The Boat House Bistro
The Head Chef and his team use the finest local ingredients, including freshly caught trout from the reservoir to produce mouth-watering dishes every Saturday and Sunday.
Offering nautical theming and unparalleled views, the beauty of Bewl Water reservoir and nature reserve take centre stage whilst you relax and enjoy a glass wine on The Terrace or a delicious meal in The Boat House.
Outstanding Sunday roast, attentive service and a view I didn’t want to leave. We watched the sunset from our table. Truly wonderful experience Thankyou.
Delicious food in beautiful setting. The service was just right, attentive but not excessive. The food was presented well and tasted really good. The skate was better than I expected and served with a variety of vegetables. The chocolate crime brûlée was divine.
Very disappointed with our meal. My father did not eat the steak as it was too chewy for him. As a vegetarian, only one option for food and the burger was ok at best. We ate the chips which made this a very expensive meal.
Food excellent whole experience worth the visit
Excellent Friday fish and chip lunch, delicious food, welcoming and courteous staff. Fantastic fresh food, well presented and good value.
Absolutely delicious food with a gorgeous view. We had New Years Lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it .
Lovely setting for a Sunday roast with family, the views of the sun going down across the water were amazing and the food was incredible too. Unfortunately a couple of mistakes were made by the staff serving us which wasn’t a complete disaster but they just seemed to be a bit of confusion at times and they weren’t overly confident. But it didn’t ruin our meal and I would definitely go back.
Third Xmas day we have been for our Christmas dinner.
Pleasant experience from start to finish. Parking seating view service food a great place to eat
Food as always is to a very high standard, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere.
The only critisim I have is a little more time is needed between each course. Just felt a little hurried but otherwise fantastic.
Fantastic view of the scenery.
Lovely menu and food.
Very friendly staff.
We loved it!
Had a lovely meal here with a nice view, despite the weather not being the best. Service was pleasant but a little slow at times. Overall would definitely recommend as food was of a high quality and difficult to find places in England with that sort of view.
Excellent food in a lovely venue with a gorgeous view. We will be back!
Fantastic Sunday roast set menu for both adults and kids! Beautiful view too.
Excellent food and experience plus a beautiful setting.
The story you have to go far find a really special place to enjoy a meal is not true.
We found the Boat House Bistro to be everything one wants in one place.
Good food, really friendly staff and very attentive to your needs. Great location with plenty parking. Good Prices as well to top it off.
Have been a few times and will certainly return....
Excellent well presented food. Polite and charming service. Wonderful views. We all thoroughly enjoyed lourselves
Excellent fish and chips, but the peas were not good, maybe they should in future serve mushy peas.
We have dined here several times and are never disappointed - good food, good value, served and presented by a young and friendly team.
Wonderful views and wonderful food and service and very good value what more could you want? Perhaps a more menu options on a Friday, but that’s far from essential
The venue is great, looking out over the water with the sun setting, very relaxing. What is not so relaxing is the service, the attention to detail is awful. Our main course was delivered and the waiter stated he would now bring our vegetables, we then witnessed him taking drinks orders from other tables and talking to others. By the time we had attracted his attention another (much more efficient) waiter had seen this and brought the vegetables, during this time the plates our main course were on were now cold and the beef I had ordered was too.
It’s a shame because this should be a top place to eat if only they could sort out the service.
Excellent in every way. Now there’s an extra choice on the friday menu it’s even better
Sunday lunch with friends, delicious menu with good choices and excellent value. Staff attentive and courteous.
It was my mum’s 87th birthday and she felt completely spoilt. Thank you. We will return.
We booked a table for 3.15pm, we were asked what we would like to drink and order at 3.50pm. We had been sat for 35 minutes before we had any service. The waiter brought 3 of the 5 drinks ordered after another half hour of waiting. We had to wait another 15 minutes for the other 2 drinks. A jug of water was placed on the table but no glasses, we waited patiently for these that came after all the drinks were served.
Two of four meals came out, the other two we had to wait 5 minutes for and then another 5 minutes for the vegetables to arrive for us all.
It took me to go to the bar twice to receive the bill. I had asked and told it would come to the table, we waited 10 minutes for it and eventually I went to the bar and paid.
We left the restaurant 2 hours after arriving. We only booked for a late lunch. Awful never again.
Great food from a very well thought out seasonal menu, compliments to the Chefs. The service however let it down somewhat due to inattentive staff and the final nail in the coffin at the end of our meal a dismissal by our waitress due to an attempt to pay by American Express, what kind of restaurant in this bracket limits payment methods to Visa and Mastercard only. Sadly we won't be back for this reason.
Lovely location - wider menu would be nice on a fri
The service was quite attentive and friendly. Sunday roast as good as ever.
Absolutely stunning views
Food was fantastic
Will definitely be going again
Thank you for a very special Sunday lunch
Fantastic food although it seems strange having a 2 or 3 course meal at lunchtime on a Saturday. It would be nice if they did lighter lunches but still the same quality. The smoked salmon starter was huge and delicious. The restaurant was very quiet so lacked any ambience, such a shame as such a lovely restaurant.
Food, service, value, atmosphere were all good but the continuing difficulty of access for a wheelchair user does detract from the overall experience.
It need not be difficult or expensive to improve this aspect of the Bistro. This point has been raised before and it is disappointing that no effort appears to have been made to put things right.
Fantastic place to eat, food was amazing, extremely well priced considering the quality of the food, not only on taste but on presentation. It was like being in central london paying £500 for a meal each. Superb, will definitely go again.
Lovely setting and short but tasty menu. Good value for money and nice place for Sunday lunch.
The staff were polite and sparodically attentive. They were very young and most appeared to be, being trained on the job. The starters and desserts were really good, but the roast was flooded with gravy, without choice and the roast potatoes were inedible. The building is lovely with a fantastic view, everything was clean and smart. I would like to go again to see if it was an off day, however as it was Father's Day, I would hope they would be at their best....
The restaurant had NO prior notice we had booked lucky they set a table , not the service I expected from Open table.
Excellent service , excellent food , fantastic views. Clean , great atmosphere. Would highly recommend and 100% going back
A beautiful location with fantastic views across the reservoir. We went on a Sunday and the menu is small but choice was good and all dishes were very well executed and very tasty. Value very good also.
Stunning views, delicious Roast dinner, great service.
Excellent, on everything
Fantastic place to eat so tranquil, great service and great view. Defiantly recommend. You always go for a walk afterwards also - all in all offers so much!
