   The restaurant was not overly crowded when we were seated which was nice. Ambience was nice. Service was good. The biggest complaint for us is that the font of the menu is too small. Especially with the dim lighting.

    We had a lovely time and a great meal at the Blackbird. Our server (I think her name was Jill) was pleasant and efficient and saw to our having a wonderful meal.

    We ordered the jalapeno cheese cornbread and it was heavy, tastless and bland. They did not charge us for it but brought us french bread which was very good. We then ordered the chefs special beer battered fish with grits. The grits were awesome but the fish was raw in the middle. They brought us another one that was good. We split a “filet” which was (sorry) not a filet, but some other cut that was not tender. We ordered it medium rare, even though we like it medium because that way we felt they would not overcook it. It came medium to medium well. By this time we just ate it without complaining. The waiter and the chef was very accommodating but the food just did nit hit the mark. I was Ok at best and the least flavor and quality of all the other restaurants we ate in at Ashville, which inluded: Zambra, Chestnut, and Curate. All of which were (sorry) but far better food and better menu.

    My girlfriend and I celebrated our 2-year anniversary yesterday at The Black Bird and it was the best dining experience I have had in years. The food was excellent. Mussels and marinated olives for the appetizer were amazing. Our entrees were the goat cheese corn pie with greens and the truffle risotto, both excellent and healthy portions. I had graybeard ipa (delicious), she had white wine. For desert she got the coconut cake to go and destroyed it. The service was perfect, ambiance was romantic and pleasing. 5 stars. Highly recommend! We will be back soon.

    Bartender seemed flustered with about 6 bar guests when he got to everyone service was amazing but was standing over each guest for way to much time. then we gave him a card to go out and smoke and he ran out tab so we just decided to go elsewhere to have the rest of our date night. Food and cocktails were 10/10.

    Blackbird was fine. My first, and overall impression was that it’s in need of a refresh. The look and decor are just tired and not in any way impressive. The menu is on the small side. All four in our party ordered the same trout dish with scallops and risotto. This dish was properly executed with tasty fish, tender and delicious scallops (which could have used a better sear, for appearance if nothing else) and a rich risotto. Nothing wrong with any of it. But with all the great dining venues in Asheville an update is def needed here.

    Our service, Shaun, was attentive, friendly and very helpful. The pork chop was outstanding. The corn pie was quite flavorful & very filling. Oh, and the calamari appetizer- perfection. We will definitely go back.

    My wife and I had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was good, but nothing was spectacular. The service was fine, but again, nothing spectacular. During the meal, we'd receive our wine 5 minutes before the paired plate - those two items should be served at the same time.

    Great find in Asheville. The food was excellent. Our trout and scallops were cooked to perfection. Chefs appetizer potatoes were amazing and addictive! Our server, Miriam (with the beautiful name) was the best, attentive and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend.

    Saw many excellent reviews and booked with high hopes for our dinner. The restaurant was not busy, yet service and food were quite slow to arrive. The appetizers we ordered were both drizzled with honey, which was unexpected. We ordered a non alcoholic version of a cocktail served at the table and ingredients changed to make the beverage less than appealing. When we pointed it out, our server explained the difference but did not offer another option. Our food was satisfactory but was not overly impressive.

    The food was delicious. We had the pork chop and also a vegetarian pasta dish (mushroom & gnocchi). Both very tasty and flavorful. Service was good and friendly, but could have been a bit more attentive. Again, what counts is the food and that was outstanding!

    We always put Black Bird on our list of favs when we come to town! Triple A+ for service! All were engaging; knowledgeable of menu; super attentive! Food came out quickly! We had the steak & chop - both were perfectly cooked/seasoned. Notably, the veggies were cooked to perfection, which truly is a rarity even the best rated restaurants. Black Bird Never disappoints! It Stays on our ‘list’!

    We were pleasantly surprised by the creative dishes prepared by the very talented chef. We had read other nice reviews, but when we actually tasted the food combinations, we were blown away! The salads were delicious! One dish, a beef tenderloin with charred watermelon, was outstanding. Our waitress was also a treat. Attentive and fun with order taking, but quiet and respectful when our table was deep in conversation. We are thrilled that The Blackbird was one of our choices for our two night stay in Asheville!

    Great stop in Asheville. Service was excellent. The food is sort of a reconstructed Southern take. Good wine selection We started with mussels. Absolutely fabulous. We worked off the Vegan menu and were not disappointed. Flavorful dishes very much appreciated on a beautiful summer day

    Excellent from the moment we walked in the door, with gracious hostess and excellent server. Two very comfortable dining areas are separated by a very attractive bar. We were given a very nice window table and enjoyed terrific service all evening as our server was always available but still let us enjoy the meal at our pace . Excellent cocktails. We ordered entirely vegan, though neither of us are, and were amazed by the flavors. Vegetable Wellington was so perfect, not sure how the beef version will ever compete again. I’m still tasting the warm Brie salad. And the fruit compote was among best ever. Our first meal in Asheville set an exceptionally high bar. The only little surprise was the addition of a kitchen appreciation fee, which I had never seen before but only a few bucks so I didn’t even mention it. Totally enjoyable evening

    Awful food—not a single item on the Chef’s tasting menu was good. Some plates were bland with ingredients that seemed low quality, others weren’t edible. One of the worst meals I’ve had in years and terrible value for the price point.

    Great atmosphere and the service was great!! My drinks were a lil mediocre but they fixed that with no problem!!! The scallop and trout risotto was really good, though I ate as is/no salt and pepper. Would definitely go back for the risotto :)
