The Boarding House
Great food and brilliant staff.
Waitress was chatty attentive and looked after our daughter very well.
Truly a joy to visit, portion size was great, we ordered side dishes as we were hungry but couldn’t finish everything. Best batter on a piece of fish I’ve had for a very long time, not greasy at all and light and crispy.
Well done Boarding House
Not our first visit and won’t be our last. Another great meal with family, great food, great atmosphere and great service. An excellent place for every occasion!
nice place to take friends, good food at reasonable prices, wine a little expensive, attentive friendly staff.
Loved it. Food was beautiful staff were great. The coffee and cake for £1.95 was a outstanding value. Hope they keep this offer I'll be back with my friends after our Tuesday morning run for cake & coffee.
Waited ain’t time for the one course each we ordered. The duck was tough asked for it to be brown meat advised it could only be pink as that was what chef was cooking. Makes me think wAs frozen meat just warmed up. The o lot good thing was the chips with fish. The fish had more batter than fish.
Another great meal and good service . What more can you say. Really glad I live in the village.
Restaurant suitable for all occasions. Friendly atmosphere. Food very tasty. Unfortunately despite asking for no ice cream or cream with my dessert as I’m Lactose intolerant I was still served up my dessert with cream. 😃
We had a fantastic evening meal whilst out with friends. The staff were very pleasant & attentive, the food was first class. Overall it was a great evening & great value for money.
I have been here many times and it gets better each time we visit! Great selection of options on menu, food superb and staff very attentive and friendly.
Lovely Boxing Day menu with the usual very good food. There was a good choice of all courses and the desserts were really yummy. The staff are always pleasant and attentive .
Poor value for money, Procesco half glass of fizz, sorbet tasteless service poor, constantly interupted with the wrong meals, manager as well interupting in the middle of a conversation, asked about a taxi home?? no help at all!!
Howwood Inn where are you?
This is our second visit and have been very impressed on both occasions. A lovely Christmas lunch enjoyed with family in a vibrant but relaxed atmosphere. A local gem! Will be visiting again soon.
Lovely festive menu at a good price, quality food and nice staff.
The food was not up to the usual standard. We did speak to staff and they dealt with our concern.
We visited for a family dinner with ages from 12-82. Everyone was very happy with their food. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very attentive and caring.
Great food, drink service still slow not sure why just takes a long time to get drinks after ordering. Food arrived quicker than the drinks did. Overall tho very good meal and dining
Lovely lunch, and very large portions. Good value and great service. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, and the staff even brought her a birthday cupcake and sang Happy Birthday to her. It was a really nice touch.
As good as ever as never been disappointed with the food and service here after many visits.
we had a lovely meal and the staff were great as always.
Good value for money portion sizes huge Christmas menu very filling and tasty
Staff were attentive and friendly
Nice relaxing atmosphere..
Full of the festivities..
Car park not enough spaces with poor lighting not good , food great staff polite
I had lunch with a friend and we were very impressed with the service, food presentation, and the decor etc. We particularly liked being able to sit for a while after eating and catch up with each others' news without feeling that we had to leave.
Apart from one cold plate we were all very happy with our visit and would return and recommend
Lovely food friendly staff we will definitely be back
We took friends for an evening meal. Everything was great including attentive enthusiastic staff. We shall definitely visit again.
I live in the Howwood area and love this restaurant. My only criticism is service was be a bit slow on the drinks order. Our pre dinner drink arrived seconds before our meal did. So a bit slow. Otherwise the staff are lovely and the food worth waiting for.
Food was excellent. Service was poor on Friday night as waiters appeared to be doing extra tasks during service and couldn’t concentrate on customers. Drinks and tea had to be requested several times before being served. Apart from these issues I really enjoyed the meal and will return.
first visit but will be using again for any type of dining as it caters for all types of meals five stars all round
Lovely restaurant. Food was excellent so too was the service. We were there for a late lunch. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely go again.
We had a long wait for our food but the staff were very good and we were offered free coffee and cake as a good will gesture for the long wait, all other tables around us were all served before us .Apparently there was a problem with the kitchen
Have eaten here many time, thoroughly enjoyed our meal
Food was excellent and very good value. Service was very good . The staff were young cheerful and polite.
Didn’t take or offer to take our coats
Didn’t have any Sauvignon Blanca so ordered 2 glasses of Pinot grigio went to refresh or dirinks and was told no Pinot Grigio left either not what you come to expect from a restaurant poor and then they add the 2 exstra glass to my bill anyway not a happy customer
Visited with a friend for dinner. Everything was perfect including the friendly, attentive staff.
Great meal at the boarding house..lovely fish/chips ..steak pie ..lovely friendly service..will be returning..thanks
My friend and i really enjoyed our meal.. plenty of choice and the staff were excelkent
Lovely place for a meal, lovely ambience. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. Have benn a few times and food and service is always excellent.
The usual good meal although the fish goujons and chips not up to the usual standard of freshness, everything else very good
My father and I enjoyed an excellent 2-course lunch of tomato soup and fish goujons, washed down with a pint of IPA. Food and service were spot-on. The ambience is a massive improvement on it's former guise as the Howwood Inn. The restaurant has a very airy feel with various areas of light and shade. The finishes are sympathetic to the original building. There is apparently a different menus for weekends so will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
Had a lovely dinner celebrating our daughters birthday. Thank you
