The Bird at Birtle
Food was nice. Some menu items good value for money but some over priced. Disappointingly we were rushed off our table without any prior warning when we still had wine left. Who knows where we would have eaten dessert should we have chosen to order one
Menu nothing special, but, that said the food was fantastic and could not be faulted.
Service very poor. Initially, there were about 5 members of serving staff standing around the bar in the restaurant and waited quite sometime before our order was taken.
Our plates took away and asked if we wanted a dessert - then told the table was required in 20 mins - this really put us off the restaurant as the we were not told it was due back within a time limit.
Ask for the bill and got the wrong one.
Would go back again, but, needs improvement in staffing.
Food and service was as always totally outstanding.
Excellent food, service a little slow. Disappointed we didn't get seated as per our request upon reservation; however overall experience very good.
Excellent food would highly recommend. Service very good. Great night out especially for a celebration
Staff and food was fantastic
Thank you for a great evening.
Birthday meal for mum .
As always, food lovely (especially the roast dinner ).
Waiting staff a bit slow and a bit slap dash with the way they set the food down for the table but all polite none the less .
The restaurant is pretty noisy (probably due to open plan nature, stone walls and large windows ) and so it is difficult to hear conversations around the table .
We still like it though and have been several times
Consistently good food and drink offering with lovely service in a smart casual environment
Beautiful setting and fantastic food. Special food at ordinary prices
We all enjoyed the evening however we found the restaurant very noisy which made conversation very difficult. The room was uncomfortably warm and when we mentioned this to a waiter we were told that the air conditioning could have been switched on, if we had mentioned it earlier.
We are all vegetarian so unfortunately the main course was limited to only 2 choices. The food we had was good.
My Happy Birthday plate was a lovely touch.
Lovely night with nice food. The only two things that could be better was 1. Size and quality of start(scallops) the scallops were small and over cooked, expensive for £10, I would have expected better quality. 2. The downstairs toilets we dirty with tissue everywhere, clearly no one had checked the toilets all night! Overall still a good experience
Visited The Bird at Birtle for my husbands birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Great service. Food was delicious. We would definitely visit again. Would recommend The Bird at Birtle.
Fantastic quality at all levels. The decor, the staff, the food, the ambience. Well worth a visit.
Well cooked as usual with nice wines to accompany. A consistently high standard Service excellent. The menu is good but lacks choice for vegetarians or vegans. Literally nothing on the menu for anyone who doesn’t eat meat/dairy. The restaurant could be cosier & less noisy with a few more soft furnishings to soften the macho wood/ slate/ hard surfaces
Food was delicious and presented well, highly recommend the cheese soufflé. Service ok but did feel like our table had been forgotten once or twice.
Have been to the Bird at Birtle a number of times and always receive consistently good food and service. This time we went for lunch on a Saturday lunchtime table booked for 12:15pm so quiet to start and soon livened up. Mussels to start with some exceptionally fine bread to dip in the sauce and the Pork belly & pigs cheeks were really delicious. Lovely food, good service, great location.
Just a little disappointed that we couldn’t have a drink in the bar due to a private function, as we had relatives who had come from the south for the meal.
Friendly staff , busy venue . Really good lunch , I can recommend the asparagus tart ! Will be going again soon hopefully!
Booked a table on line, to take my wife out for her birthday, when we arrived were greeted and shown to our table we ordered our food and though the restaurant was busy we did not have to wait that long for our starter or our main course. We were pleased with the service and the quality of the dishes, and drinks, found the prices very reasonable, and we will certainly return.
Been before and really enjoyed the food and experience. This time however the staff seemed disinterested and the menu was very restrictive, basically two roast diners one ‘casserole’ one fish and one veggie option. The food was good but not exceptional - ordinary ‘pub grub’. Just expected more from Andrew Nutter. Won’t be returning.
Great food in a pleasant setting overlooking open fields. Good menu selection and wide choice of wines
Great meal, great drinks, nice venue and service is fantastic
Only criticism is that if you cancel within 24hours of your booking there is a £10 per head charge.
Overall great night
Excellent choice and food wonderful - beautiful restaurant with lovely view
Excellent service by polite, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Broad range of choice across the menu. We ate a range of different items from the starter, main and dessert menus and all of us were completely satisfied with our food which was well presented and tasted superb. Well done!
Visited the Bird at Birtle for an impromptu lunch and had a nice and pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent with a very good choice. We had a table with an excellent view of the countryside which added to the experience. We will be visiting again.
Always good. Consistent service. Pleasant staff. Excellent food choices
Excellent food and staff. We would recommend to anyone wanting a memorable meal that is better than the majority of venues in the area.
Food and service was excellent, prepared, presented, served professionally in a friendly atmosphere, just some annoying screening girls at table near us but soon left
Seated very quickly at a table next to the window, upstairs.
A very efficient waitress.
Delicious food from an excellent menu.
Limited car parking and some very dubious parking skills observed, as we overlooked the car park.
Food was as excellent as always. Disappointed with service, felt very rushed and that staff just wanted to get rid of us to go home.
Great service, fab food, look forward to returning soon. Recommend this restaurant to anyone who lives in the local area. Views from the restaurant up to Knowle Hill are lovely at any time of year.
Hi , Absolutely wonderful , cannot fault the place ....... just one minor hiccup , they’d charged us for a couple of drinks we hadn’t had , but it was soon resolved . Yes we will definately be coming again .
Starters and mains were excellent. Dessert was very disappointing and over priced.
Fab meal and lovely room with a nice view. Would definitely vist again.
Always excellent food, fantastic views from upstairs restaurant, great service, would highly recommend
Fantastic meal and amazing service. Thank you.
The ambiance and decor were excellent and we will definitely be back.
As usual everything was 100% perfect, excellent food, outstanding service and value for money..
Excellent, as good as Nutters!
Look forward to coming again as soon as we can.
All good was fantastic.
Although the menu can look pricey on first glance, it is worth every penny.
The staff are friendly and professional, the atmosphere is relaxed, the views upstairs are beautiful and the food is unreal.
We will be returning en masse for upcoming special occasions and we can't wait.
An excellent and enjoyable lunch with friends who were visiting for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed
