Amazing food and service!
wine, mixed drinks, and non-alcoholic options
Sushi, scallops, sea bass, short rib all were excellent
We had an amazing evening in the Blue Hen. We were greeted kindly by Patrick (one of the restaurant managers) who brought us to our table. Our server Kevin was attentive and very informative about the menu. All other staff were extremely professional and most definitely enhanced our experience.
We ordered off the pre-fixe menu that is offered a few nights a week. The value and quality is incomparable for the amount of food that is included (1 app, entree, dessert, and a glass of wine!).
They started us off with a lovely surprise amuse, which was a cute mini take on a Shepard’s pie. We enjoyed a nice wintergreen salad and squash soup, along with some calamari to start. Followed by their hen and short rib entree’s. All the food was so filling and delicious that we ended up taking our desserts home with us.
The ambiance was soft and stunning, and it was a joy to look up at the stars while we dined. We had such a lovely evening and can’t wait for our next visit!
Beautiful room. The food and service were average. Aesthetics are what this restaurant focuses on.
Seated promptly. The Blue Hen is situated in the newly renovated Adelphi Hotel. It is in an atrium. Our server was very pleasant and when asked took time to tell us about herself. My friend ordered a French martini, which was NOT a French martini, so she sent it back. Our sushi appetizer was very fresh and delicious. Rolls were warm with soft butter. My husband and I split a Caesar salad which was huge. I ordered the braised short ribs with ravioli and it was delicious and perfectly cooked. Husband ordered the branzino dish which he said was delicious. The Bordeaux blend was reasonably priced and delicious. Our cappuccinos and espressos were lukewarm at best. I would still go back for the food and service.
The restaurant had a modern and spacious feel even though tables were limited. The salad portions were too large and had an inadequate amount of dressing. The steamed mussels appetizer portion was large which was good because a third of them did not open. The lobster special was very good but again came with an excessively large portion of noodles.
The wine had several excellent choices.
Service was enthusiastic but not at the standard of a superior establishment.
Amazing food, beautiful presentation, engaging/friendly staff and gorgeous environment! Saratoga is loaded with restaurants and the Blue Hen will be difficult to beat!
Incredible interpretations of everyday brunch/breakfast items. Gourmet presentation and execution. Second to none in Saratoga and beyond for service, menu, and atmosphere!
I am sad that this restaurant has not done well in Saratoga Springs. It may be a little out of place in Saratoga Springs. We love it and appreciate the excellent service and ambience.
Nice place although a little pricey, but we knew that going in. The ambiance was nice too, but we would have preferred something a little quieter for a dinner party of 4 to enjoy conversation. Perhaps a different table would have been better, but I'm not sure if we had many options. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and I would recommend this as a good place.
Food is garbage
Blue hen had its groove on when we went for Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday our server, Hillary, was just right - attentive helpful
But not too much. Food - French toast banana bread and omelettes presented well and tasted equally as fabulous.
Ambiance hit a high note - blue hen is in a conservatory. Tables are distanced appropriately and the guitarist perfectly balanced music with the ability for people to converse at the tables.
Keep up great work. Would highly recommend
The Blue Hen exceeded our expectations. The food was phenomenal and the service was amazing (Benny was our waiter and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the history of the building) As Saratoga natives, we highly recommend this restaurant.
Best Bloody Mary in town hands down. Lovely ambience year round for brunch or breakfast - my go to place with friends or family!
The food is always spectacular, the service always impeccable but I don’t think that many people have found it yet. It was a little quiet for a Friday night. Hoping to spread the word of how amazing it is so those guys can get thriving. The fact that it’s in the back of a swanky hotel hurts them from the local crowd. But let the secret get out, the place is great.
Our party has had multiple lovely dinner experiences here at Blue Hen so we decided to try brunch. First off, the room screams Sunday brunch..the atrium is so bright and beautiful. Pair that with the best brunch I've had in Saratoga. Their chefs are creative, innovative and the menu - delectable and unique. Pair that with the excellent service from staff and managers this is a must try.
Had Lovely dinner with Ryan as our server cant wait to come back, food was great and throughly enjoy talking to him!
We get to the Adelphi hotel and it is absolutely beautiful. We walk into the Blue Hen and immediately greeted by a host. As soon as we sat down we get delicious bread and butter with water. The caeser salad and pork belly come out and they were delectable. The main course was honey truffle young chicken and is absolutely impeccable and the desert which consisted of their salted caramel nut tart and brownie sundae could not have been any better.
Service was a bit slow. Initial drinks took way too long to come out to the table. Had to ask for salt and pepper. Check was delivered before we were finished ordering. Nevertheless, the food was great and atmosphere was terrific. Only thing that would have made it better for brunch would have been some snow falling on the glass atrium.
Lovely Christmas Dinner, service was fabulous, food was excellent. Portions were almost too big and we enjoyed our leftovers the next day. The stand out was the scallop appetizer -one of the best we'd had. Our server was a wonderful young lady and very attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was lovely and I am looking forward to returning again.
This was our first time dining in at The Blue Hen for brunch, as soon as we arrived we were greeted immediately by the manager Patrick Toomey who was a true gentleman and showed us to our table and made sure we were taken care of. To start off with we had the tater tachoes which were sweet potatoe tachoes with short rib on the top. So delicious a perfect mix between sweet and savory. For our entrees we ordered the eggs benedict and the french toast. The eggs benny were cooked to perfection the hollandaise sauce was amazing along with the side salad that came with it. The french toast is to die for! It is such a filling meal but i just wanted to keep eating! To top off this unforgettable experience we had a dessert like no other before! Cheesecake pops with a caramel dipping sauce a long with a brownie and some caramel nut tart. Overall one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had and you will definitely see us back there. Thank you to all the staff who made it the perfect brunch date!
Today is my birthday and I wanted to have a nice quiet brunch. The Blue Hen made me feel very special when the chef sent me a complimentary serving of Pumpkin Donut holes. I am not a fan of anything pumpkin flavored but when I bit into one of those delectable little treats I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the gesture of a Birthday treat kind, it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long long time.
May main course was the Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon. It was superb. The hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy.
I would recommend the Blue Hen for any occasion, Morgan, my server was wonderful. Melissa, the receptionist was warm and welcoming.
I will definitely be back.
Went to Blue Hen for 2019 Winter Restaurant twice in the same week. First visit went very well. Second visit was as good as appetizer (mussels) were served at cool temperature & we were left to wait much longer between courses. (We do like having some time between courses)
I do want to say that the staff are very friendly, and they can only serve the food as quickly as the kitchen prepares it. I also noticed that it appeared most people were ordering one particular main course & this may have slowed down the serving time.
Perfect restaurant for a date night. Service was really nice and food was amazing!
It was the last night of restaurant week in Saratoga, so we decided to splurge at the Blue Hen, since it is one of the nicer places in town being located within the Adelphi Hotel. The earliest reservation we could get was 8:30pm, but we took it. Upon arrival at our reserved time, there were 4 other parties ahead of us, so we did not get seated until about 9:00. I guess the restaurant week promotion was a hit in bringing in the crowds! We were surprised at the
We were at Blue Hem twice this week, brunch and dinner (restaurant week).
Brunch was fine. Dinner, not so. I am well aware that a restaurant week menu is an abbreviated version of the regular menu. However, the quality of the food should not suffer. My braised beef entree was so tough, I couldn't cut it, no less chew it....which seems pretty odd since the nature of cooking braised beef ensures a tender piece of meat. A re-fire of this course proved to be equally tough with the added insult of having been microwaved to heat it. Who's minding the kitchen?
Ben is the best waiter in Saratoga. He make the whole dinning experience special. We were a little disappointed with the food, just not that special. It’s just one big dinning room so it seemed noisey and not very intimate.
Superlatives contemporary food Great service and atmosphere too. The best restaurant in Saratoga and that says something!!
Here for 2019 Autumn Restaurant Week. Best mussels I've ever had. Whole branzino perfectly done, perfectly fileted and delicious.
The Blue Hen is a lovely atmospheric, beautifully architected pavilion restaurant with excellent service and lovely dinner menu. We ate there off-season, which assured us no crowd, great service, and not exorbitant menu pricing.
The decor is nice and the physical venue is special, but the food quality and presentation for brunch has precipitously declined, in my opinion. Service is hit and miss, depending on the server. Noise level is high.
Wonderful service, food was amazing and loved the ambiance. Will definitely return again!
Tough short ribs raw egg white in several dishes not just yolk.
The building was beautiful. The dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday was absolutely perfect! I ordered the chicken and it was a bit on the bland side. My boyfriend ordered the venison, it was perfect, not at all gamy, it was just a large portion. We each ordered a salad before the meal, we should have split it, they are on the large side. Service was a bit slow, but very polite.
I went here for my mom’s birthday brunch. The food was amazing and our waitress was even better! Birdie was the sweetest waitress ever. She was very accommodating and had such a positive attitude. We will be back soon!!
It was very nice to find a special place on Monday. Unfortunately our 2 top main course choices were unavailable. Still food was good and service was really exceptional. Our waiter was Ryan.
The Blue Hen is a very good restaurant. The room is impressive and the staff is welcoming and attentive. We were there late Friday night and the room was active but on the quiet side, which was perfect for us. The octopus and pork belly appetizers were perfectly done and both tender. The venison loin I had was also a perfect medium rare, tender and excellently flavored. The prices are substantial but clearly in line with what you get. A fine place to dine in Saratoga.
As a group of four, we decided to try the weekday price fixed menu (three courses and a glass of wine for about $40. Three of us had the mussels as a starter, which were very good. Three of us had the short ribs, which were good but far from the best I’ve had. One serving was largely fat. The whole Branzino was excellent. The dessert was okay, but not extraordinary. The glass of red included in the meal was, charitably, drinkable. Given the choice of a full bottle of the same for, I believe, $41, we opted for an Argentinian Malbec for around $60, which was fine, but hardly a $60 bottle. To summarize, the wine list was overpriced with nothing under $50.
The atmosphere of the glass pavilion might have been nice for a Sunday brunch, but on an Autumn weeknight with most tables unoccupied, was uninviting.
The waiter could not have been nicer. High marks for him.
Overall, because of the prix fixe, the dinner was a very good value. If I were paying full freight, it would have been disappointing.
I had a wonderful dinner at The Blue Hen. Everything was cooked to perfection, service superior and the room is elegant. 5 star experience in upstate New York.
