We have been to the bird at birtle several times now and never had reason to complain the services is attentive and the food is great. The only problem is that it is so popular that parking can be a difficult. I would recommend a visit if you like good food.

My husbands birthday meal was great yet again. Just one thing that was not very good was the T bone steak he ordered. At £31 inc sauce it was very tough and very disappointing. Mine was absolutely perfect.

The only problem was the draught beer. The Tim Taylor's was cloudy and the young female bar staff hadn't a clue it was wrong.

We took our son for his 15th birthday. We have been twice before. I am always wary about going back to the same place in case of disappointment. My husband actually had the same starter (confit chicken) and main course (pork belly) he had on a previous visit. We need not have worried as everything was just as delicious as the first time.

We would and have recommended people come here

We wanted a nice relaxing anniversary lunch and read some reviews of this pub, so thought we’d give it a try. The restaurant is lovely and has wide a wall of windows overlooking the surrounding fields and farmland, just what we needed for a relaxing lunch. The waitress was very attentive and gave us time to decide as we were having difficulty choosing between so many lovely dishes. I had the Scallops to start and my husband had the black pudding scotch egg which were both absolutely delicious. For mains we had the beef rump and the steak, kidney & mushroom pudding which were also delicious, my only slight criticism on the beef if that I only got 1 jersey royal potato and actually more onion on my plate (1/2 onion) and I would have liked another potato at least. We both finished with the Pistachio pana cota which was delicious, especially the toasted nuts on the top, but I couldn’t get the flavour from the gel on top, not that it needed it. The only reason we didn’t enjoy our meal as much as we would have liked is down to the 2 ladies and their 2 small daughters on the next table who were all very loud (so not a peaceful lunch), the daughters were running around, standing on the chairs and standing near other peoples tables so that they could see the horses in the field. I have children and understand how hard it it to keep children entertained when you’re out for a meal but I would not have allowed mine to do this and I certainly never had to apologise in advance to people before sitting down to say that “my daughter will drive you mad”. This is no fault of the restaurant, it just spoilt what we thought would be some nice down time for our anniversary.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, lovely location and great, attentive staff. Would definitely recommend highly and we’ll be back soon!

The only feedback I would give is that we did have issues with one of our party due to the lack of access to the restaurant for someone with mobility issues (only two disabled parking bays - both taken, no lift).

It was my first visit to this restaurant . I was very impressed from the start a very nice young man greeted us at the door and showed us where we had to go. The table had a lovely view of the hills . The waitress was friendly and polite. The Sunday Lunch was delicious . The only snag was at the end of the meal we were overcharged on the bill. It did take a couple of conversation to sort it out. I would definitely return.

A great example of what can be done to transform a local pub into a first class restaurant. Let down only by its rather battered tables and chairs. We weren't sure about the Lancashire sayings posters in the entrance!

Been here three times now and each time was as excellent as the last.
The menu has recently changed and is every bit as mouthwatering as the last one. The vegetarian option could offer another choice for variety as there is only one option to choose from, but still very good.

There was a hair on my daughter’s plate which luckily we noticed before she had started eating. It was changed for a new serving but nothing was offered by means of apology.
Service - we felt we were shoved into a corner and struggled to get waiters’ attention. Throughout the entire meal we couldn’t get anybody’s attention to bring us a teaspoon to help my daughter to eat her peas.
We felt the food was average overall. It was my birthday - the waiters brought over a plate saying “Happy Birthday” but they just put it on the table and walked off - nobody actually wished me a happy birthday.

Delicious food. Great Service. Very enjoyable place to eat. Fabulous view from window. The cost balanced against the quality of the food and experience was reasonable. We have paid similar or more in other restaurants and not had an enjoyable experience. Will be back. Enjoyed the food very much. First Rate.
