The Boar’s Head
Historical Coaching Inn with Traditional bar and a formal dining room; both with its own character.
We serve a great selection of pub classics, using as much produce from the nearby Ripley Castle Estate & Gardens as possible. Our chefs are constantly inspired to create special dishes to take advantage of the 2000 acre Estate and extensive Walled gardens produce.
We serve a selection of popular local real ales and have guest beers on a regular basis including some rare gems, so there is always a reason to pop into the bar.
There is a well structured and varied wine list suitable for all levels of wine drinker from affordable afternoon drinking through to more powerful and exquisite wines, which can be matched to our dishes to create a full dining experience.
We cater for any number of guests from couples to larger parties and families and we have recently received 'Best Hotel for dogs in the UK'.

Excellent service. Beautiful dinner and fantastic ambience.
What more do you need.
I was unlucky and had a tough steak which was a little pricey. It was otherwise lovely
Great tasting food. The hand made pie with steak and Harrogate Blue was fantastic
Well organised in way of Covid 19 precautions. Staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient.
Food was excellent.
I had a very enjoyable lunch after a pleasant walk from Harrogate to Ripley .
Fantastic food and service, the staff even separated the olives so my hubby only got green ones - above and beyond. Our dog was give a treat and a bowl of water as soon as we were shown to our table. Excellent
Pleasant staff, ambiance. Good menu, nice choice of hand pulled bitters. Food and service was excellent.
Fantastic food, amazing service, very friendly atmosphere. We have eaten here 3 x and never been disappointed. Thank you
Called in on early on a Friday evening, very safe and organised in terms of Covid-19
Excellent food, ambience and customer service
Great service, lovely food, relaxing ambience.
We had a lovely meal at the Boars Head. The service and food was very good. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent starter of partridge. Main course belly of pork overcooked and tasteless. Erin mess had virtually no mess but tasty nevertheless. Only one paper menue between 4 of us. Bread not available only breakfast type toast. Very good COVID précautions.
Excellent food and service. All staff very friendly and polite, will definitely return
A beautiful pub in a very beautiful village. The food was excellent and given the problems caused by Covid 19, the service and safety were well carried out.
Great food, excellently cooked and presented and charming staff.
Lobvely place, beautiful food and wine, and we were very well looked after. As with many places these days, it was quiet, so give it a go - it's well worth it. James
First visit the boar's head service and food outstanding.
Me and my partner was very expressed indeed.
We definitely will be returning
Excellent service, friendly, excellent food. Easy to book.
Food came out very quickly and was very average. Meat was tough and chewy had obviously been left all day and reheated
Delicious food and delightful service served in pleasant surroundings.
Had a lovely meal here on Saturday. Beautiful food, wonderful ambience, friendly and polite staff.
Highly recommend and will definitely return
Came down from Scotland on a short break during difficult times. This was by far the best pie i have ever had!
The staff were all very nice and friendly, we will definitely be back for another pie
Excellent food lovely menu, we had a perfect evening.
Excellent food and very good service. Would highly recommend.
We absolutely love the Boar's Head. It's our favourite place to go. The food is excellent, the staff are lovely and the building is too. And we also have a loyalty card that gets us 20% off everything so it's also excellent value. Cannot fault it. Thank you.
Lovely lunch at the Boar's Head. Great food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere - we will be back!
Excellent value on Thursday's pie night. Food of a high standard. COVID social distance in place and felt very safe.
Very well thought out in relation to Covid-19. Felt safe, food was brilliant!! The steak pie was delicious!! Would highly recommend. Was impressed with the staff cleaning tables each Time one was vacated, would highly recommend
Great food and great service. Good value for money. Will definitely return ASAP.
We absolutely love the Boar’s Head. Although a twenty minute drive away it feels like our local. Staff are wonderful and food is perfect. All safely run during this covid time too. Cannot fault it.
Had lunch after a visit to Ripley Castle gardens. We were disappointed that the food was very much average pub fare at slightly above average pub fare prices. The menu was limited. They are re-using menus instead of single use ones, other Covid-19 precautions were good. Nothing notable about the experience.
Gorgeous food in a gorgeous setting, definitely recommend it!!
A memorable Sunday lunch in this charming building. We were lucky enough to be seated in the small dining room with just 3 tables, perfect in the current Covid climate. Food good too!
Our visit to the Boars Head was really enjoyable. The food superb and the staff were so helpful. I did develop a cough whilst there due to a tickle in my throat, not really good news in the current circumstances, but our waitress was so concerned and brought me a jug of water without being asked which was so thoughtful, it did work. So many thanks to the staff for being both helpful and vigilant.
Everything was brilliant, food, service all just as good as every time I come. Even with Covid restrictions it was not spoilt ( as I had feared might happen) and I look forward to my next visit.
Delicious lunch time food with nice sized portions and we were looked after well.
Just a little pretentious and pricey for our taste but it was fun for a special occasion.
Not all staff handling drinks and food wore PPE - just some, which was puzzling.
Nice restaurant, lovely menu and friendly efficient staff.
If we are in the area again in the future we would eat here again.
Booking is essential to ensure a table as it is a popular venue.
A very short walk from Ripley Castle for those looking for a bite to eat.
Great to be back at The Boar's Head!
See you soon!
We had a lovely evening. The food and service were both excellent and the surroundings lovely. We felt safe given the current Covid situation and were made to feel extremely welcome by the staff there. George who we saw most of was brilliant.
Good food, drinks and service. However, staff and customers seem a bit confused about the one way system required for social distancing, people wandering in and out in any direction and not waiting to be greeted at the front door. People ignoring table service and just walking up to the bar and touching things and paying there, staff not correcting them. Would not recommend at the moment until they sort all of this out.
