Good food as always no complaints at all
What a treat...we went for Mother's Day not realising it was a set menu. The team were very accomodating and allowed us to replace certain items not on the menu. Service was excellent and the food very tasty. Thank you...
Had a lovely meal at The Bell on Friday evening with some friends. The starter and main meals were delivered at just the right time and we were able to speak to each other easily as the noise levels were good. Will definitely go again soon.
We went over the Valentine's period and ate off the valentine's menu, there was a good variety of meals to choose from and was reasonably priced, had a lovely time, service was excellent and food was too.
Food good quality. Service was quick and efficient. Waitress not too intrusive
We went for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Food was out in good time and piping hot. Was a lovely cosy atmosphere. Only negative I have is whilst we waited for an usually long time to be seated, but apart from that was lovely.
A warm welcome to a comfortable environment. Food & service was great.
Fabulous pub for food, never had a bad meal.
Restaurant was inviting, festive and warm. The online booking hadn't worked so they didn't know we were coming, but found us a table anyway.
Saturday lunch, so it was quite busy, but I suspect a second drinks order was forgotten until we reminded them. First glass was (when finished) found to be covered in old fingerprint smears and lipstick marks. Food was generally good, the family enjoyed theirs. I had a wagyu burger which admittedly in a British pub is probably expecting a little much, but it was just a burger, and overcooked. It was tasty, but I wasn't asked how I'd like it cooked (which I often have elsewhere and seems to be the norm these days) and it was quite dry. Presumably they can't say it's Wagyu unless it actually is, but I think the term is used often casually to mean 'super extra special massaged beer-fed cow meat' whereas in actual fact it's just a breed of cattle. So it was just a burger.
IT came with bacon which was nicely cooked and actually tasted of smoked bacon (rare these days), and sweet potato fries which were really delicious, crispy and HOT (which is how chips should arrive). Condiments are good quality too.
The mains took longer than we would have liked to arrive.
All in all, I'd go back because it's a nice place, the food is good but needs more attention, and the price is on the high side but still okay. Staff are courteous. more aloof than I would prefer, but probably just right for a lot of people who don't favour staff interaction much.
Very busy but that is to be expected on a Saturday night. Popular pub. Service was a little slow but sad said it was very busy. Waitresses were friendly and cheerful and didn’t let the fact they were slammed slow. Food was good. What is to be expected from Mitchel’s and butler.
Atmosphere was good. We have booked for Christmas and are looking forward to the feel of the place on the 25th. Lovely evening.
Fabulous for a meal or just a drink in the bar. This pub has a great relaxed feel.
This is a big, busy pub on a main road and we had driven past it many times with no thought of stopping. We didn’t have particularly high expectations, so were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff and the range and quality of the food. Wine was well priced and food not unreasonable, as it was well-presented and very tasty. Main courses were generous, so side dishes weren’t necessary and 3 courses would have been a challenge. There are lots of good pubs in this area, but I will certainly go here again.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Excellent location, food and staff
As always we enjoyed a very pleasant evening at The Bell. Four of us dined on a Saturday evening and although the restaurant was very busy and there was a wedding on too the service was attentive and prompt. I had the prawn pot to start which was delicious and then the chicken, bacon and avocado salad which wasn’t so nice. Rather too much lettuce. I had the mini dessert (lemon cheesecake) and tea to finish.
Haven’t been here for a couple of years so it was a nice surprise to see how it has improved. Good menu and service
We were celebrating my Moms birthday, she really had a lovely meal and thoroughly enjoyed herself . We will come again in the near future !
Short staffed but Emma pulled it off well - always very attentive & super fast service with the food as well as the drinks & bill!
