The Boar’s Head
Historical Coaching Inn with Traditional bar and a formal dining room; both with its own character.
We serve a great selection of pub classics, using as much produce from the nearby Ripley Castle Estate & Gardens as possible. Our chefs are constantly inspired to create special dishes to take advantage of the 2000 acre Estate and extensive Walled gardens produce.
We serve a selection of popular local real ales and have guest beers on a regular basis including some rare gems, so there is always a reason to pop into the bar.
There is a well structured and varied wine list suitable for all levels of wine drinker from affordable afternoon drinking through to more powerful and exquisite wines, which can be matched to our dishes to create a full dining experience.

Very attentive service, warm, ideal pub on a cold night. Definitely rate the staff here above anything else
Lovely food and service- able time accommodate kids meal requests! Thank you!
2 humans and a guide dog. Very dog friendly for all dogs. Treats and a bowl of water by your table.
Wonderful Christmas menu ( normal one available too).
Wine is a little on the pricy side.
Staff are amazing
This is up with my favourite restaurants. As I can no longer drive ( guide dog, Sheba, is mine!) no. 36 bus is fabulous
Thank you to all at The Boar’s Head
Lovely food and excellent service. Just a pity there was only one option for main course for vegetarians. Something other than lentils would be appreciated!
Usual nice friendly service, if on this occasion a little slow.
Management & Staff always make us feel welcome including our dog!!
The food is always of excellent quality, which is why we go regularly.
Excellent food and service, will deffinately be back
Such a good place for a roast dinner. Staff were incredible and very helpful.
great all round, friendly quick service would reccomend to anyone
AS CRAIG ON STRICTLY WOULD SAY: GOAT
" GREATEST OF ALL TIME ! "
We love the Boars Head not only for the delicious food and wonderful staff, but the ambiance of the whole place. Looking forward to when lockdown finishes to come back for Afternoon Tea.
Fish & chips excellent, as ever. Unfortunately, no Old Peculier.
It was an hour before our starters arrived. The food overall was totally uninspiring. We will not be going again.
As always lovely food and delightful place to be. There seemed to be staffing problems with unusually long delays before ordering and then before drinks and food arrived. Staff apologetic and very nice. Some confusion too about what dishes were not available with different staff saying different things. None of this will prevent us returning but maybe useful for you to know.
Meal was good, limited choice compared to some other restaurants. Service pleasant, but attention to detail lacking-kept waiting to be greeted and seated on arrival even after booking in advance, only one menu offered at a table for two, one knife missing +knives too blunt.
The food is always of a high standard. If the door to the yard is left open it can be rather cold in the winter in that area.
The bar area was busier than anticipated for a Sunday evening, which was a good thing from our point of view. The safety precautions put in place for Covid-19 were adequate and reassuring. The food was good, especially my roast beef dinner.
The only negative was a quite lengthy discussion with a disgruntled resident which took place next to us. It would have been better if the incident had been dealt with in another area of the hotel.
Superb service and lovely quiet ambience. Food excellent (Sunday lunch). Good value.
I ate at the Boar’s Head for Dinner on a Saturday evening and the Sunday Roast lunch the next day. Both were exceptional. The venue is friendly, well organised and efficient. I was so impressed that I have arranged to stay there on my next short holiday.
Surprisingly good food , friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Great food and service, we were well looked after, even the dog was spoilt with water and treats.
Excellent, friendly service. Fantastic food. Thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Excellent service. Beautiful dinner and fantastic ambience.
What more do you need.
I was unlucky and had a tough steak which was a little pricey. It was otherwise lovely
Great tasting food. The hand made pie with steak and Harrogate Blue was fantastic
Well organised in way of Covid 19 precautions. Staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient.
Food was excellent.
I had a very enjoyable lunch after a pleasant walk from Harrogate to Ripley .
Fantastic food and service, the staff even separated the olives so my hubby only got green ones - above and beyond. Our dog was give a treat and a bowl of water as soon as we were shown to our table. Excellent
Pleasant staff, ambiance. Good menu, nice choice of hand pulled bitters. Food and service was excellent.
Fantastic food, amazing service, very friendly atmosphere. We have eaten here 3 x and never been disappointed. Thank you
Called in on early on a Friday evening, very safe and organised in terms of Covid-19
Excellent food, ambience and customer service
Great service, lovely food, relaxing ambience.
We had a lovely meal at the Boars Head. The service and food was very good. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent starter of partridge. Main course belly of pork overcooked and tasteless. Erin mess had virtually no mess but tasty nevertheless. Only one paper menue between 4 of us. Bread not available only breakfast type toast. Very good COVID précautions.
Excellent food and service. All staff very friendly and polite, will definitely return
A beautiful pub in a very beautiful village. The food was excellent and given the problems caused by Covid 19, the service and safety were well carried out.
Great food, excellently cooked and presented and charming staff.
Lobvely place, beautiful food and wine, and we were very well looked after. As with many places these days, it was quiet, so give it a go - it's well worth it. James
