The Black Bull
Tucked away in rural Lancashire, between cloud topped hills, green fields, rolling pastures, and lots of cows... sits The Black Bull Inn.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Old Langho, our stone building has been here since the 1500s. Steeped in history it has it's own warm welcome to travellers from far and wide.
Our menu is fresh, local and has a nice balance of those "pub classics" but brought up to date in modern and inventive ways.
Dog friendly in the bar area or garden, and plenty of cozy seating available in front of our roaring fires, in The Library, or in our gorgeous, beamed, renovated Fire Barn.
Tables are available to book via OpenTable, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Excellent food and service.
Really nice food and the service was brilliant! Very attentive and really lovely. Gabriel did a fab job serving us!
A small group of us went for lunch. We were very impressed with the venue, both inside and out. It has been totally remodelled and now provides a very relaxing smart interior, as well as covered outside seating. The service was very good with friendly well informed staff. The food was excellent, well presented and provided a range of foods from standard items to a la carte, together with a large selection of wines and beers. We all agreed we had had a very pleasant outing and would definitely be returning for more and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.
Went for my daughters 21st birthday, started off well with service, but then declined once starters arrived, it was extremely hot and we had to ask 4 times for water to go alongside our drinks before they finally arrived with water! Had to ask for knives and forks with main meal. I had cheese bomb pie which was nothing to write home about, lamb was very good but guests said would be better to have mash or potatoes with it. Burger very good, fish monger platter not worth £24 as full of salad and chilli's and not much fish! Sticky ribs were delish. So one and half round of alcoholic drinks for 6 people plus starter and mains = £218 - not sure I'd go again. They were prewarned it was a 21st birthday and no special treatment was had really! Left a little disappointed. ☹️
Fantastic - really nice outdoor space, amazing staff and really nice food. Fast becoming one of our favourite places to go!
Lovely lunch at the Black Bull today, we chose to eat inside as the weather was so hot and humid. It was quiet inside but lovely and cool. Service was very good and food excellent
Another excellent evening at the Black Bull. Food and service was brilliant
Everything was excellent
It was our first trip to The Black Bull. We will definitely revisiting again. We were a table of 8. From the start to the finish we had excellent Customer Service from all staff.
The owners were so lovely and introduced themselves to us. I
The menu was varied and catered for all tastes. We particularly enjoyed the Sharing Boards. My husband was particularly impressed with the Gluten-free Fish and Chips.
Despite it being really busy when we were there, we didn’t feel rushed and service was nothing short of “seamless”
We had a wonderful evening and look forward to our next visit!!
Fantastic atmosphere, great food. We booked a table inside but decided to have a few drinks in the amazing beer garden first, staff were accomodating and friendly, service was great. Highly recommend The Black Bull.
Everything generally excellent.
A slight disappointment with the service.
All but one of the people serving were excellent and most pleasant. However one, and he was obviously a senior waiter, made three mistakes and not once apologised. In our view he was altogether too arrogant.
The evening was lovely and the above comment would neither put us off The Black Bull nor stop us from recommending it to others.
So blessed this is my local . It never lets me down when I invite friends . Always professional ,friendly and so on point .
We booked an outside table as it was hot & sunny. The staff were very welcoming & adjusted the parasol to meet our needs.
Fantastic customer service.
The food was very well presented.
The ambiance was amazing with background music.
Everything was very clean & safe
It had the feel of a New York rooftop restaurant
Thank you to all the staff
Was a very friendly welcoming and was given a choice of seating outside. They have a marquee area within the outside eating area which looks great. The food and service was excellent, will definitely be back.
The best Sunday Lunch and exceptional service ….
Great cosy rustic environment and we received absolutely top notch service throughout. The food was a little underwhelming though, a bit mean on the chip and salad portions and the Kiev was unbreaded (like previously) and a little on the salty side. Will definitely return though with folks having just moved into the local area.
The meal was very disappointing. I had high expectations, following a review in a local magazine, which described, the venue as a gastro pub, however it turned out to be poor pub grub. It was a very limited menu, I ordered steak pie (which they had run out of), so went for a burger, which wasn't that appetizing. My partner went for a vegetable dahl, which didn't appear to be freshly made and was probably just heated-up in the microwave. On the positive side the staff where excellent, and apologised for the quality of the food, and informed us that regular chef had recently left, and the menu was not up to the usual standards. 25% was taken off the bill, however it didn't really make up for a disappointing evening. The manger guaranteed that if we was to return, the menu would be very different, and we wouldn't be disappointed. So we may give the pub a second chance!!
Very nice and friendly, food good, dog friendly
The outside eating area is truly outstanding, the weather was humid with threats of showers so we really didn't want to be inside. It felt quite luxurious -more like a Bedoiun tent than a pub marquee. The service was smart and efficient and a lot of smiles. Also discrete, more dependant on nods and facial expressions that intrusive interruption. I really appreciated that - I do dislike having people hovering to ask if everything is okay. I could have summoned attention easily, however, if we had needed anything.
My one and only gripe was everything on the menu (apart from the vegan curry) was with chips. A bit more of a salad option, or even new potatoes would have been welcome, as would some salmon. I am not exactly on a diet but not happy with deep-fried food or pastry, The curry was really good though, especially the onion bahjees (oh no - simply had to eat them!) which weren't mentioned on the menu. We had a very generous (for 3) and interesting sharing platter to start. I could have eaten a bucket load of the prawns on their own. My companions had a cheese and onion pie and a steak pie. They were much impressed, the chips were exceptionally good, and hot. We were all full and had a really lovely lunch. Thank you.
Friendly staff and service and excellent food of an exceptionally good value.
Points to note :
1). We were given a menu and 4 out of 5 of us ordered the Steak and Ale pie. The waitress came back after taking the order and said that was now unavailable but it would be available in 4 hours !
2). We re-ordered and had placed a sharing board as a starter, unfortunately after quite a wait ALL the food was served at the same time !!!
3). We also ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio as part of the drinks order, we were told this was out of stock !
4). We ordered a different bottle of White wine which was served tepid !
The food itself was good, the Waitress did apologise for the food mistake and we weren’t charged for the sharing board.
Feels like the Kitchen works ok but the management of front of house is quite simply lacking !
This was a celebratory meal that was disappointing. Next time we will go elsewhere so that we can fully enjoy the experience. Hoping for improvements in the future as it is local and we want to support local businesses.
What a gem of a place! I totally recommend. The transformation from its previous management is outstanding on every level. We'll be back ☺
Already recommended to 3 people to give it a try - definitely will be back, excellent service great surroundings and brilliant service.
Delicious food , amazing professional staff brilliant safe atmosphere.
Special mention to Gabriel - our waiter so polite happy friendly waiter .
Menu is a collection of pub classics. Food was hot, tasty and promptly served. No complaints at all.
Booked a table online for drinks only for my daughter's birthday. I requested a table in the pavilion which was no problem and we were seated there as requested. The staff were really polite and attentive and sorted out my daughter's birthday cake so we could have some with our drinks. I would highly recommend as the food, staff and overall set up is excellent.
Lovely relaxed meal and gorgeous venue, will defos return.
Another excellent day out at the Bull. Brilliant service and beer, and the weather was kind too.
Friendly, clean pub. Nice ambiance. Good food, although not huge menu choice at the moment.
Went twice in the same week as staying locally. First time waiter walked around with his mask under his chin which actually made us quite nervous but second night all was good. Would definitely go again.
I was really disappointed with the menu. It was so limited. The food we had was good however.
A lovely pub not far from where we were glamping, lovely inside and outside even better. Very friendly staff and amazing food.
We sat outside under the canopy, which was great as it was a lovely sunny day. The staff were excellent and very professional.
The only down side, (if it is one) is the food selection which was very limited. It was our first visit since the lock down was lifted so presume there is a fuller menu in the evenings.
Food was freshly cooked. I’m vegetarian would like to see more choice. Veg burger was ok.
Very helpful staff, gave good directions when we got lost, held table for us. Friendly and welcoming.
Limited menu due to COVID restrictions but food vey good.
Everything spot on. Would just suggest a couple of healthy low cal options. Love it there though
Amazing! Could not fault!
Excellent service in lovely refurbished pub, full of natural light yet cosy. Food was perfect - gastro pub quality for sure !! Knock out Sunday dinner and the chickpea and beetroot burger was also faultless.
What a treat!
Lovely pub/restaurant in a rural location and relaxing atmosphere sat outside in a large garden area with nicely distanced tables. Food was delicious and a very decent portion.
Excellent meal - sat outside and staff attentive to serving but also checking if comfortable/warm etc
Lovely venue and food
Service was fabulous
