough customers to justify three people handling front of house.
We are regular visitors to The Bell and the food is superb. Nice quiet friendly pub with good food. Perfect
Decent food selection served quickly and cooked as requested, no craft beer available on day
The Bell has a small car park, so consider arriving early or come by foot or bus/taxi. Service is friendly, but when visiting for lunch recently, there were only two serving staff covering the bar and also delivering food to tables. There was only one menu on each table and you have to order at the bar.
Having said all this, the food is excellent and the menu caters for light lunchers as well as hearty meals. The fixed price menu with two courses for £9.95 or three for £11.95 is decent value and with generous portions. The beers and wines on offer are regular pub fare, but there is a particularly good choice of gins.
Overall, very good,
Our meal was lovely as usual, always love coming here , no faults with the food or service
Very good food and service. Excellent value for money. A good place to meet up with friends
We are regular visitors to The Bell and the food is second to none. Considering there aren't normally many waiting staff the service is good and the staff are friendly.
The most recent visit I'd say was the longest we've ever waited for food but the place was full which is good to see. The Bell is back to being top of it's game and long may this continue.
Had a lovely lunch from light lunch menu, main menu looked good as well. Decent selection of real ales reasonable prices. Will visit again.
The waitress knew nothing about the wine list. It showed 2 New Zealand wines but it transpired they did not have either in stock so we ordered Enville Ale and Stawfords Cyder I can recommend the Enville Ale(made with honey) The food is well cooked and presented, it must also be cooked to order as it seemed a long time from ordering to being served despite there only being 2 other people eating . My wife found it cold but this was soon rectified once it had been pointed out
Booked celebration Sunday lunch for 11 people, (7 adults and 4 children). The food was delicious, well cooked and plenty of it. The bar/waiting Staff were very friendly and attentive. The table was in a good position. Only negative comment is about the length of time we waited for the food, almost an hour after ordering. I understand that it must be difficult to get 11 meals plated and ready for service together.
Fabulous food. Lots of choice. Very clean. Nice to have linen napkins was a nice touch of class
We went for mothers day. We were served quckly and didnt haveto wait for our meals to be brought out.The food was wonderful. Fresh vegeatables, cooked just how I like them not overcooked.Succulent tender meat and the whole meal was piping hot. Staff were very attentive
There were three in our party and we visited early evening on 7th March. The service was good and the food excellent. Two of us had halibut and the other lasagne. We will certainly visit again. It would be fine for an occasion also.
Not the greatest pub food I’ve had , my self and two friends had lunch on a weekday to celebrate my birthday . Nice enough place lacked ambience , although the staff were friendly . The food I chose was too oily and there could have been more salmon and a little less pasta .
My friends had scampi and chips , when the food got to the table it didn’t look very inspiring to be honest a pathetic side salad and the chips tasted awful ! The service was slow and I had to remind the staff about our desert !! as they had kept us waiting and to make matters worse , my desert was not that great when it eventually arrived !!
On the whole I was not impressed at all and will not be going back !!
Only 2 members of staff for Xmas eve lunch, they were very busy and we had to call them to come to our table so we could ask for dessert and then the bill. That was only a slight criticism but the 2 staff working were still very friendly and good at their job. It was also quite cold in there but I don’t think they had been open long when we arrived at 1.45pm and they sat us by the front door.
The service by our waitress was good and prompt ,the meal was average in terms of value for money chips not that good and the price your paying for a steak you can get better .we haven't been here for a while but used to be a regular visitor but service and food went down hill ,I don't think we will be going back for a while still .
Friendly, welcoming staff and good food. We booked for Sunday lunch and there was plenty of choice and reasonably priced.
Good food great choice. Well presented service was a bit slow as limited waiting staff when we were there. But enjoyed our evening
Fabulous Food, spectacular service - we really enjoyed our evening
Menu offered good choices, plus additional specials on a board. Thrice cooked chips were delightful, and the chicken with ham and sage was very nice and perfectly cooked. Puddings sounded good, but was too full from mains to sample them. Friendly service, but not intrusive. Tuesday evening was fairly quiet. Would recommend it.
A lovely lunch was had by all of us, the food and service was excellent.
Excellent meal and service as usual. Very friendly and obliging staff. Beer well kept. It was a shame there were so few diners in there; they are missing a treat.
Menu choice poor, chips were terrible plus too expensive for what you got.
Lovely freshly cooked food and a great choice for vegetarians. Good value for money.
Glad to see the Bell back to its best. We have been several times in the last few weeks and look forward to the next visit
Outstanding food and excellent service, not the cheapest place to eat locally but certainly one of the best!
Good menu choice and reasonable priced, food cooked and presented well . Very good service .
Very relaxed. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food. Would highly recommend.
We were shown to our table on time but after 30 min we had to ask for our drink order to be taken. Our food order was given at same time 20 min for drinks to arrive our food was lovely but after we were given desert menus no one appeared to take our orders for 15mins so we asked for the bill and left never to return
Excellent service and great food, prompt service and courteous staff.
