The Black Bull
The menu isn't what is available on this app it's more of a chef's choice of the day which is better the food was amazing
Starter overpriced. One scallop not worth £10.
Main course nice. DesertVery average
Excellent food. The scallops were simply fantastic.
On every level this is the place to eat whether for pub lunch or splendid a la carte.
Delicious menu, the game starters were great, as was the service.
Our favourite pub - staff and food are top quality
Great service and amazing food. Lovely cosy fireplace and great social distancing. Would definitely recommend.
Nice food and reasonable service, drinks are a bit pricey.
We both enjoyed our lunch at the Black Bull Sedbergh enormously. The food we ordered was excellent. We both thought the place was a little austere in being mostly black. All the staff we met were very pleasant. Would go again.
Fantastic food, great service thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience
Booking advisable which was easily done online. Friendly staff on arrival. Masks can be taken off once you are seated. Water brought straight to the table. Drinks order taken then food. Enjoyable Sunday lunch, nicely presented and vegetables well cooked. Attentive staff. Good atmosphere.
Absolutely fine, friendly & helpful staff. Chilly but guess ventilation needed for covid. Delicious bread!
Felt very safe in present circumstances. All tables thoroughly cleaned after customers left. Excellent service and food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Would definitely return
Great Sunday roast dinner. Cooked to perfection. Dessert was amazing. Highly recommended.
Really interesting food, service helpful, warm and friendly, can't wait to go back
Amazing food and great service, would definitely recommend
Lovely quality food. Not very warm inside though and a bit lacking in atmosphere
Food is innovative and beautifully cooked and presented. Service and decor excellent.
A busy Sunday Lunch service.
Ours was a combined party of 8.
Initially in the bar area which wasn't to our liking - children and dogs.
Moved through into the dining area to the right.
Much, much better.
We will return!
Great seat in the window. Brilliant beef sandwiches 😋
The food was very good. We would’ve happily paid the full price for it if the eat out to help out hadn’t been on.
Great food and attentive staff. Car park very close. Tables well placed for social distancing and felt safe. Great lunch menu, content not extensive but means each dish is freshly cooked. Halibut cooked perfectly and the steak and ale pie was delicious as were the curried cauliflower soup and chocolate desert. We’ve ate here before and it has always been excellent. Now we are local we’ll be visiting more frequently.
We had a very nice table - waiter attentive. Cutlery very clean and good quality, as were plates etc. Food was served quickly and very imaginative.
We enjoyed the experience.
Amazing food, at a price thats hard to beat. Will be going back.
We are not local and booked this venue through reading on line comments. We were not disappointed. The place has a lovely fresh feel to it, is very modern and stylish. The tables were well spaced and provided a safe environment. The food was delicious and served to us by courteous staff. Well priced and good value for money even without the 50% discount. Would go again if in the area.
Well organised in the new normal. Generous portions mean safer not to over order!
Exceptional, service was totally brilliant despite these unusual time, a lovely amount of time left in between courses to allow you to enjoy the atmosphere and the food and of course the company of the person you were dining with.
The food was exquisite with a flair and attention to detail that I have not had in such a long time. It was imaginative but honest food and it all contributed to one of my best days out in ages. Particularly in regard to the vegetarian/vegan options being so enticing despite not being either these are athe options we chose!
On my return home I booked an overnight stay with 5 course tasting menu with a friend and their partner to celebrate some upcoming birthdays and I cannot wait to return.
Great choice of excellent food and very efficient, courteous and professional service.
Excellent meats. Good flavoured food, well presented
Thought the staff should have face visors otherwise well organised.
Excellent Hardwick lamb and other dishes with very good service start to finish. A cut above your average pub
Lovely as always
Great place! First meal out since March. Food was lovely. Really tasty platter and roast.
Will definitely return.
Felt pretty safe there, good distancing between tables. Food and service excellent as always - proper gastropub, great value for money
We went for Sunday lunch which was quite a gourmet meal. The traditional roast was a bit outside the box and really very nice. The combinations are imaginative and a bit different and unexpected. We really enjoyed it
Very well set up to allow diners to enjoy the superb food in safety.
Excellent food and service with perfect hygiene arrangements for the post Covid world. Would highly recommend it.
Considering it was there first night opening everything was so well organised and the evening was really enjoyable and the food amazing!! I will let you off for not having my favourite Sauvignon in !!!!!!! 😊
The menu was interesting, seasonal and locally sourced, as usual.
We enjoyed pork and pheasant dishes for starters and lamb and beef mains which were delicious, with the meat cooked perfectly. The dark chocolate and cherry dessert we shared was divine!
The COVID restrictions were dealt with well by the staff and they provided a friendly and professional service.
This was the Bull’s first day of opening after lockdown and our first visit. Was good to see hand sanitiser on the way in and a register to sign in. Lovely bar and dining area, but on a cool day in July it felt cold. Service was good, but we were all a bit shocked to see none of the staff were wearing PPE. Food was ok, we all had burgers, not sure how you can go wrong with a burger, but unfortunately they were a struggle to eat, the meat was very hard and I found a piece of plastic in mine...the waiter apologised and said he’d mention it to the chef. After eating, staff were happy for us to move into the bar and sit by the log burner to warm up! On receipt of the bill we were disappointed to see no discount for my meal. After having to mention it again the waitress apologised and whisked the bill away and produced a new one. Overall a lovely bar/restaurant. Shame about the food incident. Not sure we’ll be rushing back.
Nice staff and pleasant food. However the wine was extremely over priced. Over £7 for a 125 glass of wine and £15 + for a large glass of wine is greedy. For this reason we would not return.
