Absolutely fabulous as always, lovely food great ambience.
Our first visit to the Blue Bell; and it will definitely be the first of many. The food was fabulous, the staff friendly and attentive. A really enjoyable evening and highly recommended. Looking forward to the next visit.
Excellent food and service as always! I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Exceeded our expectations. The Sunday roast (beef) was fab, as was the brownie dessert. My 2 year old loved his home made fish fingers. I’d go as far as to say it’s knocked our previous favourite place for Sunday lunch of its top spot!!
Excellent food, good service and friendly efficient staff, in lovely surroundings
Excellent meal for mums birthday!
My husband said the orange sponge pudding was the best hes ever had. We feel lucky to have this pub in our local area, look 4ward to frequenting it more often
Fabulous food in a beautiful setting. Served by very attentive staff.
The attentive staff made our night.. The food was fabulous especially the leek and potato soup
We have frequented the Bluebell three times over the last couple of months, with both family and friends too. Each visit was exceptional, from the initial welcome received, pleasant table service, surroundings and delicious food. A perfect balance of attentiveness...... yet not rushed. We will be returning! Hopefully over the Christmas period. Thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Bluebell. We were greeted with genuine smiles by all the staff, our table was ready when we arrived, the food looked beautiful and tasted delicious, and the portion sizes were just right - leaving room for dessert!
However, we felt the menu would have been even better with a wider range of choices.
We were disappointed that there were only two vegan options, which weren't particularly imaginative, and they were in the main course; no vegan starters or desserts. We are not vegan but family and friends are and it would be a shame for them to miss out on what is a really lovely, friendly place to eat because of this. We'll definitely keep an eye on the menu and bring the vegans when there are more options!
Friendly attentive staff make the bluebell a pleasure to visit , good menu and tasty food.
My Husband and I visited the Bluebell for a meal a few weeks after you opened and was a little disappointed. However we decided to try again and joined by my Daughter and two friends on Saturday evening we had a lovely meal vastly improved and enjoyed the ambiance too. Thank you.
This was my fifth visit and the food was excellent as always. We waited a while for our food but it was very busy and worth the wait!
We have had 2 recent visits to the blue bell with our 18 month old daughter and grandparents in their late 80's (one of which is wheelchair bound). Very accessible and comfortable restaurant and bar areas and a lovely outdoor area too... in fact, even the toilets were gorgeous! Amazingly friendly staff that make you feel that nothing is too much trouble. One of the waitresses in particular was brilliant with our daughter and even distracted her with crayons and a colouring book to help me wrestle her into her high chair and then waved at her every time she passed our table which kept her entertained! The menu has a great selection of food with plenty of options for the gluten free granny in our party. Everything we've ordered has been delicious and the kitchen were very accomodating when it came to altering portion sizes or splitting a meal between 2 people. I cant recommend this place highly enough, all in all a very enjoyable and relaxing experience!
Highly recommend! Excellent service, amazing food and great atmosphere
Our previous experience has been at lunch which was excellent. This last visit was for an
evening meal and the food was not as good and represented only fair value. The rest of the 'starred' items remained good/excellent.
My family group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers had a fantastic sunday roast here in a recommendation from our holiday cottage host. The staff were great, very friendly, amenable and polite. The food was excellent, huge portions, extremely well cooked meats and extra jugs of gravy brought as standard - highly recommend this place. Also, the toilets are lovely!
Waited half an hour to get a drink. Puddle of water on plate from veg. Vegan meal very meagre and disappointing, was expecting better.
Well what a shame, gave this place a second chance and it let me down. I ordered a medium fillet steak and my partner a well done 1, they came together and were the same both well done. The service! 2 waitresses were chatting at the side of me for at least 10 minutes whilst looking at my empty glass, in the end I went to the bar myself for a refill. This place could be top of the tree but this time is wasn't even close.
This is the 5th time I have been to the Bluebell and have had excellent food every time . I had the Barnsley chop this time and it melted in my mouth . The staff are always pleasant and helpful . I would certainly recommend it .
Excellent service from young friendly staff. Modern bar and restaurant with views from the restaurant area. Good choice of food from fish and chips and burgers to pork belly, steaks, pie of the day for example. Most starters around £7 and mains average £13. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and will return. Recommend you book in advance.
Superb have visited 3 times and 3 times the food and service have been outstanding.
I will be going back as the food and service was very nice, I was slightly disappointed with a couple of things that shouldn't put anyone off though.
The onion rings were served cold with my meal, the vanilla custard was also cold on my pudding and as a matter of opinion the peppercorn sauce was just too runny and I would have preferred it to have a much thicker texture. Please don't let this put anyone off as I will definitely be going back.
The food was well presented and cooked to perfection, our only slight criticism would be the limited choice of menu.
Loved The Blu Bell. It was my first visit and it wont be my last. The food and service was perfect. My only concern was our table was very close to the next table giving not a lot of privacy.
A lovely meal, with well trained friendly staff. Can't wait to return
The food was good. The location (good views of the surrounding countryside) and the décor were lovely. Staff were very friendly. Not a big choice but that isn't a bad thing as what they cooked was good and you can go other places with bigger choice but the food isn't as good. I will definitely go again.
Excellent food staff very helpful nothing seems to be to much trouble
Our second visit within 5 days we will recommend it great place
Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. The food was excellent especially the roast beef.
The staff were also excellent and were quick to respond to our request to move from the main restaurant to the bar area. The choice of beers was good. This was our first visit but I know we will be back.
We went on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was busy and quite noisy - especially teh bar area where no-one could really hear each other. Our table wasn't ready on arrival and were asked to sit in the bar. No problem there, but it was all very clunky and disconnected with a few different staff not knowing what the others had told us. We were moved to another table as ours still wasn't ready and then moved again by someone else as it was. We were sat in the conservatory. Decor-wise its fantastic with wonderful views, but being a sunny yet windy day it was a choice of baking or having the windows open and then sitting in a draft. Electric blinds were moved up and down accordingly but then it would get quite dark. Our food took ages - at least 40 mins - to arrive with other tables who had arrived quite a while after us receiving their food before us. Food was fabulous though when it eventually found its way to the table. Utterly faultless. A similar confusing wait to have our desert order taken, with three different people attending, but not delivering! It arrived just at that point when we were just hot and bored of waiting, so it was eaten quickly with an eye on getting out the door asap.
So all in all - great food, inconsistent and not very engaged service and although great decor, not the greatest of designs for hot windy days - the loos were fabulously kitted out but it would help to have hooks on the backs of the doors for bags ... over and out
Lovely food in pleasant surroundings; very nice staff. Relaxed atmosphere.
The food was excellent but shame about the service had to ask 3 times for drinking water and also condiments to go with dinner
A lovely place. Superb food, friendly and helpful staff. Just what you would expect from the same family that run Stones in Matlock.
Staff very friendly and helpful as usual. Took good care of us and our elderly guests including a wheelchair user.
Only slight criticism is that, having booked the table some weeks ago, roast beef and slow roast pork off the menu because of unexpected diners who dropped in earlier than us... although we were disappointed not to have our first choices the food we had was good and our guests felt they had a lovely experience.
We will be back!
Comfortable with beautiful decor. Service as always excellent. Young staff who are always pleasant and helpful. Could not give 5 stars for food because the vegetables were not hot enough although perfectly cooked. The beef was beautiful well done but not dry. We enjoyed the meal and will visit again and again.
The food was excellent as there was plenty of vegetables with our Sunday roast. The beef was amazing and very tender. Thank you we will definitely come back!
A very nicely renovated pub/restaurant with friendly staff and good food. What is not to like.
Great service, friendly staff and lovey food. Will definitely return and recommend.
We very much enjoyed the food. Very busy; table not ready on arrival but was sorted for us in 10 minutes. We were shown to the bar area but weren't asked if we would like drinks so had to queue at busy bar. Drinks acquires as table became ready but no tray provided or help given in getting drinks and bottles to the table. We weren't advised of things that had run out until we ordered (no fish by 7.30 Saturday night and no alternative fish dish on offer). Food more than made up for initial disappointment. THANK YOU!
